Would you judge some who’s clothing is mostly primark or supermarket brands

It’s me by the way and that’s the case for my clothes

OP posts:
WoollyandSarah · Yesterday 19:48

How would I even know? The only time I ask about clothes is if I really like them. If I asked and you told me, I'd just be impressed that you'd found something nice in Primark or a supermarket.

Dollymylove · Yesterday 19:49

No. I buy most of my stuff off Vinted these days. Second hand is King 😊

andplaybasketball · Yesterday 19:49

I would notice, tbh. It wouldn’t bother me but I probably would assume it was an affordability issue.

mynameiscalypso · Yesterday 19:49

I also just went to the Tu website off the back of this and how refreshing it is to see normal looking bodies there (Zara, I’m looking at you…)

crazeekat · Yesterday 19:49

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Yesterday 19:38

No. The only clothes I have that aren't supermarket or Primark are from Vinted.

Snap!

itsme43 · Yesterday 19:49

For me it’s more about convenience. I have 3 young children….i don’t get to go out on shopping trips often. And I like to see the clothes before I buy them. Weekly shop…new pair of jeans. Win win! Sainsbury’s and Tescos have some lovely clothes.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · Yesterday 19:50

No I wouldn’t judge.
I do judge people who don’t wash their clothes (unless there is an obvious reason.) I can’t abide dirty people who slop around in scruffy tracksuits. They usually spit too and never use a tissue. I suppose that’s more about scruffy people in general though rather than buying cheaper brands.

2ndcarowner · Yesterday 19:51

No, I would judge you if they were dirty, had holes in, dint fit or were smelly, but I wouldn’t judge you for which shop you bought them from, I wouldn’t know unless you showed me the label.

CrescentMoonLanding · Yesterday 19:51

Not in the least.
I'd probably judge if you were head to toe in designer brands though 😂

PurpleNightingale · Yesterday 19:52

Hoe would they know unless you told them? I don't have a clue where my friends bought their clothes. And I buy supermarket and primark too so it would be quite hypocritical of me 😂

zxzx6576 · Yesterday 19:52

I’m a high earner and I’ve bought a bunch of clothes from F&F over the last year, mostly because I’m lazy and don’t go shopping very often but also because I really liked them!

NannyOf8Girls · Yesterday 19:53

Supermarket clothing is fab!

zxzx6576 · Yesterday 19:54

Shopping7777 · Yesterday 19:44

I guess you can tell they are cheap

I really think it depends on what is bought and how it’s worn. Yes some clothes and outfits can look cheap depending on what’s picked or how it’s put together. But my SIL seems to buy most of her clothes from Primark, I’m always asking her where something is from and am continually surprised by the answer, but she picks well and styles it well!

MyBraveFace · Yesterday 19:55

I doubt I would know unless I checked the labels or I owned the same garment myself.

99% of my clothes come from charity shops. I do have some high end label bargains but I'll buy anything if I like it, regardless of label.

ReignOfError · Yesterday 19:55

Wouldn’t notice, and wouldn’t care if I did know somehow.

KidsAndDogsGalore · Yesterday 19:55

I assume they are clean and not smelly. So nope, I don't wear branded clothes either.

sallymonella · Yesterday 19:57

No, I rarely notice what people are wearing because I don't really care tbh.

AliasGrape · Yesterday 19:57

I love a lot of Tu stuff and it’s no different in quality to anything else on the high street these days.

I’ve had some shit from Primark but some lovely things too.

I keep my clothes a while and also buy a lot from Vinted - Tu stuff tends to last well. George at Asda served me well for maternity stuff when I was pregnant too, I don’t tend to shop in F&F for me but I’ve had some nice bits for DD from there.

emmetgirl · Yesterday 19:58

I don’t think I’d even notice.

missmollygreen · Yesterday 19:58

Whosthetabbynow · Yesterday 19:35

Depends. If you were on a high wage and couldn’t be bothered to spend more, yes. If you couldn’t afford to buy more expensive clothes, no.

Why should you spend more, just because you make more money?

Runningismyhappyplace50 · Yesterday 19:59

Not sure I would notice.

desperatemum1234 · Yesterday 19:59

Anyone who judges on labels is a snob and to be thoroughly disregarded

Zov · Yesterday 19:59

How is anyone gonna know? Confused

Purpleturtle45 · Yesterday 20:00

A lot/most of my clothes are supermarket clothes and I always get lots of compliments on the. I would rather spend my money on experiences and holidays than expensive clothes and I don't give 2 hoots what anyone thinks. Anyone who judges clothing based on brand isn't anyone I would care about!

Is this an ethical question?

Fast fashion is unsustainable and consumers mindlessly supporting it need to give their heads a wobble.

However, this isn't exactly the same as buying clothes at a supermarket, if you cherish them, are selective of material choice and use them for very many years. But this would be atypical I suppose.

Community Clothing and charity shops only for me.

Charity shops are too expensive these days. Never heard of a community clothing shop.
