I am DONE with it. Not slept more than 4 hours a night since it started as despite doing all the right things to keep the bedrooms cool it has been 30 at night. Ddog is miserable and restless so keeping us up panting and roaming the house trying to find a cool spot and now today I have hideous period cramps and cant even use a hot water bottle. And its been the week from hell at work, and I work from home so no aircon. DONE I tell you!

BiteSizedLife · 26/06/2026 14:42

I'm not a fan of this and i agree with you.

I don't complain about the Winter months either before anyone comes at me. Give me six inches of mud every time i step outside my door over this inferno any time!

No good if you have to work in it.

I do have to work in it!!

walrushurricane · 26/06/2026 15:00

I can't understand how anyone can enjoy this unless they have aircon. The humidity is horrendous. I am awake half the night because of the heat in the bedroom. It's impossible to cool things down and nothing like being on holiday.

InveterateWineDrinker · 26/06/2026 15:03

For all those with colds, are you sure it's a cold? The pollen count is off the scales this week and while I don't normally suffer too much from hayfever it's bad at the moment.

Glitchymn1 · 26/06/2026 15:06

Dogs are dying so YANBU. I’m fed up of it, 35c is too hot. I can’t get an air con unit anywhere.

NimbleHiker · 26/06/2026 15:22

I am done with it. It is far hot to sit in the garden. I am off my food. I am finding it impossible to concentrate on anything. I am struggling to sleep. I just want a nice 20 degrees.

greengreyblue · 26/06/2026 15:24

I hate it! Not even working today but can’t get things done without breaking into a sweat it’s ridiculous. Have curtains closed and fans going.

This spell should work to magically change temperatures back to seasonal average in approximately 10 hours' time.

I think we have another day of it in the south-east, though it should at least be under 30.

As for the pp who wants to move somewhere hot, give it a decade and the UK will be permanently hot.

HippyChickMama · 26/06/2026 15:38

I’ve never tolerated hot weather well, but this heatwave is horrific. Curtains, blinds and windows closed all day and fans going and it’s still unbearable, it’s so humid. Ds came back from his first year at uni yesterday, so I’m glad of being able to dry the laundry outside but I’ve just come in after hanging a load out and I feel wiped out. Fed up of feeling sticky and sweaty even immediately after showering

Sparrowsandbudgies · 26/06/2026 15:41

Completely done with it now. I have Addisons disease which means I don’t produce any of my own cortisol and can’t retain salt properly, I am updosing my steroids and trying to cope but I’m constantly on the verge of needing hospital treatment - as are many others with my condition in the health groups I’m in. The heat is really unbearable.

Topseyt123 · 26/06/2026 15:41

I love bright sunny weather, but not the intense heat that we currently have. I'd prefer it to be around 25⁰, not the 36⁰ we have at the moment. It's also extremely muggy and humid, which makes things much worse.

The only way I can cope with heatwaves such as this one is if I am on holiday at a decent hotel, can take the odd dip in the pool and can retreat to the air conditioned building as needed. Then I love it.

Blackcatahotcat · 26/06/2026 15:50

It’s absolutely awful. The poor animals. There is only one person I know of who loves this. Won’t have a fan on and makes work turn off the air con in the office. I think she says she loves it so much to make her ‘different’

FlipFlopZebra · 26/06/2026 15:53

Yep I’m done with it. Working from home today and just can’t focus as it’s so hot. Probably should’ve gone into the office but then I’d have had to commute 1.5 hours on a sweaty train so not sure what I prefer.

I also had a cold a few weeks back! Never had a cold on the summer months either.

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/06/2026 12:48

It’s 37 here, I’ve got food poisoning, a torrential period and a very emotional 3 year old.

Oh god poor you, please drink electrolytes to help avoid dehydration

Elphamouche · 26/06/2026 16:22

I’m completely over it.

Horrendous period pains and like others, hot water bottle is a no go. Have a sweaty, restless 2 year old and I’m really struggling with my joints in the heat (EDS).

On holiday I have a pool and the sea. I have neither of those here and in my house is over 32 still.

Dullmary · 26/06/2026 16:32

It’s fucking shite. My friend is in Greece and it’s raining. Lucky cow. I wish I was on holiday in the rain.

IStillHearTheWaves · 26/06/2026 16:33

I Iove the sun but this heat is completely impractical. A nice, steady 22-26° throughout summer would do me fine. This kind of heat is so limiting. Totally different on holiday in an air conditioned hotel and no chores to do to trying to carry on normal life.

I hate seeing my pets suffering too.

I hate it so much. Bring back winter, lovely crisp air and winter sunshine. Big coats and boots, lovely!

NO

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/06/2026 14:33

It’s all over on the coast in Dorset, well my bit any way, back to a chilly 24 degrees

Yes. it's been a lovely day today - breezy and much cooler. What we used to call a proper summer's day! 23.7 at the moment.

booksareforlife · 26/06/2026 17:23

There's not a single good thing about it.

-I get summer SAD and this has spiked my depression to horrible levels.
-My routine is completely out of the window
-I'm practically a zombie at this point as it's taking forever to fall asleep (Even with AC) and when I do i'm waking up at 4am to get the dog walked
-I have absolutely zero energy or motivation to do anything, i've spent most days this week just staring at a wall.
-We've got a portable AC unit and it's struggling. It's getting to about 20ish but won't go below that.
-I'm just craving sugary snacks constantly.

TulipsAndPancakes · 26/06/2026 17:26

Hate it. I'm a cleaner. Work has been horrendous. I'm also on a heavy period.. i am fat, sweaty and done.

Cherrytree86 · 26/06/2026 17:31

Nope! I love it 🥰 🌞

would far rather be too hot than too cold any day

StrictlyCoffee · 26/06/2026 17:36

I’m from Scotland but on holiday in the SW and so this is the first time I’ve tolerated a proper English heatwave. It’s only been really bad for 2 days and nights but it was bad enough. 21 degrees and breezy today which is bliss. Even in Scotland in a heatwave it is much more manageable than down here. I couldn’t even get any ice lollies as Sainsbury’s freezers were broke
