Just out of curiosity. I have friends who didn’t celebrate at all, but I also have some friends who are going on special holidays etc.

Had a party in a pub on the Saturday, went to a gig on the Sunday. My actual birthday was the Monday and I can’t remember what I did.

colloqneuro · 17/04/2026 21:31

Cried

Auroraloves · 17/04/2026 21:31

I was heavily pregnant so went for a meal with family and husband. It was lovely

DoAWheelie · 17/04/2026 21:32

It was mid lockdown so my parents came and stood at my living room window to wave and bring me presents.

Waitingfordoggo · 17/04/2026 21:32

I had a small get together with about 10 friends. We had curry and drinks at home. I was pregnant so no drinks for me and I went to bed at about 10pm.

holachicatita · 17/04/2026 21:33

Got engaged in Dublin!

WonderfulSmith · 17/04/2026 21:34

I don’t remember. I can’t honestly say. I think I had friends over but I couldn’t say for sure.

DieSchottin93 · 17/04/2026 21:35

My actual birthday was spent traveling back to the UK from Germany with a long layover in Schiphol. The day before though I'd seen my favourite band (a German one) in Munich so it was a bit of a bucket list experience. And on the second flight home I did get give a bottle of cava and a card from the crew 😁

NorthFacingGardener · 17/04/2026 21:35

Had a family bbq.. it was between lockdowns and I was pregnant.

I didn’t find turning 30 a big deal personally.. possibly because I’m a few months younger than all my friends and a few years younger than DH.

BeaLola · 17/04/2026 21:37

It was a very long time ago (!)

I and 5 friends spent afternoon at spa area local hotel in pool/sauna/steam room chatting and relaxing, drinks back at my house and then a lovely dinner with drinks at a local Italian restaurant - was relaxed and lovely

I love all the books written by the Brontë sisters. Went to Haworth for a few days and did lots of gorgeous walks on the moors. It was dreamy. Also got my nose pierced.

PoundShopPabloEscobar · 17/04/2026 21:39

Had a 48 hour house party 🥳

Ginflinger · 17/04/2026 21:39

In hospital on a drip. But in Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon, so swings / roundabouts

I organised a netball tournament and even my non netball friends came along and gave its go. Then to the pub! It was pre kids and it was a lot of very silly fun. It was along time ago now but I still have the T-shirt.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 17/04/2026 21:41

A cocktail bar - area for cocktails upstairs for just ny friends then dancefloor downstairs drank lots! This was almost ten years ago currently planning my 40th it’s flown by!

namechange62 · 17/04/2026 21:43

Just pregnant with #2. So puking and a very early night!

Alliolly · 17/04/2026 21:45

Nothing... I can't even remember it. My 30th was during the first COVID lockdown

WearyAuldWumman · 17/04/2026 21:46

Nothing. Went to work.

Mind you, that was more than 35 years ago.

LadyInRainbow · 17/04/2026 21:46

Nothing friends tried to plan something but DD was 14 months old and had no one to babysit until she was 5, some of those friends would have had her but would have wanted them to come out. Makes me a bit sad they lost interest when I couldn’t go out and didn’t at least suggest coming over for a take away and wine or something. 40th also did nothing, two friends suggested a night out but I’d have had to do all the organising and a month after my birthday I gave up trying to find a day or night that fitted in both their busy schedules.

UnexpectedCurveBall · 17/04/2026 21:49

I had a party at a local golf club as I’d not done much for my 18th or 21st (both during exam season). I was pregnant with my second though so didn’t drink but had a lot of fun.

I hear you. I’m dreading the thought of being 30, it feels so official to me…

I've enjoyed my 30s so much more than my 20s. I like myself more, I give less fucks, relationships feel more genuine and meaningful and I've have some amazing experiences. Come on in, the water's fine.

Notreallyawaitress · 17/04/2026 20:56

Had to work, cried quite a lot I think - only ‘big’ birthday that I was upset about.

I was weirdly upset at 30 too. 40 didn’t bother me in the slightest!

I’m so pleased to hear that.

I hit a nightclub in London with some friends. It was before the kids arrived.

PeopleLikeColdplayYouCantTrustPeopleJez · 17/04/2026 21:53

Had an epiphany and started making plans to leave my (abusive) ex. Upsetting and scary at the time but in hindsight the best “big” birthday I’ve had so far.
