To think south of France beach clubs have ruined DH

Now he’s acting like a spoilt baby
Saying he won’t go to a normal beach and sit on a towel on the sand and he will only go somewhere he has a sunbed, a proper one

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

any ideas ? don’t want to go to south of France again

I don't blame him. I won't go to a public beach and sit on a towel on the sand either. UK beaches are full of annoying anti-social oiks playing shit music out of their phones and foreign beaches are full of hawkers constantly trying to sell you stuff. And I hate sand.

I'd rather scrape by eyes out with a spoon.

Where on earth have you been going? I haven't come across a beach in the UK "full" of antisocial behaviour". I've been to beaches where there are some people working and selling things but a polite "no thank you" takes mere seconds and, again, I haven't been to a beach "full" of people working either.

So just to recap: he is on the garage roof

@TeddyBearCottage literally anywhere in Europe that has a load of tourists, has what you are asking for.

He only likes the sea

he doesn't like pools
doesn't like the chemicals and germs

Is he aware that the sea isn’t exactly germ free, ie effluent, detritus from ships, decomposing fish etc.?

Where in Greece? Curious to know where a drink gets you a bed for free for 8 euro.

That does look nice, but he might be a bit picky over the toilets

Is it the wooden doors or the fact that they're on the beach?

Iris2020 · 18/04/2026 15:54

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:54

He says he like it with a proper sunbed ideally with padding

and he likes getting his drink in a proper glass with ice and also being able to go to nice toilets without queueing

and having food brought over and music

OK that's my idea of hell (music at the beach). It totally defeats the purpose of a beach.

Iloveacurry · 18/04/2026 15:54

Kalkan in Turkey, lots of beach clubs.

AndSoFinally · 18/04/2026 15:56

Pretty much any all inclusive hotel with beach access will have a beach club, and you get all the AI perks while using it (food, ice cream, drinks, etc)

Whosthetabbynow · 18/04/2026 15:57

Is that what ‘beach club’ means? Padded sunbeds on the beach? I thought that was a normal holiday 🤷‍♀️

Yes, I think she means a resort, maybe AI, perhaps.

Not for what the OP is talking about.

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 16:00

LochKatrine · 18/04/2026 15:45

Ok. Fair enough, but he needs to understand that chemicals are everywhere and are largely unavoidable.

Don't you think it's nicer to swim in the sea ?

Can’t imagine wanting to go somewhere not like that either tbh. Why is this such a big thing to you? It’s supposed to be a holiday.

I do indeed! However, I don't have concerns about chemicals or germs, by and large.

Ah ok. Yes most resorts have sun beds put out on the beach x

Contrarymary30 · 18/04/2026 16:03

I wouldn't sit on a towel on the beach . It's just too uncomfortable. It was OK when I was a child . Most beaches hire out sun beds .

Yes, they seem to, for the specific use of their clientele.

Sounds like a nightmare, not perks.

I thought that's what the sea was for? And surely you don't mean a poo? If a beach day is on the cards and you think there's any possibility at all that you might need to drop the kids off at the pool, you either force it out before leaving or plan the beach for a different day.

I mean, nobody goes to the beach knowing there's a chance something's cooking up. Do they?

If you have to eat the same meal at the same place the entire holiday, yes to me it is.

That’s it. The most luxuriously amazing beds were those at Ocean 2 Barbados. Padded bliss x

Not just beds on a beach for a few euros or whatever but fancy ones, some can be quite posey (imo) depending where it is, full of comforts like toilets, music, food, drinks, service etc. You pay a fee. The higher end ones are v pricey. Which is why Op doesn’t want to as it increases the holiday for a family quite a bit: for the type of ones her husband likes.
