AIBU
cats, yesterday outside my front door I have put in two lovely new flower beds, within less then 12 hours, two cats shits!
we are a end semi, they seem to love our garden!
we have tried cat alarms,
its making me dislike neighbours that own the cats, selfish to own a cat when they know damn well they are going to shit on someone else’s property.
I might just go let my dog take a dump outside their house!!!!!!

The Cats know and are now targeting you. The only thing to do is run away.

I read the thread yesterday about the elderly woman who can’t open her windows because her neighbour’s cat shits and wees all over her house. I hate cats too !

Caffeinepleasenow · 30/06/2026 08:24

YANBU. Cats are awful and it took me living with one to realise.

FuzzyPuffling · 30/06/2026 08:26

I love cats.
Here to help!

You can get a sensor that hooks up to a hosepipe that blasts water, and once you've got it set up correctly is very effective.

Error404FucksNotFound · 30/06/2026 08:29

I don't understand hating an animal for what? just being an animal? Doing what animals do? They eat, shit, some kill, some live in your house and chew through your electrics. Its a pain in the arse but hate?

if someone's pet is causing issues then hate the people who arent taking proper care of them.

fluffiphlox · 30/06/2026 08:30

Other people’s cats are a damn nuisance. I can’t say I hate them but I really dislike the fact that they crap all over your garden and can pester bird life.

He’s mix breed rescue, but we think he has some collie in him, we trained him to poo on walks (3 walks a day) so the children don’t have to worry about playing in the garden, but twice they have stepped in cat poo, which is actually considered more dangerous to humans

How do you feel about birds shitting on park benches and car windows?

Rubyslipperswitch · 30/06/2026 08:30

Be grateful that these magnificent creatures grace you with their presence :).

And that you don't have foxes and seagulls in your garden!

I have cats (including my own), seagulls and foxes using my garden and the foxes are by large the most destructive, but they are all extremely cute.

We have two cats but have more fox poo than cat poo in our garden. Perhaps they’re coming to yours to do their business? 😂

paleyellowbrick · 30/06/2026 08:36

Cats are also one of the leading threats to wild bird populations worldwide.

aLittleWhiteHorse · 30/06/2026 09:08

YABU because cats are a gift from God and indeed historically worshipped as gods!

But cat owners should use litter boxes so that cats don’t poo in the garden.

MajorSamanthaCarter · 30/06/2026 09:13

Cats don't speak very highly of you either...

Goldengirl123 · 30/06/2026 10:03

I hate cats too. Get a dog

Ladywhatlunches · 30/06/2026 10:05

Rather than being negative think of it as free fertiliser. Joking aside are you sure it’s cat poo. Cats generally bury their poo.

paleyellowbrick · 30/06/2026 08:36

Cats are also one of the leading threats to wild bird populations worldwide.

Actually humans have more of an impact as we destroy their natural habitat through farming etc.

Dozycuntlaters · 30/06/2026 10:16

I love cats, I have 2 (and a dog) but I appreciate it must be bloody annoying. Do you see them doing it? I had birds nesting in my hedge at the back of my garden and any time I saw one of my cats near them, I sprayed them with a water pistol. In the end they only had to see the water pistol and they would run off. Is this an option? When I got my cats I don't think my neigbour was best pleased but I said to her if she sees them going to the loo in her garden, come and knock and I would clear it up.

maudelovesharold · 30/06/2026 10:18

I love cats, but still hate that they poo on flowerbeds, in pots etc. We had problems with a cat who was frequently pooing in and around the containers at the front of our house, which were empty apart from soil/compost before being planted up. Bare earth is irresistible to cats. I got a bundle of little green stakes (small enough for houseplants) and ‘planted’ them inside the pots which did the trick, If there are any patches of bare earth between plants in a flowerbed, try this - unobtrusive little sticks poking up out of the ground usually puts them off!

People aren’t letting their pet birds in someone else’s garden.

Cats are only around because people keep them as pets and let them roam. If someone wants a cat, they should make sure they keep them on their own property. Catios exist if they must go outdoors.

If they're not wandering into other people's gardens and taking a shit there, it doesn't really matter, does it?

I like dogs and cats, but there's some serious cognitive dissonance that goes on some cat owners over the impact their outdoor cats have on other people. I like cats and will happily make a big fuss of the ones that for some reason like to curl up on top of my wheelie bins like a modern-day Top Cat, but their fondness for shitting in my garden and leaving the eviscerated corpses of pigeons on my patio is less appealing. If a dog was dumping in a neighbour's flower beds or leaving the mangled remains of dead rabbits everywhere, I do think cat owners would kick off.
