Do you let your dog piss up someone else’s bin?

Every week when we put the bin out ready for collection, our ring doorbell picks up the same neighbour who lives round the corner, let their big ass dog piss up our bin. Would this bother you and would you say something?

MN and the bin obsessions.
It’s a plastic bin, if you’re that worried chuck a bucket of water on it.

Are you kidding?! Why should I? Because there are so many terrible entitled irresponsible dog owners who let their mutts piss and shit wherever they like, I have to chuck a bucket of water over my dog-piss covered bin so I don't get the foul stinking dog piss all over my hands and jeans etc. Good grief. No wonder so many people loathe so many dog owners now! 🙄

Does it matter who it belongs to don’t let your dog piss on it

and people wonder why there so much hate and negativity towards dogs and dog owners

👏👏👏

I know it’s horrible, I was just saying a cat can’t be controlled 24 hours a day, unlike a dog

Funny this, but I NEVER see cat shit all over a pavement. See plenty of dog shit though. 100% from the same dogs who piss all over peoples bins and cardboard recycling bag!

And people wonder why so many people dislike dog owners?! 😂

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 21:23

Well you guys are all lucky and in my council area we have to buy our own bins. I was livid when someone stole one of mine!

i have a command for my dogs so if they start to cock their leg against something I don’t want them to they will stop. Ultimately they are territory marking and once they’ve emptied their bladder they just cock their leg and there’s no wee.

the vitriol towards dog owners on here is odd given more comments than not from dog owners have said they do pull their dog away

EXACTLY this! 👏 There are some really entitled dog owners, there really are! Some of the posts on here are batshit. These people walk among us! 😬

The cat shit is all over my garden.

The cat shit is all over my garden.

Well there is none over mine ... Or anyone else's in my street.

Tell me you're a dog owner without telling me you're a dog owner! 😂

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 21:27

Well since I got my dog I don’t have cat shit all over my garden so that was a win

I do have a cat that persistently tries to get into my house though. Total pain in the summer when I want to keep the garden doors open

vodkaredbullgirl · 12/05/2026 21:32

Think some people need a dog to calm them down a bit 😂

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 12/05/2026 21:34

Dog owners who let their dogs pee e on niños or cars or other people's players property are gross.
Nancy Birtwhistle posted a dog/cat fox deterrent not long ago you could try.

I mean… ok? Just because there’s none in yours, doesn’t mean there’s none in mine. And I was talking about mine, not yours, obviously.

Too busy looking after their council bins. Not enough love to go round.

I think the main reason I've had female dogs is because of cocking leg up everywhere, much like fellas really. Loved my male dogs growing up but lifting leg to pee and nothing you can do about it in that moment 😆

It would of course be nice of the owner to use different routes so not always your bin. Personally I really couldn't care less, it's a bin, not intending to rub my hands down it.

Much better than dog shit as you step outside of your house, now that's irresponsible and lazy.

This

Charlottapannacotta · 12/05/2026 21:40

Got a dog and no. Wouldn’t allow mine to wee on any bins

VenusClapTrap · 12/05/2026 22:09

It’s just rude and inconsiderate, isn’t it? And yet another dog related annoyance that makes me continue my slow but steady slide from dog ambivalence to dog dislike.

Allseeingallknowing · 12/05/2026 13:27

Then you should be ashamed of yourself. You are supposed to be in control of your dog.

That was a joke. I don't let him wee on cars but I let him wee on fences etc because that is natural and normal dog behaviour and it's one of the reasons we take our dogs for walks.

A male dog will not wee in the garden before going out because that's not how male dogs behave. So bugger off with your shaming. I'm just a normal human being taking a dog for a walk. This thread is completely bonkers. You're all like the insane neighbour in Small Prophets. Especially Zov who clearly adores her bin and spends much time looking after it.

Don't let your dog pee on my fence! (or etc...whatever that means).

snoringnights · 12/05/2026 23:41

Yes. My dog does

SnobblyBobbly · 13/05/2026 00:15

Fucking hell. How boring must your life be? 😆 You do know there are more exciting things to watch right? Ring isn’t a tv channel.

DiscoBeat · 13/05/2026 00:37

I have a dog and no, of course not. People don't want a urine soaked bin in their garden

Zanatdy · 13/05/2026 01:15

Yes bins stink, but no, I wouldn’t let my dog cock his leg against someone’s bin like that. So rude.

mondaytosunday · 13/05/2026 01:48

I definitely try to avoid my dog doing that but on my street of terrace houses there’d be two bins out pet house every few feet and it’s almost impossible to drag him away from all as we would walk by at least 50 bins before we got to the park!

Sillygoose100 · 13/05/2026 05:55

I was thinking this the other day when I was sat in traffic and saw a dog do a really long wee up the side of someone's bin and thought its disgusting when that will then sit in someone's back garden.

We have a female dog so she doesn't do that but if we had a male dog I wouldn't let them.

ramonaquimby · 13/05/2026 07:50

Noodge · 12/05/2026 11:21

I have a female dog but I used to have a male and once they decide they're going there's not much you can do about it. But having said that, I honestly could not give less of a bother if someone's dog weed up my bin. Do you bring your bin into your living area? Or enjoy sniffing it? 😯

Sure you can. Tug on their lead and move them...! Or surely you anticipate this. I'm on the disgusting camp. See also tires and fences

velvetrope · 13/05/2026 07:58

hmmm, I have a female dog so she doesnt do this but considering our front garden has some cat shit in it from our neighbours cats I think they would be rather bloody hypocritical to moan about a bit of wee considering what their cat does 🤮

as far as I am concerned, cat poo is far worse than urine. Yet noone seems up in arms about cats roaming around shitting everywhere
