Decoy Wedding?!

Apologies I haven't gone through any individual topic to see if there are threads.

But with all the shit in the world going on, and true escapism is anyone else thoroughly excited about the "potential" TS/TK nuptials?

I find I'm far too invested! Pathetic to be so interested? Very possibly but I don't care!

Again apologies if there's already something going... If there is can someone share!

They did it because other celebrity weddings have been spoiled by the noise of helicopters above, and this way no paparazzi can see inside. Plus they have both made their fortunes in stadiums.

They did it because they wanted to be the centre of attention.

Taylor Swift has a net worth of $2.1 billion. She could easily have shut down any venue and done it all entirely privately if she wished. Other celebrities have. Instead, she did it very publicly, leaked all the details, and had professional film crews there to produce a “special” of her wedding.

Tacky.

Hotels can't accommodate the amount of guests she wanted, though. You need big venue for an event of that size. Don't forget she is used to running massive events.

There are plenty of places in Europe that would be able to accommodate a large wedding. She didn’t need to invite 1,000+ guests. It was purely for the celebrity factor that she did. It turned what should’ve been a genuine moment into a circus.

Why would she want to get married in Europe, though? She and her partner are American, as are many of the guests. And I bet she had a big bash because she wanted to include so many people, like her employees - dancers and band etc. from her Eras tour. She's got such a big heart that she probably didn't want to leave anyone out.

Aw, such a big heart to be a billionaire!

Give over. She wanted the spectacle, and that’s fine, but it was tacky as hell.

Or... by controlling the narrative and controlling what is released, they (there are 2 people getting married and making these decisions afterall, despite what many people seem to think) can take away power from the paparazzi.

Ben Afflick and Jennifer Lopez did exactly the same. The realised they'd been spotted so put some photos out themselves. You could see it as just wanting attention or you could see it as them saying "we have the power and can shut the press down" before they start. We release the photos first so the pap photos become worthless.

For those talking about closing some blocks in New York, yes it's very, very disruptive and I admit I'd be so annoyed if I was having to take a different route to work because of it. However, the local infrastructure can cope with it and they are used to dealing with big events and security. If they chose to get married in somewhere not set up for this, it would have been chaos. They'd have been criticised for not thinking if the locals or logistics for that too.

Pistacheeo · 04/07/2026 09:45

Better to shut down MSG, that is designed for this sort of thing, than take over Venice like Bezos did.
Security would have been top of their list after the near miss in Vienna.

If they had lillies then the cats must have stayed at home.

Okay. I guess I don’t feel the need to sit and defend a billionaire online all day, because someone dared to think her choices were tacky.

But equally, there’s nothing inherently wrong with loads of guests. What’s the limit before people criticise?

I had 10 guests at my wedding, technically I didn’t “need” all 10. I only needed 2. That doesn’t mean that anyone who had 100, 500, or 1,000 is doing something wrong.

And it seems they did have a small private ceremony earlier that no one knew about if that makes you happier about the “genuine moment” you say they’ve lost. And now are having a big party.

If they’d had it in Europe, she (specifically her, as she gets all the criticism, including in your post which doesn’t mention him at all) would have been slagged off for making guests fly across the Atlantic and contributing to climate change with the air miles

She is the billionaire, she very clearly had control over all of this and it was tacky.

Europe, the middle of America, literally anywhere. There’s so many places that aren’t as tacky as this. Given the “JusT&T married!” that popped up on the screen as she said I do, you can tell it was all for the attention. And that, in my opinion, is tacky.

For example, in an American Football team has 53 players plus coaches, physios etc (according to Google). In a normal workplace you could just invite your immediate team but let's be honest, if they invited half of the team then there would be drama made about those they didn't invite and ig falling outs would be fabricated so it's probably easier just to invite everyone.

So with coaches etc round it up to 100. Add in partners and that makes 200 people just for his work colleagues. Suddenly 1000+ people doesn't seem excessive does it?

Plus, lots of people here have/want big weddings but presumably don't have such a big social circle or need to worry about politics quite as much as these 2.

And how very dare they want their wedding ti be about them and make a fuss?

CruCru · 04/07/2026 09:55

1000 people probably isn’t excessive for this couple. We had 150 and we are an ordinary, non famous couple.

I know Indian couples who had hundreds at their weddings.

Yes, it does. Because you don’t need to invite the whole team.

It’s a disgusting, tacky display of wealth.

She donates countless millions, you know.

MSG and such a huge bash wouldn't be my cup of tea. But we are all different. Having played so many massive stadiums, perhaps it doesn't seem that huge to her. It seats about 18,000, depending on the type of event. Contrast that with Wembley, which is 90,000. Many of her Eras venues were 68-72,000. MSG is practically miniature compared to that! 🤣

And she could have made a lot more money if she hadn't turned off the surge pricing for her concerts.

MickyMoonshine · 04/07/2026 10:00

@thingsarefinehave you got a bet with someone as to how many times you can write the word tacky? 😂

It’s making you sound a little too invested. Who cares anyway? If you’re not a fan then move on, read a book or something.

But when you're so famous and have so many people surrounding you, there's a huge chance of people getting offended if they don't get invited. I think a thousand is actually quite restrained, given how many people they must know between them.

Seriously, you sound unhinged and jealous. She’s literally a billionaire. She can do whatever the fuck she wants for her wedding.

You obviously hate her so why are you investing so much time and energy on discussing her? Weird.

DimwittedSkater · 04/07/2026 10:06

@thingsarefine I'm sure the way they decorated it isn't tacky. Her concerts weren't tacky. She made the stadiums look incredible.

I know what you mean. It's a lot bigger and flashier than I expected. I really thought she would have a huge marquee on the lawn at her beautiful seaside home with a few hundred guests. It's a couple of hundred miles up the coast in Rhode Island. It's on a clifftop and is a beautiful setting. Plus NY - fumes, yuck. RI would definitely have been a classier affair and much more what I'd have expected from her.

Travis is the sports star and a beer-swilling jack-the-lad. Perhaps it's HIM who wanted MSG?

If there were no cameras/security then they wouldn’t be making ridiculous amounts of money from limited talents.

Why so salty? Do their actions impact you in anyway?

If you’re not interested then move on.

Yes, it does. Because you don’t need to invite the whole team.

If you had some sort of event to celebrate your wedding and didn't have to invite people you'd rather not purely to avoid drama then you are lucky. Many people have to invite people they don't want to, just to avoid grief and falling out.

You know as well as I do that sonehow the guest list will be released or worked out. If TK didn't invite his coach for instance, gossip papers would claim he was "snubbed" and make up some big argument they had or run stories about how they hate each other. That would be embarrassing for the coach and make TK look bad because it's not like he can blame "budget or venue constrants" for not inviting him.

With weddings like this there are often poltical/business invites too.

Plus, as I said, maybe they just wanted a big wedding. Lots of people do.

My wedding had 40 people and we have a very small family and social circle and didn't invite any work colleagues. It's easy to see how someone with lots of people around them has to upscale that significantly.

MickyMoonshine · 04/07/2026 10:11

DimwittedSkater · 04/07/2026 10:07

True! Fair play to her.

I guess it will always bring out the miserable jealous people.

CruCru · 04/07/2026 10:11

Do you think they had to stand and greet all 1000 guests?
