To think south of France beach clubs have ruined DH

Now he’s acting like a spoilt baby
Saying he won’t go to a normal beach and sit on a towel on the sand and he will only go somewhere he has a sunbed, a proper one

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

any ideas ? don’t want to go to south of France again

I know of a beautiful hotel in Turkey with its own beach club. It’s small (only 30 rooms), each has direct access to the grounds, they play brilliant music quietly throughout the day and there’s no evening ‘animation’ - heaven! But I keep it a secret!

Yet another tiresome spoilt man child, and a fully grown woman running around after him. Why do you pander to him? I simply do not tolerate this nonsense. If my husband had such specific demands, he can sort it out himself.

I agree he’s a spoilt baby but he’s up in the garage roof atm
while I’m looking into this
trust me I don’t pander to his every whim
he would be insufferable if I did
as he’s got a gigantic ego

hes requested I look not Corsica first

Just about any beach in Italy which is adjacent to a beach resort town will have beach clubs like this with a bar, changing rooms, boardwalk, sunbeds and umbrellas.

WallaceinAnderland · 18/04/2026 15:02

I don't think I've been to any resort that doesn't have beach loungers and shade for hire. They are pretty normal everywhere in europe.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/04/2026 15:03

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:58

He only likes the sea

he doesn't like pools
doesn't like the chemicals and germs

Ok so book a hotel that has beach access and sunloungers available for guests.

Itsmetheflamingo · 18/04/2026 15:03

A beach club will be €100 + per day.

wouldn’t it be easier to look for a hotel with a private beach?

keepswimming38 · 18/04/2026 15:03

Bloody men children- I’m sick of reading about them and women running around after them quite honestly !

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 15:04

I just don’t wanna pay 800 euros a day on sunbeds before I even start
as it’s too wasteful

Is this some sort of weird flex?

You can't work out how to parent him about this without coming on a forum?

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

Where? Where are you wanting to be? I could name you a dozen, but they would need different flights .

Parent her husband?

countdowntonap · 18/04/2026 15:07

I agree with your husband - I’m only beach holidaying where there a lovely beach clubs with huge fluffy towels provided. This summer we’ve got some great ones lined up on the Athenian Riviera. There are some wonderful beach clubs in the Cyclades, and I particularly enjoyed Mahres in Mallorca.

Sapphireandsteel2 · 18/04/2026 15:12

Parga Beach Resort in Parga, mainland Greece, is on the beach with its own private sun loungers, plus pools too. We've been twice and I don't usually like luxury hotels but this is different as it's on the beach with views, hilly walk or water taxi into small pretty town with more restaurants.

nowahousewife · 18/04/2026 15:13

Where are you going in the south of France to pay that much? I live in on the coast in that region and our local beach clubs start at €30/bed/day. Food, drinks etc on top. The higher end ones in Cannes can charge up to €200/day for their premium located beds.

Hop over the border into Italy and the prices around Bordighera/Sanremo drop significantly (and the coffee is much better!)

Rachelshair · 18/04/2026 15:14

Italy is pretty much all beach clubs/ lidos on the coast, yes it makes the holiday expensive even if you go for the lower price range places. It is nice to have a comfy lounger and decent toilets.

See your point there. That's so expensive. Had no idea. You can get lovely private cabanas at the better Turkish all inclusives for an extra 100-130 euros a day for the whole family with all inclusive food and drinks. Would you consider something like this? Also lots of comfy loungers if you didn't want to add the cabana.

childoftkty · 18/04/2026 15:15

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:54

He says he like it with a proper sunbed ideally with padding

and he likes getting his drink in a proper glass with ice and also being able to go to nice toilets without queueing

and having food brought over and music

You know what. I totally agree with him. Defintely my preference

ThatWaryLimePeer · 18/04/2026 15:16

Why’s it being spoilt, my days of laying on a towel are over? He can either pay top whack or do his own research. I’m sure AI would give you an answer.

Lifejustmovessofast · 18/04/2026 15:17

Golden triangle in The Algarve, you can have lovely sunbeds right by the sea and waiter service etc. Still expensive to me, but nowhere near what you’re paying. I wouldn’t go for a beach club though as find them tacky, but they have lovely beaches with beds and shades by a nice restaurant with toilets obviously that will deliver you coffee, breakfast, lunch, cocktails etc

Puppalicious · 18/04/2026 15:17

Yes, why not a hotel with beach access? Why is this such a big issue? It’s a pain in the ass just lying your towel on the sand!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/04/2026 15:17

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/04/2026 14:46

Also many beaches on the med have someone who’ll rent loungers.

This. We’ve always just rented them by the day in Cyprus and Majorca. And on the odd U.K. beach!

Invisablepanic · 18/04/2026 15:18

I don't think it's an unreasonable request tbh. Maybe post on the holiday forum for ideas or get chat to work you up and itinerary. I think once you've been 'spoilt' with certain things on holiday as an adult it's hard to go back.

I've got certain things I like in holiday as does DH, whoever is researching just takes it into account. Would he be happier with a really good AI hotel with beach access and service?

Doggymummar · 18/04/2026 15:19

I stayed in a £25 a night b and b in Rhodes and they had them so I don't think it a hard task really

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 15:22

It's not really just the sunbed, it's being able to have a cocktail or g and t in a proper glass with ice and a slice, and nice toilets that you don't queue for that a big part of it for him
So it's more beach club than just renting a sunbed
But I don't want to waste too much

I'm sure I'll find something not as expensive as last time

Thanks for link, but don't want to go back to the south of france this summer

Kalkan, Turkey has 10+ beach clubs - some fancier then others. We change it up and go to a different one most days.
