Do you let your dog piss up someone else’s bin?

Every week when we put the bin out ready for collection, our ring doorbell picks up the same neighbour who lives round the corner, let their big ass dog piss up our bin. Would this bother you and would you say something?

I’m confused at all the outrage, but am not in the UK. Do you have to touch the bottom or sides of your bins? Mine are above waist height, have wheels and have a handle at the top, on the side, to drag it around by.
Would you care if a dog weed on a bin like that? I can’t bring myself to worry about it, but perhaps you have to touch your bins’ nether regions?!

Same bins here - where I am at least. The outrage is because it’s a thread about dogs. There’s all manner of creatures on and around bins and all sorts of shit going inside them. It’s just dogs people lose their minds over.

No I always try to steer mine away from anything he could pee up unless a fence etc, so don't like letting him pee up car tyres or bins.
I once let my guard down for a second and he peed up a battered old suitcase outside a charity shop. I went inside, offered to pay etc and they binned it. I felt awful.

CitizenZ · Today 12:50

If only there was some sort of liquid that could come out of the sky at regular intervals and wash it all away. 🤔

FinallyMovingHouse · Today 12:52

Nope, I don't let mine pee on bins, but I do have to let him pee on the occasional front wall or fence, as we're very urban and if I didn't he'd never get to pee anywhere. I also NEVER put poo bags in other people's bins, as I used to live on a marked walk and the number of poo bags in our bin was out of this world. We ended up moving the bin to stop it.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · Today 12:58

I don't think it's the dogs that are the problem, it's their owners. Letting your dog piss over somebody else's property just about sums up bad dog owners. I've helped on a friend's craft stall and had dogs piss on cushions near the ground/against tablecloths and the owners are most indignant about paying for the damage.

Just because you don't mind dogs pissing on your stuff don't assume that others will be fine with it.

Yes ,there’s plenty of it but it doesn’t wash it off, unfortunately, unless torrential.

Yes that would bother me. As a dog owner I would never let my dogs do that. I would have to say something.

Allseeingallknowing · Today 13:13

Whether it’s a bin, wall or fence, owners should have the decency to steer their dogs away from them. There’s plenty of other places to take their dogs, yet the owners happily stand there while Fido pees away on someone’s wall as if it’s nothing to do with them. They think their dogs are entitled to foul others’ properties. Once a dog has peed in one area the others will follow. Often the surface deteriorates, discolours and smells. If metal it goes rusty. Can’t be on constant duty squirting it every time, with sprays which are mostly useless. Yes other creatures pee and poo everywhere but I don’t see many foxes, squirrels or rats doing it around here!

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · Today 13:16

I wouldn’t allow my dog to do it, but equally I wouldn’t care if someone let their dog piss up my bin. It’s a bin, it’s dirty and it lives outside.
The person who allows their dog to do a massive pee on my front lawn bothers me, because I now have a big dead patch. Equally the cat that shits on my back garden every morning bothers me because I have to go and pick it up before one of my kids steps in it. All part and parcel of living alongside animals though I guess.

The dog owner is disgusting. Why do you put up with it?

The cat bothers me more to be honest.

Not letting dogs piss on people’s things will stop it too

👏👏👏

What's wrong with mongrels? I have a pedigree Bichon but he doesn't realise there's a dog hierarchy and wees everywhere. Even on your car wheels when you're not looking.

Then you should be ashamed of yourself. You are supposed to be in control of your dog.

Havesomefaith · Today 13:29

peonysinthesunshine · Yesterday 22:42

I agree it’s the smell of it that also bothers me and the complete lack of consideration for others property? Just seems so rude to me

I hate people putting their bins out on narrow pavements when I am trying to walk past with a dog and a pram. You leave your property on the public street then that’s your issue

muddyford · Today 13:30

Only when the bin owner can't be arsed to put it back on their land several days after being emptied and it's still on the pavement. Been tempted to put the poo bags in it but have so far resisted.

MandingoAteMyBaby · Today 13:34

It’s utterly disgusting. If a man was going round pissing on bins he’d be arrested.

You can’t even sit under a tree in a park and lean on the trunk because you just know the grass and bark is saturated with grim shitehound piss.

Harhar · Today 13:35

Oh, here comes the voice of reason.

BeardySchnauzer · Today 13:35

I don’t let my dogs wee on anything that might be picked up or touched (or gates as no one wants to see a trail of wee as they are leaving their house) as I think it’s rude to the binmen or whoever will be picking the item up.

I think once the dog has wee’d on it once it becomes part of their marking routine though so you could try scrubbing it down with whatever the substance is to get rid of the smell at dog level

Hmm
Purplecatshopaholic · Today 13:42

I wouldn’t let mine do that, no. If it happened by mistake I wouldn’t lose sleep though, it’s a bin at the end of the day. If my neighbours dogs did it to mine, it would also be a rare mistake, and again I wouldn’t be overly bothered.

Morepositivemum · Today 13:44

It would bother me that they don’t tug him away from where your property is standing. There’s trees and lampposts to piss against!!

Kitt1 · Today 13:47

No, I wouldn’t allow my dog to do that or piss up car tyres etc.

Some dog owners are extremely manky bastards and shouldn’t be allowed out without proper adult supervision. 😡

Yes they should be tugging them away, but have you seen the discolouration around the base of lampposts, plus the metal corrodes over time? How about owners let their dogs pee all over their own lawns, if they have them?

MyTrivia · Today 13:55

Yes it would bother me! How disgusting some dog owners are.

BetFreda · Today 13:56

Someone let their dogs piss over my recycling bins that had been left for collection on the pavement. I have to pick them up after emptying and move into the yard. I don’t want to touch dog piss! It’s so incredibly rude, I can’t believe people don’t think and let their dog piss everywhere they want.
