To report these supermarket workers?

thetimeisnow · 17/06/2026 12:24

As I walked past some supermarket workers, they were having a chat, one said
' i couldnt tell if it was a man or woman'
Then another said ' we have one of them where i live'

I think it was inappropriate.

But am I over thinking and being unreasonable?!

What would your report say?

Honeyhonay · 17/06/2026 12:24

Why is it inappropriate?

LordEmsworth · 17/06/2026 12:25

What do you plan to report, to whom, with what aim?

Megifer · 17/06/2026 12:26

Good grief get a hobby or something 🙄

Shoopshawady · 17/06/2026 12:27

Wow you need to get a life! It’s a normal thing to say… nothing offensive!

DemBonesDemBones · 17/06/2026 12:27

Eh?

BeSunnyLemonSheep · 17/06/2026 12:27

YABU. Nothing wrong with that.

BertieMartini · 17/06/2026 12:28

Err yes. YABU.

Just get on with your shopping OP

WallaceinAnderland · 17/06/2026 12:28

I think they're allowed to chat whilst working, as long as they are still getting on with the task (stocking shelves, or whatever).

MyKindHiker · 17/06/2026 12:29

YANBU. Report them to MI5. And the CIA.

Darragon · 17/06/2026 12:29

Nice try op 🙄

Mikopink · 17/06/2026 12:30

Ha ha ha. Thought police hoping to find thought police overlord to report to… errrr… where’s the overlord when you want them?!

PorkPieForStarters · 17/06/2026 12:40

"It" and "one of them" is pretty nasty, it's not inclusive or supportive is it and would be horrible to overhear if it affected you. It also goes against Tesco's published stance on LGBTQ+:

Some of the conversations I overhear between the shelfstackers in an evening are shocking. You wouldn't get away with it in other jobs, I don't see why they should in theirs, especially when they can be easily overheard by customers.

I'm with you, OP.

Published stances to placate the virtue signallers. Real life is allowed to be real.

Lomonald · 17/06/2026 12:43

Maybe somebody where the person lives goes by "they/them" or it is ambiguous so the person doesn't want to assume,

What do you want to report overhearing a private conversation?

TheContoursALittleMisunderstandingNsoul · 17/06/2026 12:43

How could you be arsed.
Get yer tatties,milk,loaf .
and go hame

emuloc · 17/06/2026 12:47

Yanbu.

PippiLongStockingsPigtails · 17/06/2026 12:48

Lordy if that’s all you have to worry about you’re doing well!

thetimeisnow · 17/06/2026 12:49

Ok, im fine with being told to get a hobby.

Like porkpieforstarters said, it is nasty and if it did hit personally I would be sad that people can say it and out loud in a busy supermarket.

I would ask tesco manager to re do the training about inclusion.

fellupthestairs · 17/06/2026 12:51

It’s not something that would bother me to overhear. And even if it did bother me, I doubt it would even occur to me to ‘report it’. To whom exactly?

pinkdelight · 17/06/2026 12:51

You don't even know who they were talking about and you can't control people's thoughts and chats. Neither do their bosses if they're not talking to you for work purposes.

PinkMagnoliaTree · 17/06/2026 12:51

Inclusion for who?

Viviennemary · 17/06/2026 12:52

Stop eavesdropping on conversations.

Lexy2345 · 17/06/2026 12:52

Was it aimed at you? Is that why you're upset about it?

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 17/06/2026 12:53

No inclusion training is going to help with this…

’I couldn’t tell if it was a man or woman'
