Would you judge some who’s clothing is mostly primark or supermarket brands

It’s me by the way and that’s the case for my clothes

OP posts:
greenbuckets · Yesterday 20:25

Wouldn't notice or care. If you kept drawing my attention to it that would get on my nerves a bit

Bigcat25 · Yesterday 20:25

I wouldn't judge you. What clothes someone wears isn't super important.

BunnyLake · Yesterday 20:25

I wouldn’t notice or care. I wear my clothes till they fall apart anyway.

LBFseBrom · Yesterday 20:25

No, how would I know?

Auburngal · Yesterday 20:26

Most of my clothes came from my previous employer, a supermarket. With promos and staff discount - great.

Then the rest come from another supermarket chain, Matalan. Then a few bits from another supermarket chain and Shein.

I choose clothes and shoes for comfort.

I spend more on footwear - as I'm Skechers obsessed. I cannot do heavy shoes anymore.

Plus charity shops for the other bits.

Yoheresthestory · Yesterday 20:29

Do you care because you can’t afford more and want to give outwardly a specific image? I think lots of clothes don’t exactly look high end. And that’s what most people are wearing. If you want to look high fashion, wealthy, quality look and image, then supermarket and fast fashion clothes rarely get that look right. Everyone above would like to pretend otherwise but the reality is that most of us are wearing plenty of supermarket clothes and most of us don’t look elegant and ‘classic’. And are fine with it. But the question is, what image are you trying to be judged as? (Because everyone judges in one way or another what they see regardless of people on this thread say)

Thedogscollar · Yesterday 20:29

No.
I judge people on their behaviour not what they're wearing.
You can buy some lovely clothes in Primark and supermarkets.

I guess you can tell they are cheap

Not really. I honestly don't think the quality is any lower than the majority of high street brands. Probably better than some.

I think if someone went on about how little they spent on clothes I would judge them, but unless you happen to be wearing something I had specifically looked and so recognised, I don't think it would occur to me to even think where you bought your clothes.

This is not a comment on you, @Shopping7777, but I think we all imagine other people spend a lot more time thinking about us, how we look and what we wear, than they actually do. Most people have too much going on in their own lives for it to even think about what we are wearing unless it stands out, for a good or bad reason.

Swissmeringue · Yesterday 20:31

I wouldn't even notice, I have no idea where my friends buy their clothes.

I get a lot of clothes from Sainsbury's because it's where I do our shopping so I pick things up as and when I need them. If anyone wants to judge me then that's really not my problem and it's genuinely never occurred to me that anyone would or does.

Raven08 · Yesterday 20:32

You wouldn't believe how many compliments I have had about a pair of wide leg trousers I bought last year from primark!
When my dc were small we had very little money and all our clothes were from tesco or sainsburys - back then they were well made and inexpensive (don't know about now).

What are they doing, yanking at your labels to see what brand they are.

i have an abiding memory of someone at work say "ooo i like your cardi, where did you get that from?' and before I knew what was happening they grabbed at the scruff of my neck to see the label. I was incandescent

BobbysDazzler · Yesterday 20:33

I couldn't care less. We all choose to wear what we like, if Primark or Armani that is upto you. However I do think that designer clothes are generally a total rip off in most cases and would be likely to judge someone on that over cheaper brands.

As long as their clothes are clean though I don't really care 😊

whattheysay · Yesterday 20:35

I have some very nice pieces from primark and supermarkets. Who on earth would even know where it’s from and people who would care are not worth the time of day.

TheWorthyNewt · Yesterday 20:35

Nobody's business where you buy your clothes from

RedRiverShore6 · Yesterday 20:36

I wouldn’t know where they were from

Mayandwest · Yesterday 20:37

No, not at all. But a friend of mine pointed this out recently about someone else, so maybe other people would.

Good point.

Although, when I hear anyone say 'PRIMARNI,' I really want to drop kick them into the middle of the next century!😠 I hate that bloody word! 😆

Dillydollydingdong · Yesterday 20:38

How do you tell? Grab them and look at the label?

24caratgoldlabubu · Yesterday 20:38

OP - Not at all!! There are some clothes in my wardrobe from Sainsbury's and Tesco that I've had for over 10 years, and still get complimented on.

If it's cost you're worried about and want to branch out a bit, try Vinted! 🫶🏻

PonyPatter44 · Yesterday 20:39

Oh for goodness sake. Noone would know unless you cut all the labels out and sewed them on the outside. Yes some items are unique to supermarket brands, but so what?

I get some of my clothes from Vinted, and some from Sainsbury's. Noone has ever said they know or care. Other people really don't care as much as you fear they do!

SurleyTurnip · Yesterday 20:39

No

ButterYellowHair · Yesterday 20:40

I would not notice that was the case… I buy most of my stuff from Vinted. So lots of Cos, Nobody’s Child, Ro&Zo, Russell & Bromley . But I never spend more than £20 an item (£40 for shoes). Cheaper than new at the supermarket - Nobody else knows that though!

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · Yesterday 20:41

Whosthetabbynow · Yesterday 19:35

Depends. If you were on a high wage and couldn’t be bothered to spend more, yes. If you couldn’t afford to buy more expensive clothes, no.

Why would it matter. High wage or not? I wouldn’t spend loads on clothes even if I had millions. I might shop a bit more ethically. But you ca. do that by buying second hand (which I often do).

ay30916 · Yesterday 20:41

No. They are my go to shops. Sainsburys jeans are the best I’ve found by a mile.

MississippiCroc · Yesterday 20:41

Tesco often have some fabulous clothes. I love their co-ords.

I think it depends what you’re wearing and how well you’re put together than where it comes from?
