AIBU to think this Green Party response raises antisemitism concerns?

Reported today that Rachel Millward, the Green Party co-deputy leader, has shared a conspiracy theory about the Golders Green attack in which two Jewish men were stabbed.

It emerged the Muslim Greens, a group of party activists, chatted on a private WhatsApp group over the weekend about launching a campaign to highlight the alleged failure to report Ishmael Hussein, the third victim of the April 29 stabbings. There is no suggestion that this idea has the backing of Mr Hussein.

The private group chat, which included Mothin Ali, the Green Party’s other co-deputy leader, suggested the “racist double standard” in the Government’s handling of the attack also needed to be challenged.

The Golders Green stabbings are the latest in a spate of attacks on the British Jewish community. Last week, Essa Suleiman was charged with the attempted murder of Moshi Shine, 76, and 34-year-old Shloime Rand.

Media outlets reported that he was also charged with the attempted murder of Mr Hussein in Southwark, south London, earlier on the morning of April 29

Ms Millward shared a post from the NewsCord account that claimed Mr Hussein had been “erased from headlines to suit a weaponised, desperate narrative”.
The Greens’ deputy leader commented: “How can this be? Three attempted murders and only two reported?”

NewsCord is an AI-generated news aggregator and campaigning platform set up after the October 7 attacks to challenge the “Western media” and how it was “justifying and manufacturing consent for Israel’s war”.

You're saying every Jewish person you know agrees that those who think anti-zionism is antisemitic are actually being antisemitic for thinking that?

I am... quite impressed by the... shit I don't even know what to call it...

Yes. Assuming that Jewish people support a racist settler colonial state and the genocide needed to uphold it is antisemitic.

jewish people are not all genocidal maniacs! Why is that so difficult to understand?

So three people were stabbed. Two were Jewish and one was Muslim.

The Muslim victim is barely mentioned in the media leading people to see the attack as antisemitic when it probably isn’t.

The attacker appears to be totally unhinged and psychotic, and the events are obviously traumatic for the victims (yes, even the Muslim one), and their families).

If you are aware of all these facts, I don’t understand why you see criticism of the reporting, or the attack itself, as antisemitic.

So if the attack was not antisemetic, why did he travel on public transport, amongst lots of non Jewish people, and stab two Jewish people? If he wasn’t motivated by his hatred of Jews, why not attack any of these other other people…. Abd the Muslim man he stabbed was his flat mate. You forgot that bit in your rush to defend a racist. Well done. .

Moreover, the Muslim man he stabbed was trying to stop him going out to stab Jews. Poor guy, thankfully he didn't die trying to protect other people.

People on this thread dismissing the antisemitism inherent in this attack are disgusting racists. I'm sure they all spend plenty of time hating on Reform voters for being racist. Perhaps they should look in the mirror.

Yes. It’s not like he went out abd stabbed two random people. He deliberately sought out Jewish people. The people minimising that are abhorrent. They shout about Israel killing thousands of people, whilst happily ignoring the fact Iran is also killing thousands of people and Afghan women are virtual prisoners in their own homes.

A racist settler colonial state?!

Wow, this is so nonsensical it’s actually laughable. It’s hard to credit that people can be this thick, racist and eaten up with hatred, and be unashamed to parade their ignorance in public in this way.

Yet here we are.

Breathtaking.

A brief look at history would prevent you continuing to make quite such a fool of yourself.

Yes.
A state that forces people of one ethnic group from its homes to house another ethnic group from outside can accurately be described as a racist, settled colonial state.

See also different travel permissions.
See also different judicial treatment.
See also the fact that only one group can face the death penalty.

And that’s just in the West Bank, not the utter decimation of Gaza.

i will be generous and assume you doing know about this (it’s much worse than I described), but actual support of Israel is support of racism and settler colonialism.

How many more of these threads are there going to be?

Enough to be sure people don’t vote for them today. Call me a conspiracist but it’s all got a little silly now on here.

Skinnysaluki · 07/05/2026 06:44

Zack Polanski is Jewish.
He is not the party leader who has made hissing noises at Jewish classmates in his youth or told people that he believes Hitler was right.
Yet apparently he is the antisemite leading an antisemitic party, and Farage is just fine and dandy.
Talk about through the looking glass.

Twiglets1 · 07/05/2026 06:45

People complaining about the threads raising concerns about antisemitism in the Green Party - or threads criticising/praising certain politicians - should remember there is nothing to stop them starting their own threads to talk about the politicians/parties they want to highlight.

Would be more constructive than resorting to the usual conspiracy theories to discount everything they don’t agree with.

If their own words and actions haven't done that themselves, then there was never any hope for those who will still vote for them.

Good morals, critical thinking and not hating people based on categories isn't something that can be taught through online arguments. Given the Green's fan base is largely extremist men, their under the boot families, witless students, and a few well meaning luvvie twits, then nothing will deter them.

Exactly the same as Reform, though I must say they are much better at hiding their racism and bigotry than the Greens.

But you have created a post on AIBU, not on the Only Post If You Agree with me board!

Clearly some people think you are BU to call the only political party led by a Jewish person antisemitic, and are drawing attention to how criticism of Israel is seen as antisemitic, but actual mimicking has chamber noises by hissing at Jews (Farage) is glossed over.

Yes some people think IABU and I expected that.

I don’t personally think it’s relevant whether Polanski is Jewish or whatever. I’m an atheist and I judge people on what they do and say.

He has allowed too much antisemitism to spread in the Green Party under his watch - it never used to be associated with that. That’s a big reason why I distrust him. I also think he’s not a serious person and that makes him a poor choice of leader for the Green Party long term.

It's very hard to pick from your posts what to respond to- they are quite the buffet 😬 but I'd be interested to hear why you think support of Israel is support for racism?

Do you believe every single Israeli is a racist?

Wouldn't that be a bit of a negative sweeping generalization? Isn't a negative sweeping generalization what racism is?

Farage isn’t fine and dandy, although the high profile roles held by the likes of Suella Braverman and Zia Yusuf do mean you believe Reform is not in the slightest bit racist, doesn’t court racists and definitely has no problem with racist candidates. Your rules yea?

Nobody on this thread has suggested that 'Farage is just fine and dandy.' Far from it. Farage and Polanski are two sides of the same coin. Both extremist populists only out for themselves. Talk about through the looking glass indeed.

Did you also support apartheid in South Africa?

There is no apartheid in Israel. Every Israeli Arab has the same legal rights as the Jewish population, as well as others e.g Christians and Druze.
As of last month figures show that Israel is made up of 10.2 million people including 7.97 million Jews,(76% - 78%) 2.16 million Arabs (approx 21%).
Israeli Arabs sit in the Knesset (Parliament) hold high level positions in the Supreme Court as well as government ministries. There is absolutely no comparison to the apartheid of South Africa.
