Really Hello Fresh? Jumping on the Pride bandwagon and promoting your high fibre offering to gay men? Utterly grim.

OP posts:

Only gay men clean their anus for sex. Sure other people would but in pride then it's clear its aimed at them..so weird the advert

i know lesbian and hetero couples who do anal using a strap on

bloooooberry · 08/06/2026 16:42

the pearl clutching on here is hilarious. as are the people who have tried to make this about halal meat and reform. it's ok to relax you know!

But do they do it while food shopping?

not really the same thing lol... but yes i know of people who will want to eat in a certain way beforehand.

"Grim" is so MN. This is just naff. Theres some very sensitive flowers around.

When people are preparing meals it's unlikely they're thinking about bowel movements. To deliberately link the two isn't just naff, it's plain stupid.

Dunno about that. When I’m making my lentil soup I just know that I’m going to be making a few trips to the toilet over the coming days. Still make it and eat it though!

nopenotplaying · 08/06/2026 16:54

Gross. And what about the lesbians 🤔

Would you mention it to your dinner guests though? Or keep it to yourself?

fatphalange · 08/06/2026 17:09

Ah he’s because gay men are so promiscuous they are too busy shagging to the extent stopping to eat is secondary. And that’s before we get to the crass ‘our food will give you a clean shit so you can get back to shagging each other up the arse’ message. It’s just so lovely isn’t it. In reality, gay sex isn’t even all about anal sex. They probably don’t have it any more than hetero couples do!

Gloriia · 08/06/2026 17:12

If I was thinking about hello fresh this'd put me right off. Do we really need silly little comments about anal sex to promote somthing? Unless of course it's lube which this isn't. Wankers.

Gloriia · 08/06/2026 17:14

Tbh all the podgy blokes ive seen bursting out of their skimpy outfits on these parades I think they most certainly are not only thinking about food but consuming great quantities.

Papster · 08/06/2026 17:22

Apparently the follow up will be “Goes down like a shit sandwich”

Nothingeverlastsforever · 08/06/2026 17:30

Fucks sake it was a light hearted comment.

To your point, my DH does know I have IBS thanks. If I was preparing Hello Fresh I’d probably be mentioning it to him too

Your DH is one thing. Dinner guests are quite another.

A potential customer base you don't know... well that's a huge gamble.

Just saying. Context is so important.

You'd tell your friends and family that after eating your soup you'd be waiting for it to come out the other end? Or for the Hello Fresh to come out the other end?

Classy.

TBF, the joke itself is not a million miles away from the type of homophobic joke that was mainstream in the 80s and 90s.

I can see why people who lived through that era are having a bit of a "oh, no mate" reaction. It's the sort of dig a homophobic uncle might make. "Oh off the Pride are you? Hope you're eating a high fibre diet." Smirk.

Thats true. Anal sex jokes and jabs at gay people were plentiful back then and yes, it was homophobic.
Now we're seeing it all again only this time we're supposed to think its all cool and funny?

TempestTost · 08/06/2026 18:08

TheLoneliestSnail · 08/06/2026 11:19

If this had been done ten years ago, there would have been outrage because it’s so offensive to gay people. What the fuck has happened in the world in the last few years? I don’t get it.

It's weird. More and more over the last year, the stuff that seems to be coming out of political progressive culture is really leaning hard into stereotyping. Be it around sexuality or race or sex, but especially sexuality and race.

And when I say that I mean the kinds of stereotypes that would have been seen as cringe or offensive back in the 90s and maybe even the 80s.

ohyesido · 08/06/2026 18:09

To be fair a lot of people who don’t know what HelloFresh is will do now, because of the outrage over this advert. So a fait accompli

But knowing what it is doesn't equate to buying their products. If your advertisement puts off your customers it's not much use

Hello Freshs SM post says:

“We know eating isn't always a top priority this month.
We respect that.
But for those of you who are... prepping... we have an extensive lineup of high-fiber recipes available.
Happy Pride”

It’s a reference to emptying the bowels in preparation for anal sex

Yeah no… that doesn’t need to be related to food 🤮

now, if they did a high fibre recipe plan push for prostate and bowel cancer awareness in men… even during pride month because men are terrible at looking after themselves when it comes to DRs … bring it on. Would be an amazing campaign.

but for anal sex… gay guys have that mostly figured out ime.

ElenOfTheWays · 08/06/2026 16:20

No. It was about a whole lot of NAMALTers getting butthurt when asked not to be part of the problem.

It was the assumption that they might be that made them stop buying Gillette. The advert was very ill advised and destroyed the brand.

Should say brand value.

<<<<<massively missing the point>>>>>>

I've got to page 4 and still cannot see if this is anatomically correct?

Does one need to take a poo before anal?

Edited

Technically, no.

Yes I've noticed that too. I wonder why it is? It seems really counterproductive.
