Harry Windsor getting upset about Peter Phillips

Am I missing something? There is a story in the press today about Harry refusing to go to Peter Phillips's wedding, allegedly because he sold his first wedding to Hello (or OK) magazine. What am I missing here - these magazines have featured Kate and William's wedding, Sophie and Edward, Eugenie and Jack, loads of them. Including his own wedding to Meghan. I thought that's just what they do, so what's Harry's issue? Is it that Peter Phillips got paid and the rest didn't?

The excuse given by Harry is something to do with upsetting him about his girlfriend Chelsy Davy. He's supposedly so happy with Meghan, so why does anything to do with Chelsy bother him now?

For info, this is not a "royal bashing" "Meghan bashing" post. It's to get understanding of how these things work.

There is a world of difference doing a deal with Oprah and Netflix where you have control of the content and doing a deal with the tabloids who despite any deal will print whatever crap they like under the guise of “an insider says…”. Hypocrisy would be doing a deal with the Daily Mail to publish an exclusive when he has criticised the Daily Mail for intrusion. It’s not even slightly nuanced, I’m surprised people can’t tell the difference.

Meghan doesn’t want to come to UK and she won’t let Harry go on his own. He has to do as he’s told.
They can’t say that of course, so hence the weak cover story.

Also, yes Peter (and Zara) don’t have titles, as requested by their mother. And yes it isn’t officially a Royal Wedding but Peter clearly is a royal so yes it’s a royal wedding (without all the pomp) not just a celeb or high society bash.

It’s more than likely made by tosh by the tabloids anyway.

There is zero evidence Harry said anything, just the daily fail making up stories.

A less juicy, but far more likely explanation, is that, as Harry doesn’t get on with the majority of his family, and that his presence would create a media circus around what’s supposed to be a quiet event, and given he’s a cousin rather than a sibling, and that his attendance would require external security, he simply hasn’t been invited.

I’m no fan of Harry and Meghan, but their detractors really do tie themselves in knots to come up with scandal or criticism. There was one poster on here virtually frothing at the mouth when he didn’t go to the Duchess of Kent’s funeral. She was his grandmother’s cousin’s wife, for heaven’s sake! I couldn’t pick my grandmother’s cousins out of a line-up!

Are you sure it was about Harry? There was an article in the DM yesterday all about William and Kate's rift with Peter Phillips. That was all about wedding photos and magazines too and more or less the same story.

Or, tabloids using any royal story to shoehorn in a false story about Harry, because they know their readers will fall for it and rush to the comments section, bringing in £££ for them, as usual.

When I saw the reports of the wedding, I wondered how long it would take for a Harry story to pop up. Not long, as I suspected.

Because it isn’t about what he did to her, it was what he did to him. I had a boyfriend in my 20s that one friend was really shitty to for no clear reason. It really affected our friendship and also my relationship. I haven’t spoken to her for 30 years and I’ve been happily married for 20 of those.

Harry is a very bitter man. He has had all of the privilege and none of the responsibility all his life.

He blames the tabloids for his mother’s death but she played a game with them (briefing them as to where she would be at various times, shagging high profile married men, doing the ‘doe eyed innocent’ look etc ) and it cost her life.

Plenty of people have tragic circumstances but whining on about it in public nearly 30 years on is just boring.

I’d be surprised if he was invited since Harry would take over the headlines before and after the wedding. I think Peter will want to remain in William and the King’s good books too so not inviting Harry makes sense.

Yep - how many clicks do you think they'd get for 'minor royal gets married'. Let's face it, nobody is clamouring for news of what Peter Phillips is getting up to. Maybe a few royal fans would care, few more might like to look at the outfits. Hence shoehorning in stories about Harry because they know it'll get clicks and clicks = advertising revenue. They know they can make up any old shite about Harry and Meghan.
