AIBU to question Snag Tights using very plus-size models?

Snag Tights have women who are morbidly obese modelling their products.

AIBU to think that this isn’t ok?

There are many reasons to dislike snag tights, them using morbidly obese models is not one of them.

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 24/06/2026 17:34

It might be useful for very large customers to know what the tights will look like on them?

It’s not as if any woman will think ‘I want to look like that’ is it?

SilenceInside · 24/06/2026 17:35

They make sizes that go up to size 28 to 36 so you would expect that those are modelled by women of that size. They tend to have a range of models of various sizes.

Why would it not be ok?

BuffaloCauliflower · 24/06/2026 17:35

Because big women shouldn’t have tights that fit? Because only slim women should ever be models in adverts? I don’t know what your point is?

Anotherdayofrain · 24/06/2026 17:35

Yeah, how dare fat people exist.

hugasaurus · 24/06/2026 17:37

I don’t think unhealthy extremes at either end of the scale should be used for advertising.

OneCoralGoose · 24/06/2026 17:37

Its a plus size brand marketed at the start 16 to 32. I think its a wider size range now. The models are usually middle of that size range. Its plus clothes. Better then claiming size 12 models are plus

Tittyfilarious · 24/06/2026 17:38

YABU, snag tights use many models in different sizes to show how they will fit and I see nothing wrong with it

Fluffybuns88 · 24/06/2026 17:38

Snag specifically cater to plus size women.
I actually applaud them using various different body sizes and shapes in their photos because it means I can see what the fit will be like on my body.

Most plus sized clothing is just made bigger and based on standard size patterns, it's a pain in the arse, Snag base their clothing on a non standard pattern so fits a wide array of body types.

Shizzlestix · 24/06/2026 17:38

Strikes me as odd, but last time this was raised, pp said it’s so people can see a realistic version of what it might look like on someone of that size. I’m frankly amazed that there are such models left, given the popularity of wli! I say this as an ex morbidly obese person. I would rather have seen average size models wearing their products. I kept a couple of pairs, which now come up over my breasts. They are excellently stretchy.

As @JustinesGraspingAvarice says, tho, this is not the reason to avoid Snags!

MindYourMannersDarling · 24/06/2026 17:38

Yabu

Doggymummar · 24/06/2026 17:39

Yeah it's the p,us size women that's wrong with Snag. Maybe look a little deeper OP

SilenceInside · 24/06/2026 17:40

@Shizzlestixonly around 1 in 10 obese people are able to afford to take WLI so it’s not going to destroy the plus size clothing market any time soon.

Bristolandlazy · 24/06/2026 17:40

Why isn't it okay? Assume this is rage bait as you give no reason for your thinking.

GreenFootstool · 24/06/2026 17:41

Snag have done this for years. Even fat women want to be able to buy clothes funnily. And the fat shaming of the women modelling their wares has been done to death.

I'm more concerned about their attitude towards promoting fetishes and the doubling down they did when they were called out for supporting strangulation during sex. Shitty business but not because of the weight of their models.

Pootles34 · 24/06/2026 17:41

They're advertising to their market and it's going very well. Other brands could do with paying attention.

Agree

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 24/06/2026 17:41

I love Snags. I don’t particularly want to see scantily clad morbidly obese people but at the same time it’s good they are represented.

ByHangryHazelQuoter · 24/06/2026 17:42

I think if you are selling extremely large bras and “chubb rub” shorts you’ll need to demonstrate these on larger models. What I dont like about the site is it’s try hard “edgy”. For example there is a larger lady on there right now modelling suspenders with a bunch of yellow roses covering her bare bum crack. Why?

Lzzyisgod · 24/06/2026 17:47

Just the thought of tights in this weather makes me want to sweat!

PurpleCoo · 24/06/2026 17:49

They cater to plus size, so of course it makes sense to have plus size models. That being said, it doesn't seem very balanced and most of the models are in the much larger sizes.

I love snag tights but haven't really seen models in a/b/c sizes. I am a size 10 hourglass with large boobs but a small waist and bravissimo don't really do clothes any more. I'd wondered if snag clothes might meet my needs as it can be a struggle to get swimming costumes or certain styles of clothes that are flattering and have room for larger breasts without flapping like a tent on the waist. Snag don't seem to show many models in 'regular' sizes though, only plus sizes. I think they should show both.

This is meant as a plain question, not goady, but have a step back and consider if that was an ad for any other lingerie brand and the model was a slim twenty-something woman in the same pose with those flowers.

Would it seem quite so try hard or edgy then?

MidnightPatrol · 24/06/2026 17:52

I have no issue with the size of the models.

I do take issue with how raunchy some of their content is though, given I just want to buy tights for day-to-day wear…!

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 24/06/2026 17:52

Most of their "models" are promoting fetish only fans sites, Snag is known for it.

Error404FucksNotFound · 24/06/2026 17:53

So your complaint is that a company that makes products for fat people, shows how their products look on fat people?
