To think south of France beach clubs have ruined DH

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:42

Now he’s acting like a spoilt baby
Saying he won’t go to a normal beach and sit on a towel on the sand and he will only go somewhere he has a sunbed, a proper one

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

any ideas ? don’t want to go to south of France again

Not just beds on a beach for a few euros or whatever but fancy ones, some can be quite posey (imo) depending where it is, full of comforts like toilets, music, food, drinks, service etc. You pay a fee. The higher end ones are v pricey. Which is why Op doesn’t want to as it increases the holiday for a family quite a bit: for the type of ones her husband likes.

Edited

Yes I believe the youngsters in the hip resorts (Marbella, Ibiza) hire giant beds for the day x

eurochick · 18/04/2026 16:12

I’m not sure everyone posting on this thread knows what the OP means. They really do spoil a normal beach visit for you - you never want to go back to a towel on the sand, walking miles to get your own drinks or go to the loo, etc. My in-laws introduced us to the beach clubs near their holiday home and they really are the only way to do the beach for me now.

Outside of France you probably want a resort offering a private beach. That will probably offer something similar.

Squirrelchops1 · 18/04/2026 16:12

Goa?
Beach beds were super comfy, service to your bed, fantastic food. And of course very cheap. Beds free. Will that spoil him enough?

lazymaw · 18/04/2026 16:13

santorini, menorca all have beaches with daily hire of sun loungers for like £20 euros, maybe £30 now as it was a while ago i was last there.

Yes I think you are right

Agree with PP. Look for an AI resort with its own beach.

Happyhappyday · 18/04/2026 16:30

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 15:00

I agree but at 100/200 euro
person per day

that adds up for family on holiday

oh plus food and drinks etc

that cost above is just the beds alone

I am pretty beach clubs in Sicily/Puglia are more like 20EUR!!

GinandGingerBeer · 18/04/2026 16:31

Kalkan as a few others have said- there are several lovely ones & some you get to in a small boat and they’re beautiful.
Mainland Spain & Majorca you’ll find lots of resorts with beach clubs (not just loungers - I mean proper beach clubs/lounger service, nice restaurant and loos) although the costa del Sol does have lots of beaches with thick padded comfortable loungers available for about £8 a day and they’ll bring you drinks n food but not a beach clubs so you’re in with the riff raff I’m afraid!
can’t remember any names of the beach clubs though!

Happyhappyday · 18/04/2026 16:37

@TeddyBearCottage confirming that beach clubs in Sicily and Puglia are more like 20EUR a day. I don’t know if your husband is after something wildly fancy but I have always found the food to be decent and your drink does come in a real glass! Croatia has similar costs too (try Hvar).

Otherwise… Maui. Hotels will set up umbrellas for you etc and you can order drinks and food from your lounge chair but it was more like $600-$800/night.

outerspacepotato · 18/04/2026 16:40

He buys his own lounger and carries it around with him.

I have a little foldable short beach chair I've carried on the subway and rail. It's really comfy and lightweight.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 18/04/2026 16:41

Don’t most beaches across the entire world have some variation of hireable sunbeds? That don’t cost €800 per day?? That would be an insane price that most people just wouldn’t pay.

The most expensive sunbed I ever hired was about £60 per day in Dubai. But we are ginger so we needed the umbrella for shade more than anything. But even that’s a world away from €800 per day! I am baffled by this post.

Bloody men children- I’m sick of reading about them and women running around after them quite honestly !

I genuinely don't understand this and many other posts. The husband has given an opinion of what sort of holiday he wants and the o.p is researching it because thats how they have split the labour today.

Manxexile · 18/04/2026 17:05

cantthinkofagoodusername1 · 18/04/2026 14:59

Yet another tiresome spoilt man child, and a fully grown woman running around after him. Why do you pander to him? I simply do not tolerate this nonsense. If my husband had such specific demands, he can sort it out himself.

Perhaps the OP thinks her DH will do a better job of fixing the garage roof than she would? (Or better than you would?).

Or perhaps she'd simply prefer to sort out the holiday rather than fixing the garage roof?

Seems perfectly reasonable to me...

Chewbecca · 18/04/2026 17:09

I think your DH sounds very wise, it's a lovely way to spend the day.
Most Italian beaches have the set up he likes. Forte dei Marmi for example. They're expensive but gorgeous.
(Fly to Pisa)

CotswoldsCamilla · 18/04/2026 17:12

Ikos or Sani both nice resorts with comfortable sunbeds, Cocktails in proper glasses, using premium ingredients.
Usually a private beach - and the sun loungers on the beach are as nice as those around pool. And mainly Greece or Spain, not whiff of Côte d’Azur.

Incidentally, Instagram keeps show me beaches in Albania that look beyond stunning. Ksamil. Reckon if I could ever convince my husband to look at Albania, it might be my next holiday.

harriethoyle · 18/04/2026 17:16

Go to Ikos. All their hotels have private beaches with cabanas and lounger service

AnneShirleyBlythe · 18/04/2026 17:18

All the Spanish beaches, inc Balearic & Canaries, I’ve ever been to have sun beds & parasols for rent. Not sure what you mean by beach club? Like they have in Ibiza with djs, bar, pool etc?

itchyscratchyburny · 18/04/2026 17:19

Try IKOS resorts

HoppityBun · 18/04/2026 17:21

Torquay

I am considering Albania as I have an Albanian colleague. She showed me pics of some beautiful beaches her family go
to when they visit. Reasonable prices too.

geoger · 18/04/2026 17:29

Most beaches in Greece and the islands have this set up. Prices vary tho. We were in Halkidiki last year, sunbeds free as long as you bought a drink - padded beds, with a bar and clean toulets

Barney16 · 18/04/2026 17:32

Get your husband down off the roof and tell him to ask Chat GPT.

Every so often I see a thread and think “this is most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read on this site” and then something like this pops up and takes the crown.

Me too. Then you see it’s a three word username…. They keep popping up constantly

PippaToryFripp · 18/04/2026 17:32

Malta a lot of the hotels have them

Cailin66 · 18/04/2026 17:34

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:54

He says he like it with a proper sunbed ideally with padding

and he likes getting his drink in a proper glass with ice and also being able to go to nice toilets without queueing

and having food brought over and music

Can you please divorce him and send him over to me. We’re a perfect fit.
