Just out of curiosity. I have friends who didn’t celebrate at all, but I also have some friends who are going on special holidays etc.

I was quite pregnant with my first, we went to the Welsh coast and stayed in a converted railway carriage over looking the see. We went to a lovely restaurant and I ate a beautiful rare steak. We sat in front of the sea and looked at the stars. We went for walks and to a red kite sanctuary (we have more red kites at home but it was nice to see them in a really wild place).

There would have been a family meal somewhere I imagine; but I don’t remember.

Went to New York for a mini break, Concorde there and back, was amazing but a long time ago now !!! Next big one will be my 60th !

Happycherry39 · 19/04/2026 00:14

30th had a meal with all my friends
40th stayed a night at the ned and shopping in London

Iris2020 · 19/04/2026 00:19

Nothing that I recall.
Possibly a meal with a friend.

IAmBeaIDrinkTea · 19/04/2026 00:21

I was pregnant, so not much drinking or madness going on 😁
Think I had one glass of sangria that lasted all night as we went out for a Mexican meal with friends.

ToddlerIs2 · 19/04/2026 00:24

I was child free and only been with now DH a few months, none of my school friendship group were married or had babies either so we did a long weekend somewhere close to home and a week away somewhere sunny over the period of us all turning 30.

For my 40th I had 3 kids so I caught a coach and went to Europe for the weekend alone 😂

FuriousInventions · 19/04/2026 06:33

Got pregnant 🫣🤣

Hallowbeflashed · 19/04/2026 07:23

We were on holiday for my actual birthday but met friends after for a drink, pottery painting and dinner.

madisoncat · 19/04/2026 10:50

Gave birth. DD2 was two weeks early so whatever I had planned went out of the window. She is and has alway been in a hurry :-)

Zerosleep · 19/04/2026 11:21

What people decide to do or not on their 30th is none of your business. I don’t like celebrating my birthday, I have a good reason but it’s none of anyone else’s business.

OldMaaa · 19/04/2026 12:57

I did a tandem skydive.

wardobe123 · 19/04/2026 12:57

Got dumped

examadmin · 19/04/2026 14:15

Had my first and only baby, by 8.30am.
He was born quickly and spontaneously 4 weeks early, which altered my birthday celebrations that year and for years to come...

Just out of curiosity. I have friends who didn’t celebrate at all, but I also have some friends who are going on special holidays etc.

Went to Center Parcs with my family - parents, siblings & nephews etc. And a girls weekend in Athens to celebrate a few of our 30ths

I hear you. I’m dreading the thought of being 30, it feels so official to me…

Please don’t! Turning 30 actually felt great in the end - much better than my 20s. 40s are even better.

Letsgetthiswrongagain · 19/04/2026 14:51

Nothing, as my sister in law was in intensive care and my husband was a bit of a mess that week.

40th it was also my moms 60th so we did a weekend away in Slovenia.
50th I’d been made redundant so just wanted to go to see Harry Potter at the theatre, mooch round a bookshop and then dinner afterwards.

GrannyGoggles · 19/04/2026 14:56

I had mumps, caught from my children

SockQueen · 19/04/2026 14:57

This was pre-kids for us. On my actual birthday DH took me to the Waterside Inn. A couple of weeks later we went on a celebratory long weekend to Paris with some more Michelin stars included. It was pretty nice!

Createausername1970 · 19/04/2026 14:59

I had been saving a little bit for a while, and for my 30th birthday I was given some cash and M&S vouchers.

On my 30th birthday I dropped off most of my old clothes to a charity shop and spent the day shopping for a smaller amount of new mix-match stuff.

I was in the throes of a divorce, living in a rented room, and I decided my 30th was the time to kick-start a new me, out with the old, in with the new - starting with clothes.

I met my now DH about 6 weeks later.
