AIBU to find my husband's constant undressing at home annoying?

My husband has asked me to post on here to guage opinions.
The minute he gets in the door he takes his top off, often- his trousers too and will just be wearing pants. He says it is more comfortable.

I'm starting to find it really annoying, once in a while if it's really hot it makes sense. But it is literally all summer and winter. It means he can't ever answer the door, just pop into the garden or grab something from the car. And to be honest, I just don't like it.

Apparently it is completely normal (his dad did it too) and he thinks I would be surprised because everyone does this in their own homes??

My OH does this he’s in his work gear all day feeling uncomfortable so he’s down to his pants as soon as he gets in. When I get home from work shower and slouchies on. If he didn’t like that I would still do it , it’s what makes me comfortable. That is how he feels comfortable. We have a dressing gown downstairs and upstairs for emergencies 😂. It’s our home so being comfortable in your own home is just a basic requirement I feel. 😁

Millymollymandy4 · 08/05/2026 17:37

To all the posters who are saying no problem it’s jus like shorts

would you be happy for OPs children’s friends coming round and seeing their friends dad in his pants that are just the same as shorts????

Waitingatlidl · 08/05/2026 17:37

Does he do it your kids have friends over?

I came for the lovely bit of squirrel and I was not disappointed

Squirrel?? Is that a typo?

Why do people so often write things on MN that I don't understand!

ForCosyLion · 08/05/2026 17:39

Imagine if EVERY family member walked around in their pants starting the moment they walked through the door. That would be dysfunctional.

I wouldn't have any patience for it. Adults wear clothes in the daytime, full stop.

But why walk round in his pants? Why not shorts and a T-shirt, if he must wear few clothes?

Were practically nudists in my house, that’ll probably change when if we have a child to a certain extent. But I think it’s his choice how he’s most comfortable and don’t think you should get a say in what he wears

Superscientist · 08/05/2026 17:42

In our first house we overlooked a house where the man walked around all day in the nude and the woman and their child were fully clothed. It was odd as you'd think that if the house was warm enough for one of you to be in the buff it would be too warm for the others to be layered up
Often the blinds would be half down and with the position of the windows it was only his penis and bottom on show.... Not sure if that was intentional or not

Watch Friday Night Dinner on Channel 4, then you will understand. It’s worth it

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/05/2026 17:42

Yabu

Some of us are single and dont get anywhere near a semi nude man!

MaggieBsBoat · 08/05/2026 17:42

My 2 older sons both stripped off to underwear when they’d finished playing or school for the day. Now my youngest son (11) has started doing it. He comes in from school and thirty seconds later he’s stripped off!
Our two daughters never did this. Nor did DH. No bloody idea where they get it from.

Why? What’s dysnfunctional about bodies?

Because MN doesn’t revolve around you?

Enjoy your dinner tonight @Mulledjuice, shalom!

PuppyMonkey · 08/05/2026 17:44

Bloody weirdo.

basoon · 08/05/2026 17:45

I walk in the door and start taking my clothes off. I do put what I call my sloppies on. But if I favored staying in my undies, among my nearest and dearest, would it really matter?

Surely not winter?!

harriethoyle · 08/05/2026 17:46

I find it really unattractive when DH is in his dressing gown after midday. It gives me the ick but I don’t know why! I feel the same when the in laws are lolling about in pjs and I’m dressed. It just feels lazy although I accept this is totally irrational. So I agree but also know IABU 🤣

Sounds very weird and a bit intentional

Not really irrational is it

we are taught to be up and dressed 😂

Even in winter

Bristolandlazy · 08/05/2026 17:50

Good for him. He's at home. That's the one place you can wear what you want.
