What's hated on MN, but insanely popular in real life?

Disney World
Starbucks, Costa, Nero etc
Center Parcs
A sensible political stance
McDonald's

What else?

At the risk of sounding like an uncouth heathen, what on earth do people use if they don't use toilet brushes or kitchen roll?! Their bare hands??

Keep a large jug near the loo. Fill with warm water and pour over unfortunate ‘poo tatoos’ on the bowl within minutes of them being created.
You may still need bleech etc, but not nearly to the same extent.
I hope that wasn’t too graphic…

Leaving bullies out of birthday parties. No way would I socialise with mean people and I never expected my kids to either.

Friends. People on Mumsnets are all saints who can't do enough for their friends even though said friends constantly let them.down. Or they have no friends at all and are very proud of this.

My experience is rather different and when Im out in the evening I always see plenty of people having a good time with their mates

Slightest sign of disturbance overnight and you get ‘just co sleep’

No thanks. I’ll tolerate DH but otherwise the bed is a food, laptop and child free zone

DB and his wife co sleep with their kids. The 2.5 year old sleeps with mum, almost 8 year old with dad. Hopefully changing in summer. Neighbours do similar but have 8 month old baby and 6 year old.

When I took DNephew to his grandparents in Bath last summer I refused to sleep with him in a double bed (his parents weren’t there), his grandma had to. I guess I would’ve done it if she wouldn’t do it. He’s actually ok to sleep in same bed but is very tall for his age.

Answering the door!.

Not being able to drive.

I can drive and my kids both passed at 18. But I couldn’t care less if other people can drive or not. Not driving is seen as a character flaw on here, which I don’t really understand if somebody isn’t constantly asking for lifts.

We certainly are. I will never "other" people. You are comfortable doing it.

I have no idea what either of you are talking about tbh.

I do think we should stop using the American work bathroom.

And move to having all private cubicles of the main concourse, containing a sink. Then everyone is safe - including from their own sex.

This is so true. People are often very aggressive about the idea that public transport works perfectly fine for a lot of people. It's as if they want British cities to be like LA

I feel “sensible political stance” may be subjective

Blimey no wonder there’s that other thread about no one going to cub camp.

Only a couple of years and the 8 yo will be on school trips away for a week.

Not if you think blokes can become women.

Agree with men
Sex (anyone who has sex more than once a month on here is considered a pervert/liar/bragging/anti feminist)
Life celebrations - weddings/birthdays etc everyone I know loves to celebrate with the people they care about but on MN its considered on a par with having a root canal
Driving a nice, expensive car - everyone I know IRL loves a nice car but on MN its considered tacky/showing off/bad for the environment
Holidays- same as the nice car
Summer- everyone I know yearns for warm summer evenings and days out in the warm balmy weather but on MN people are apparently never happier than when they are out in freezing, lashing rain, their toes turning blue with cold and splashing in ice cold puddles for "fun" and drawing the curtains at 3pm and sitting in total darkness like a blind mole rat

He’s been away on an overnight trip with the school camping, that was apparently ok as he was with other kids, and they barely slept. SIL initiated this, no criticism, her mum used to do it with her and her brother. Her own brother and SIL don’t do this though with their own DC and I’m sure it’s been criticised on their family holidays. Trust me, me and DM have talked about this. One year when he was 6 and staying at my DM’s house alone (sleeping by himself) he was crying so much I had to drive over (I live nearby) to help calm him down as he was so upset, wouldn’t go to sleep no matter what and DM’s cat got on the bed to comfort him. He actually did sleep that night by himself.

Yes. I mean, surely the fewer drivers on the road the better?!

I don’t mean he personally goes to cubs - there’s another thread about cub camps not being taken up. I was thinking if it’s common for 8 yo’s to be co-sleeping then no wonder!

But I just mean 8 is very old
to be co sleeping

Why would you think that?

No. I thought it was a stupid thing to post - and is meaningless without further explanation.

No it isn’t. Most of us know exactly what the OP meant.

Came to say this. I don't know anyone in real life who would know what it stood for.
I mean, they'd get the concept of shit meat/better foods etc but not thee term (or the turmoil around) UPF 🤷‍♀️

Not in my circles
