I’ve just seen that the Hantavirus is in Liverpool?! They’ve been brought to Liverpool? I’ve got a 2 day work conference there and now I’m worried 😢 I suffer terribly with health anxiety. AIBU?

Sadly not a troll, otherwise they'd be gone. Just a clever-clever poster who likes to post 'funny' stuff like this.

I’m here and I don’t feel any better. It feels so close on the map. 11 miles away from me.

why on earth did you go knowing you would be like this
my sister is having a baby IN ARROWE PARK
you are being ridiculous

Honestly OP, I don't think posting on this thread is helping. You are not listening to reassurance and are instead seizing on anything which will bolster your fear.

I agree with @Lins77
Why are you only listening to people who are unintentionallyscaring you? Why can't you pay as much attention to the high percentage of posters who are trying to reassure you and provide you with some facts as supposed to supposition? How on earth did you cope during the coronovirus outbreak?

Hantavirus can't travel 11 miles. It can't go through walls either. Give your head a wobble and rationalise instead of making up unrealistic scenarios.

And try to find a therapist who can help you.

If I had to go up north Hantavirus would be the least of my worries.

I very much doubt they would want such a judgemental individual amongst them up in the North.
I've visited North many times, Cheshire, Manchester, York, Whitby all absolutely stunning with such lovely friendly chatty people.
Best you stay put then, wherever you live.
I'm from Scotland originally but live in South East of England. I'd live up North in a heartbeat.

Hanta charged rats aren't going to swim across the Mersey to you.

Focacciaisyum · 12/05/2026 15:59

If anyone wants a new fear to unlock i've just learnt that aggressive tiger leeches CAN JUMP ON YOU FROM THE FOREST FLOOR!!!! No we dont have them in the UK (as far as I know) but OMG.

WTF!

Which bit of "up north" offends you so much? Where do you live?

I think it's an attempt at humour.

They'd have to use the tunnel and pay the toll like everyone else 😜

It’d be one hell of a sneeze to make it that distance.

😂
They could get the "Ferry Cross the Mersey" and sing along to the song.

I beg your pardon? The north of England is absolutely beautiful! Far nicer than filthy London! Where I live is an AONB! (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and I’m much further north than Liverpool. Watch your words please and have some bloody respect.

dlcy · 12/05/2026 17:12

I’m happy that ignorant southerners (I used to be one actually) aren’t clambering to come and live here. Keeps it nicer

HelenaWilson · 12/05/2026 17:12

'Filthy London'?

dlcy · 12/05/2026 17:13

Tbf London is filthy. No one can argue that

MyCottageGarden · 12/05/2026 17:16

Yes because it’s just SO unpleasant and dangerous up north…… 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️😆 @didntlikeanyofthesuggestions

Get a grip woman. It’s 11 miles away. Epidemiologist are all over this. You’re just milking this. Stop

TipsyLaird · 12/05/2026 17:30

Some people just love the drama.

Lins77 · 12/05/2026 17:30

OP - I don't want to feed your anxiety, but wherever you are in the country there will be people with nasty, contagious bugs (flu, norovirus, many others) much closer to you than 11 miles away. You have this out of proportion, and are fixating on this rare, unlikely but highly publicised scenario.

Nah. Pictures like that just reinforce the idea that 'the north' is all wasteland with no jobs, culture or diversity and there's parks in London so no-one needs to venture outside for wildnerness or nature.

HelenaWilson · 12/05/2026 17:45

there's parks in London so no-one needs to venture outside for wildnerness or nature.

Bet you haven't got pelicans roaming freely up there.

You might be surprised how much wildlife there is in the parks and elsewhere in London.

Try walking it! Won't seem so close then. And there might be a water crossing involved. And apparently we are all only a few feet away from a rat.

Puffins, falcons, seals, occasional walrus. It's all happening in the cold dark North. Gets even better as you go to Scotland.

Ah, but no pelicans, so they don't count. Nothing is as good as London, nothing.

If you think it might be, it's because you're uncultured and easily pleased.

I'm just grateful that the warring tribes up here had reached a truce so I survived to this age. The perfumed, genteel streets of London were something that we were told about as we huddled around our shared fire.
