To be disappointed with how soft play handled this man

I reported an inappropriate sexual comment made by another parent at a soft play area yesterday.

I was climbing down from one of the raised areas with my DS and didn’t realise he was climbing up. I said a polite sorry and he replied not to worry and that if he knew his £10 entry included him getting an arse in his face he would have visited months ago. I challenged him and then reported to staff.

The staff approached me 10/15 minutes later to say they’d spoken to him and he had admitted saying that but was ‘obviously joking’ and he relayed his apologies, so they considered the matter sorted.

Personally, I think he should have been asked to leave. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and could have gone on to say similar to other parents present.

That’s not what you were asking, you literally said regarding your comparison to 16 year olds. There you go tho being all twisty again. What a waste of time

It's such a simple question to answer...if you have one. You could've answered just then, instead of the little dodge you just wrote.

I'm sorry that you find my very simple questions of "why is it acceptable to say that to a woman? Is it acceptable to say to a teenage girl? Why is it acceptable to say to a woman but not a teenage girl" too hard to follow.

So it'd be fine to say to a 16 year old girl? 17 year old? 18 year old...?

It’s fine to say to an adult… HTH

Many people have already explained this, in words to the effect of:

Because sometimes is it okay to say things to women that you wouldn't say to girls.

Why is it okay to make an unsolicited sexual comment to a woman?

By saying he found OP's arse in his face to be sexually gratifying, such that he was happy to pay £10 for it. I think that just made things more awkward, by making an unsolicited sexual 'joke'.

I don’t suppose he’d studied OPs arse that carefully to be honest, maybe she was only worth a fiver in reality, but being an off the cuff remark 🤷‍♀️

So why is it fine to make an unsolicited sexual comment to an 18+ woman? Are we now okay with cat calls, too? Your boss making sexual innuendo?

lokitree · 11/06/2026 15:23

It would make me uncomfortable too, but not to the point of complaining and I wouldn’t have expected him to leave. I probably would’ve angrily texted a friend and been quite offended personally but I definitely wouldn’t have done anything about it. As much as it’s offensive and rude, it is also harmless and he was making a (poor) joke. I think you need to let it go op

It depends if it’s a joke, like in the OP or something remotely serious!

Rather than keep repeating the same questions over and over again to different people, why don't you go back and read the last few pages of the thread?

It was a silly, lewd joke. Some adults find silly, lewd jokes quite funny.

SouthLondonMum22 · 11/06/2026 15:25

It really shouldn't be tolerated at all in society and he should've been asked to leave. It isn't funny, why couldn't he have simply stopped at 'don't worry about it'?

So you think men should be able to make unsolicited sexual 'jokes' to women, if they feel like it? And women should just take it? Why?

Phoenixfire1988 · 11/06/2026 15:26

I would of found it funny and it would of eased the embarrassment of shoving my arse in a strangers face at a soft play !

So a man saying, "while you're down there, love" is fine, as it's a joke?

are you playing one of those games that you have to say the numbers so many times in a day?

So your numbers are 16,17 and 18.

Mine is 20.

Go back and read the 20 replies you’ve got to this question!

There you are I’ve used 20 three times now !

Please explain why this is ok to say to a woman?

Because it's true. But if it'll make you feel less offended to imagine I was 'just joking' then please, feel free.

And I guess you don't have an actual answer, huh? Except that you think it's grand for men to make unsolicited sexual comments to women, as long as it's 'a joke'.

I meant to imply that the women on this thread who are displaying internalised misogyny, are very busy catering to precious male feelings. HTH.

(I'm not sure that either 'pick me' or 'dick pandering' is a slur.)

You said maybe it was only worth a fiver. Unpleasant and unkind.

Maybe all women are worth far more than just a sum of money.

pollyhilly · 11/06/2026 15:34

There’s a difference between someone letching/harassing and an (admittedly misjudged) joke. He was probably just trying to alleviate an awkward moment. I would have laughed too and obviously he shouldn’t have been asked to leave. What an embarrassing overreaction.

It probably took a lot for a man to take his child to a women dominated play area, and will probably never return, poor bloke.

Given you think this is acceptable, because you don’t agree with another woman, that we’re sick panderers, then I’m not sure your opinion holds much importance.

If you stood in front of me and called me a dick panderer, I think the outcome would be interesting!

Would you say that to a 16,17,18 year old? Why is it therefore acceptable to say it on here? There may be 16,17,18 year olds reading? But even if not, why is it acceptable to say it to older women?
