What's pissing us all off today?

What's pissing me off today is a misogynistic man trying to throw me under a bus today on Teams in front of 30 colleagues ranging from my level to five levels above me.

I had messages from five different people during the call asking if I was OK.

The man is like bloody Teflon - no grievances seem to stick to him. I left work early and went the pub with the dog. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

I'm here to ask for solidarity for anyone else who is thoroughly pissed off today and see if we can fume together.

My trousers are too tight after a fantastic two week holiday. I don't drink alcohol, but, by god, did I stuff my face with lovely food. Now my buttons are paying the price and I feel fat.

Wilko closing. Today I had a really busy day at work, my elderly dad was freaking out and needing frequent support in between juggling work and needed a random assortment of things - think sympathy card, pint of milk, fence paint, a pack of screws, dog food, a new door mat, some stationary items and shampoo for me and said dog. I hate shopping and want to get it over as soon as possible. When Wilko existed, I could have run in and got all this really quickly. Now theres stupid B&M with the rude check out staff, or lovely home bargains which is tiny and does not have most of what I need. But Wilko always came through for me. Hoping we get a Range at some point.

I really miss Wilkinsons. We had a large store, we could get everything there; toiletries, cleaning products, pet food, snacks, chocolate! Now we have to go to 2 or 3 different shops. 🤬🤬

Do a quick pass through and take away anything that looks like it might be useful/interesting (folders/letters/photos) - put them in several bin bags to go through later when you've got the strength. Then get a house clearance firm to quote for doing everything - they've seen it all. Some are linked with auction houses and will sell off anything that has a value and take that off their charges. There will be a cost to it, but (assuming you're the executor and/or beneficiary of the will) it will be something that can be charged to the estate as it will need to be done before the house is sold. Its really worth it in terms of reducing stress.

Would they do all the sheds and garages too do you think?

AbzMoz · 01/07/2026 07:59

Correct.
My two favourite(!) instances are on the pub signage (not posters, the actual metal affixed to the brick) at the Royal in south london, and secondly on all council notices of temporary /parking restrictions in the London borough I volunteer in.

In defence of comic sans, it’s the easiest font for people with LD/dyslexia to decipher. Otherwise I would agree with you that it should be banned forthwith.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 01/07/2026 11:08

Pissed off that a peer, who thinks he’s my boss (hell no - he’s an equal) is trying to tell me how to run my team and causing the team great upset because of his piss poor planning landing huge stress and extra workload on us at the last minute when we have a massive project swinging into the active phase today!!!🤬

Delladuck · 01/07/2026 11:09

My neighbour is really winding me up
She rents from the council and we own

(I'm not a snob,this is context)

She's a raging narcissist and has taken a dislike to us (only us) and spends her time screaming down the phone or kicking her yappy dog outside

It yaps at nothing or if we try to use our own garden (then she or her fella scream at us for 'setting it off')

Yep,they get a yappy breed and it's all our fault it barks

They dump their rubbish at the side of their house and it's all our fault they end up with rats

They don't talk to each other-they scream at each other while what sounds like them slinging plates/cups at each other

She thinks nothing of banging on our front door to scream at us over nothing

Their fucking dog woke me up at 6:30 this morning and I'm at work until 10pm (she doesn't work)

We couldn't use our garden in the heatwave (partly because I had a trapped nerve in my hip,I couldn't walk and partly because of the dog)

Council don't want to know-they say they'll 'have a word' but don't bother

My next step will be my mp

Oh,and I'm going round in circles trying to book a smear test

You have to book online, tried that and was sent a message to say 'ring this number'

I rang the number,'oh,you need to book online'

Tried (again) to book online-'ring this number'

I'm so fed up

I understood it to be one of many including Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman - that sort of thing.

I'm NT and find comic sans very hard to read beyond a few words. Same for text that's been fitted to a page with justifications.

They certainly should - they did all my Dad's (not a hoarder, but he had a LOT of sheds full of things that might have come in useful one day...)

Having to dodge people who walk down the middle of the pavement with their eyes glued to their phone. Look where you're going!

Got a message from our secondary school this morning that they will be closed to most years forv4 days over the next 2 weeks for teachers strike. After closing 2 days last week due to excessive heat. I'm lucky in that DH works from home, but still have to juggle on one of the days. I can imagine some parents will have a struggle. Even though at secondary, wouldn't want to leave the kids for a whole day at home alone.

3flyingducksarrive · 01/07/2026 11:47

DS is having surgery next week and tomorrow we've got to go to a pre-clinic to see the pharmacist, the anaesthetist and the surgical registrar. This apparently can take 3 to 4 hours. We've booked DS's support worker to come to help as DS is not good at sitting in a hospital.

Last round of surgery, it was covid and all of this was done by phone. This is going to suck.

StarlightLady · 01/07/2026 11:52

I recently bought 2 thin light coloured tops. Thin is fine, I wanted thin, it is hot out there. Neither were cheap, but instead of a label the brand name and size is printed on the fabric, where a label would normally be. This is clearly visible, with back to front lettering when worn.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 01/07/2026 15:35

Sciatica. Whilst abroaf on holiday. Meaning I cant do all the lovely long beach walks that i had planned. And pissed off the GP would not prescribe me the tablets that would have really helped as he wanted me to try some others - that I knew from experience would do bugger all - first. Trying to make the best of it but it just feels like £3k down the drain.

PetulaGordeno · 01/07/2026 15:39

That someone has booked a family get together today at the precise time of:

  1. Novak playing Stefanos on Centre Court
  2. England playing in the World Cup.

I've often wondered how this works because I know in London a lot of Councils will grant developers permission to build housing on the condition that 10%-20% or a certain allocation is social housing.

As everyone knows, housing is astronomical in London, so I wonder how those people feel who say spend half a million for an flat to then find themselves next door to someone like you've described as above?

igelkott2026 · 01/07/2026 16:44

People who park on pavements. I just went for a walk and my route took me along a fairly main road. It was almost a no go area for pedestrians because of all the parked cars on the pavement (the road is wide and they could park on the road - or in their driveways). Not only do they block most of the pavement, but they also drive on and off when a pedestrian is there. Happened twice.

Walking is meant to be good for you. I fear it just raises my blood pressure.

I’ve just found out that there are plans for two padel courts to be built about 50m from my house. Am so sad and angry, and apprehensive about the noise. Will do all I can to object to the plans.

I wonder if you live close to me. Are you near a leisure centre? One of my local parkruns starts next to a leisure centre and they are building padel courts next to it - very close to houses and they'll be open from 6am to 10pm. I don't live nearby but I feel for the people who do.

Pissed off with my micromanaging team leader! Takes ALL of my willpower not to tell her to fuck off countless times a day!

I wonder if you work with my ex-boss. She was a micromanaging bitch.

We’ve recently had Boyes open in the old Wilko in town and it’s a fantastic replacement for Wilko, in fact it’s even better.

Not me! There are a lot of padel courts being built though. And lots are too close to houses.

Our house is owned by us outright but is an ex council house in a much cheaper area

I don't know about London but our council seem scared of her (we are not the only ones who've complained about her)

It pisses me off that we paid a large amount for our house and cant use our own garden (or step out of our front door without her howling)

If we sell,we'd lose money because of her
