A horse! Although she has made my life a lot busier (and more expensive…), she has definitely improved my wellbeing Smile

Floofle · 10/06/2026 12:58

I got a robot lawnmower from Lidl last year and we love her! It took an hour or so to bury the cable and she takes a while to do the entire lawn but it looks lovely now and I cba mowing.

Hi-gear Vegas XL Camping Chair. We go to lots of outdoor all day sporting events. This chair is into its 4th year, there's enough wrap around that in the winter it acts like a wind breaker but in the summer it isn't sweaty. I've used it loads already this summer as it's more comfy than our garden chairs. It's big enough that an obese person (me) can sit in it cross legged and the back comes up high enough that I can rest my head. Everyone comments on how comfy it is.

Portable air con unit, a Stanley travel cup (keeps my drink hot all day) and a wagon for days out with my children - saves carrying lots of bags as well as the kids when their legs get tired!

Similar, my YETI cup.

i bought the first one as a present and was horrified at the price…whilst I continued to use my freebie promotional merch version.

A direct comparison, me with stone cold coffee, the YETI user still sipping and leaving the lid open, to cool their scorching hot drink!

Money well spent. Used for car journeys, the allotment, walks, work, etc.

I think I’m going to invest in a second so I’ve always got a clean one for the next day, washing it is the last thing on my mind when I get home from work late at night. I definitely drink far more water with this. well worth the money, going to look at the YETI brand now!

A gravel bike!

Me too...it's an n+1 and brings me so much joy...and bruises 😂

I use a heated electric coaster on my desk. I love a big mug of tea but often get distracted at work and this keeps my tea hot.

Totallyfedupnow · 11/06/2026 23:18

influencers make my skin crawl.

I do however love my Fiskars Xact weed puller. It has totally transformed my enthusiasm towards my garden.

BettyscakeShop · 12/06/2026 06:43

For those mentioning travel mugs. I take my tea black, it takes ages to cool down to drink. All travel mugs keep it too warm to actually drink so I have to take the lid off and then it cooks down. Any recommendations?

ElixirOfLife · 12/06/2026 07:10

I have one of these too, it’s fab! I went for the longest version which reaches from the back garden to the front. Love it!

Robot lawnmower.

This is my gift to myself from my mum's (small) legacy.

She would probably have had a fit at the cost, but it makes me so happy to look out of the window and see it (him) trundling up and down the lawn.

I can now spend time in the garden doing other, more interesting stuff (such as weeding!)

@AlwaysPerplexed Hi just wondered what happens with the robot mowers on the first mow of the year. Does that need a normal mower or can the robot cope with the longer grass? Thanks 🙏

Wiseplumnet · 12/06/2026 08:25

Coffee aeropress, 10 cactus plants which are apparently the only indoor plants that I can keep alive ,some of them are flowering now and I am very pleased with them.

PersephoneParlormaid · 12/06/2026 08:31

I have a basic Nespresso machine that makes an espresso and I wouldn’t be without it. I struggle to drink instant coffee now.

Wiseplumnet · 12/06/2026 08:38

Another thing I bought recently and has been a game changer for chronic neck and shoulder pain is a Tempur pillow. It was nearly 100 quid but has proved worth every penny, took a few weeks to feel the difference, but I can swivel my head like an owl now!

Well I mowed the lawn before the robot did his first cut, so it wasn't too long, and as we don't have GPS the mow is very random, had I left it for the mower to cut then there would have been lots of weird paths through the grass until it had covered the whole lawn.

Another benefit for me is the relief that I never now have to look at the lawn and think 'that needs mowing'. It's strange as I have only gained a few hours per week, it just feels more (mental load etc).

Rice cooker. It’s a small bear model with steamer and it changed my life!

A rice cooker, recommended by a friend who is Chinese.

I thought it would feel like cheating but actually it's amazing. I'll never cook rice any other way ever again (well, except biryani).

This was mine too! I was raised eating rice and so find it easy to prep on the stove. I never understood the need for a rice cooker but all my friends of various East Asian descent use them. Colleagues of mine (Malaysian / Chinese) convinced me to get one and I wish I had got one years ago!

Ooh I was looking at one of these!! Do they really work? For dandelions in grass and also weeds in flowerbeds?

We don't have a normal mower, just the robot.
She coped fine with the first mow. Although I had left her plugged in all winter which killed the battery, but after replacing that it was fine.
Usually they leave very fine grass cuttings all over the lawn, which just turn into mulch, but after the first mow there were long grass cuttings everywhere so I did actually do a quick rake, which I don't usually have to.

PublicHare · 12/06/2026 13:42

Laundry sheets because I can keep them in a drawer, saving much needed space.. Didn't like the pods as they seem to get stuck in the front of my door leaving a slimy mess.
