What's hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life?

Disney World
Starbucks, Costa, Nero etc
Center Parcs
A sensible political stance
McDonald's

What else?

If not wanting my 9 year old daughter alone in a public toilet with a grown man wearing a dress and pretending to be a woman makes me obsessed, then so be it.

Have no idea why you would allow that tbh. If she was mine, I would be with her.

Depends what the dog is doing, if it’s savaging someone and the owner says “he’s just being friendly” then huh? Or dog at table in pub restaurant. Or dog near patrons when out. Whether you like it or not. I don’t mind dogs though.

Agree with your “depends on what the dog is doing” comment.

I love my dog, but I make damn sure she’s not a bloody nuisance to anyone, anywhere. She is not allowed to approach people, bark pointlessly, or make herself a pest. We do not go in kids play areas or non- dog spaces and I always pick up poo and dispose of properly.

The posts that irritate me are the ones that say, “all dogs” are noisy, smelly, full of germs, terrifying attackers that eat people.

My dog is none of these, nor have any of my dogs been, over a lifetime of dog ownership. She keeps me safe, keeps me company and loves me no matter what. She’s the reason to get up in the morning and the reason we go out in all weathers. She was a rescue and she’s so bloody happy with life now she lifts my heart every day.

And she sleeps on the bed next to me.

So Shoot Me 🐾

Why?

Because you think men can become women.

Apologies for bringing up a C-related subject in June, but all too often, parents who ‘lie’ to their young children, and so encourage them to believe in Father Christmas/Santa.

Although if you took out the weekend tv guide, sales for the mail on Saturday would plummet…

Along with Mothers-in law, and Men, proportional responses, appear to be disliked.

For example the too many to count people who exclaim
'Wow' at a difference of opinion, or something totally 'Un Wow' and not in the least bit surprising or shocking.

Add to that a conventional level of understanding as noted by how many people seem 'baffled' at a concept...are they seriously unable to grasp reasonable simple concepts?

Happening frequently.

Agree. It's usually followed by the rather disingenuous, 'I'm confused...'

SilverSilk · Yesterday 16:20

Differentforgirls · Yesterday 14:52

It does mean that! What other possible thing could it mean. A BATH room. Plus, are you actually saying that I'm insane and belligerent for disagreeing with you?

Calling toilets ‘bathrooms’ is an Americanism. Perhaps the OP is American. I don’t think so though. I think some people use social media a lot these days and start using American words like vacation instead of holiday. I will stick with ‘toilets’.

This is the dumbest response to any post, and seems to recur on her frequently.

You haven’t “hit a nerve” every time someone disagrees with you. It’s just disagreement.

I find this is often what people say when their original point is particularly ill-founded.

Yes, that is one of the annoying clichés overused here. As is ‘I bet you’re fun at parties’. And ‘are you the OP’? So tedious to read and written by people with nothing else useful to add.

I have yet to meet a DC traumatised into adulthood, because parents played a little game with them over the Christmas period. Father Christmas is more of a cultural celebration than a lie.

I have never met an adult that believes in Father Christmas and I think DC get over it.

Gosh, what are your thoughts on the tooth fairy?

I think the PP is just saying this is something hated on Mn but not in real life, not her opinion
