What's hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life?

Disney World
Starbucks, Costa, Nero etc
Center Parcs
A sensible political stance
McDonald's

What else?

BoJo was great.

What?! Are you mad? I’ve seen him in public twice once speaking at a conference (mad as a box of frogs) and once outside little Waitrose in Wimbledon when I was trying to walk past/cross road. He has a presence is all I can say.

Women who love their men

Could go on but you get the gyst

Humour, especially risque jokes between friends, some MNers would choke on their pearls were they to hear some of the things we say between ourselves!

Any sexual activity in a location which contains, ever has contained or might ever contain a child.

BoJo was great.

I see you're very sensible. 🙃

human interaction!

everything from having friends, answering the door, allowing people to use your toilet, hen parties, christmas do's, liking your colleagues...

No Reform are the extreme on the other side aren't they.

So essentially you think the only sensible political opinion is your own?

Staunch conservative is far better than reform/restore mess I guess but I still wouldn’t go as far to say sensible.

Waiting for all the facts before taking drastic action.

It doesn't matter if you make the situation worse because at least you're doing something.

Hot tubs used to be very popular on Mumsnet when they cost a lot of money. But then the cheaper inflatable ones came along and they were suddenly accessible to the masses, and then they became very unpopular.

Edited

They are ‘tepid sex ponds’

BoJo was great.

Of course he was. That's why his own parliamentary party forced him to resign.

Probably already said but just in case!

Pooing in downstairs loo.

Mn is also against pooing in en suite loos, pooing at work, and pooing in other people's houses. And of course tradesmen may not use any loo where they're working for any reason whatsoever, because they're animals.

Botox and plastic surgery facial (it’s liked and disliked in equal measure).

are Breton tops liked or not?

I love a Breton top, don't care what the MN opinion might be, I wore them before a large % of MNers were even born! Also loved a Guernsey, just reminded to buy another one.

On Mumsnet every SAHP thread says the working parent MUST be paying into an independent pension for the SAHP. I've never heard of this happening in real life with SAHPs!

I work full time and so does DH and we earn similarly, so I have no skin in the game but it does seem very different to RL to me

You haven't noticed MN is absurdly liberal, if you haven't I suspect you are probably one of them!

I don't see Mumsnet poster as absurdly liberal anymore. In the past yes, but now so many posts are to the extreme right and probably more a reflection of wider societies direction with the openness of hostility to migrants and people on benefits.

Men in frocks
I often wonder if the whole trans debate has been fabricated by MN to keep it in business

Did I imagine that whole Supreme Court thing, then?

Goodness.

Mangelwurzelfortea · Yesterday 11:50

Mumsnet is not 'absurdly liberal.' As someone who leans left, I find it pretty right-wing most of the time, with an explosion of horribly Reformy views recently. But clearly there are people on here who think that makes me a communist.

JeremiaBoogle · Yesterday 11:51

People having different opinions to them

A dislike that frequently reported as whatever the posters opinion is being "hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life".

Meow 😻 😂
