To ask what's your favourite part of your body?

Seen many threads lately about women fretting over what body parts of themselves that they hate and it makes me sad. It makes me sad that I feel this way about myself, too.

Every single day I see new social media posts/articles about X celebrity has gained/lost weight and looks awful, or 'look at how great this conventionally attractive celebrity looks' then pick her apart down to bone structure and genetics, to make women everywhere race to the mirror once more and pick themselves apart for not looking like that. I'm sick of it.

So, what is your favourite body part? What do you love about your body?

I like my arms. They used to be extremely lean and toned and then I had kids and give up on myself for a while and they got fatter. They're leaning out again now that I have remembered I am a human being and started exercising/eating well again and I'm starting to like them! Yay. I also like my legs even though they're short and stubby as hell. But they're curvy and chonky and I like it.

I have to say my least favourite part would be my stomach as it is 90% loose skin and no effort. But, I'm coming to accept it for what it is; my children's first home and, well, it's just a stomach. Who cares.

Let's be having it sexy ladies

I’ve spent most of my life battling with body dysmorphia. It’s nice for people to like their body but I honestly think it’s generally best not to evaluate its different features under the lens of what is conventionally attractive and try to view it in a neutral way.

Same here, I'm just so fed up of media telling me and every other women we aren't good enough if we don't have xyz feature. Or here is Kylie jenners breast implant size; now you need them!! I just thought id take a look at myself and pick something i like to feel good, and encourage others to do the same so they know that they're beautiful as they are, despite what the media says.

I would love to be able to not pick my body apart, but I do for the aforementioned reason. Only in recent months have I truly tried to accept myself and I think im getting there, but its a long road ahead.

This is hard when you've had a lifetime of absolutely hating your body, but I'll have a go. My strength and fitness I guess - at 51 I can still hike, ski, sail, ride my bike, body board, swim etc. I can eat what I want and as much as I want and never put on weight. I'm one of those people who others say "just eat a pie" to, and I have never been able to wear strapless dresses (they don't stay up) and my spine is curved from scoliosis. But my body lets me do fun exciting stuff. I have ok skin.

There. I had a go.

You sound like you're in great shape at 51!!! What's not to love? You have great skin and can still do all that. Amazing really. It sounds like you've looked after yourself really well. You should be proud

My hair, I'm a natural redhead and hated it so much growing up but I'm glad my mum never let me dye it, it's so thick and healthy now.
i love my lips, they're naturally very red and plump and I love my freckly skin.
Since I became a mum it's given me a new appreciation for my body and I've learnt to love myself a little more, I'd hate to hear my girls talking negatively about their bodies so I make a conscious effort not to do it to myself.

You sound absolutely gorgeous tbh. I am the same; i always make sure to talk positively about myself in front of my children, even at their young ages. I would really hate for either of them to feel the way that I have felt about myself at points. Self-esteem and confidence starts in the home!

I have large eyes that are a very nice shade of grey-blue. Decent legs, too.

I generally very happy with my looks and body and always have been - and I am really not a supermodel! It makes me sad that being unhappy with how they look seems to be the default for women and girls.

You sound beautiful! And yes it makes me unhappy too. It makes me more unhappy that I have allowed myself to fall victim to it. I want to feel truly comfortable in my skin before my kids reach an age where looks really start to matter to them. I would hate for my insecurities to rub off on them

After decades of acne, probably my skin. And my silver hair. I’ve recently lost nearly 4 st and although I look better in clothes, sadly I look shit naked.

I'm sure you don't look shit naked. I suffer with acne as well and it's driving me insane. I also can't win with my stomach because if I gain weight the loose skin fills out but then I look a bit chunky, yet if I loose it it just sags and looks even worse. What did I do to deserve this

Them's the breaks. I feel like you can't have nice tits, nice waist, nice hips/bum, and nice legs (well, it's very rare, and subjective to oppinion and culture).

I recon most of us get 2 out of 4... 3 if we're lucky. There's always that one thing. Mine is def my legs, they are v chunky, i don't show my knees ever! I still love my legs tho, i walk a lot and appeciate them immensely.

This just reminded me that I have been beefing with my knees since I was 16. My friend gave me a prom dress and I just couldn't wear it as it showed my knees. They look like 2 wrinkly ball sacks. Got a new dress in the end. I forgot I hated them, might go check if they've improved any

None of my body parts are anything to write home about, but they seem to work as a whole.

Same.

I'm fairly hideous all over, the only thing I can think of is the shape of my fingernails. Not my fingers, they're short and boney, but my fingernails have a nice curved shape.

I can guarantee that you are not hideous all over. I never considered my nails. I have always had very fast growing, very thick nails. The first time I went to get acrylics done they had to cut them and they broke the nail clipper. The man gave me a dirty look then started bitching about me in mandarin. I was flattered

I'm of an age it's fast disappearing 🤭

Does it do that??

My face, it really makes up for a pretty average body (currently ravaged by a random neurological issue) and cankles. I have very blue eyes too. My stomach and waist are quite good for having kids although below the knicker line shows the c section shelf! In all honestly, since nearly dying you just realise how lucky we really are to be here at all 🩷

Best comment here tbh. In our final moments we won't care about the body we have been obsessing over for how ever long we were fortunate enough to live. Its great to feel confident and be secure but there's so much more to people and life

Interesting thread idea ! My eyes definitely. I was stopped on the street and an artist (female) asked if she could paint me. I wish I could have bought the canvas but alas....it was rather nice (this is in very hazy days of yore) My eyes peering out from under a cloche hat I affected at the time, looking very big in my pale face.
My bottom which has somehow withstood the depredations apparent everywhere else. Tho you couldn't bounce a dime off it now, as one boyfriend claimed he could back in the day 🫠
My cheekbones and my lips.
@AmazingGreatAunt this is a good point, yes I like to do the same.

It's nice to think of these things when all I feel is like a melted wax work most of the time. Thanks OP. And others for sharing 💃🏻😻✨💫

My stomach. It’s always been flat, washboard-esque even after four children. Just wish I never got any stretch marks so I could show it off more!

You can show it off! I subject people to looking at my wrinkly belly most days that its warm. It feels great

I'm going to shock you@worldshottestmom my mother told me I'd never be pretty but I might be elegant at 30! I'm very youthful for my age but I nearly died last year (thank you to the NHS surgeons for saving me).
We all have our good points. Sometimes I feel sorry for men (not often, ha). We can have a make over, hair dye, corsetry. They're stuck if only a mother would love them!
My bff is very fond of men and she says a very funny thing about short men. They're taller when they stand on their wallets!
I personally like the 'three Fs theory'. Men are governed by food, football (substitute other hobbies) and fornication. Simple creatures.
We can spend our lives thinking we're not all that but we all have something.women are awesome, embrace it.

I like my narrow little wrists and my collar bones. They’re quite prominent following weight loss.

I’m quite fascinated with the bottom of my ribs too, also nice and obvious.

This one is weird, but my veins are very obvious now because they’re no longer buried in fat.

I never even considered that any person would not like their wrists before this thread lol

I also like my veins. Whenever I have had to go to hospital and have things injected into me, i always get complimented for having "good veins". Weirdest compliment ive ever received but ill take it

I'm gonna be honest and say I thought that I'd feel positive from this thread, but I'm just realising how ugly I am hahaha

Being chronically ill doesn't mean that you aren't beautiful. Id bet money that you have many admirable features

Agree....you can lose your looks in the blink of an eye. True beauty comes from within.

My hair. Never dyed it or used lots of heat on it.
Now in my mid 40's I thank my younger self on the regular.

I also really like my laughter lines. It sounds horribly cheesy but it reminds me how lucky I am to age.

I’ve got fucking amazing eyelashes. Long, dark, thick. I get loads of compliments on them. I’ve also got a cracking set of cheekbones.
