I work with a work colleague on a one to one basis however I think she’s lied to me about having 2 dogs (she does have 1) as well as to various other work colleagues.

OP posts:

There are enough dog threads on here OP. Not sure MN has got capacity for ones on imaginary ones.

hereismydog · 17/04/2026 22:42

I think OP is just leading us on…

KnitWitsAnonymous · 17/04/2026 22:42

I think OP has disappeared ~ is she in the doghouse?

XMissPlacedX · 17/04/2026 22:42

@EdithBond whenever we would ask about her kid she would say she doesn’t like to share details about her to anyone, we always thought it was a bit strange but didn’t think for one second it didn’t exist.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 17/04/2026 22:44

Absolutely howling at this thread.

I once worked with a girl who pretended to have a kid so she could take time off work due to her fake child being ill and other child related reasons. She even had a car seat in her car. Another woman joined the company who knew her and it all came out. Was bloody awkward for her and she left.

Omg. Why didn’t I think of this before? Genius!

Butterme · 17/04/2026 22:45

I think we might work in the same place OP.

I can’t imagine there are two separate work places that have such massive barefaced liars like her.

Who does she think she is!

Would freak me out once I knew 😱

JackJarvisEsq · 17/04/2026 22:47

thestudio · 17/04/2026 22:49

Although a latecomer, I too can immediately see that this is an open and shut case.

I was actually accused of lying about having a kid - I have no idea why but it was the talk of the workplace for ages without me realising.

My argument was why would anyone lie about having a child when they don’t have one - but obviously it’s more common than I realised!

Eh??!

How do you know?

Could one live with her mum or something?

She hasnt got a mum, she completely made that up

The other dog lives with her cousin Anton.

YourShyLion · 17/04/2026 22:53

And?

I know for a fact there’s no cousin called Anton

DDog1 and DDog2?

Neveranynamesleft · 17/04/2026 22:58

She's definitely leading you on. Don't just roll over and take this lying down.

Agreed It’s plain as day!

The old 'two dog' con. A classic of the genre.

Definately a case for Sherlock Bones...

DDog1 and DDog2?

Did make me wonder if there is one dog but multiple names.

Our cats have their names and a whole load of unique to them pet names that all family know.

Also next door has no dog - but there is always a lovely dog there or being picked up for a walk by one of the sons - it's a relatives dog and goes home - very late and comes very early apparently never seen it. I've no idea why as it's a privately owned house but family do explain a lot to everyone the situation that it's not their dog but a relatives though it's there often at weekends as well - but it doesn't live there just spends a lot of time there. Maybe you found the actual owner of said dog?

BreadInCaptivity · 17/04/2026 23:11

Maybe one is a hush puppy?

Yowsers · 17/04/2026 23:11

I heard ones a tiger and the others a wolf.

Follow her home. Take binoculars. That's sure to go well, and answer your question.

That won't work, she knows the OP, she may recognize her! She should hire a PI!
