What am I supposed to do about the gap between my jeans and sweater?

Fashion currently seems to have gone in the direction of relatively short jumpers and lower rise jeans. This leaves me with a gap of at least a couple of inches between the two. I’ve always carried weight on my stomach, and leaving that gap bare with my muffin top hanging out is not something anyone needs to see. But if I wear a longline T-shirt underneath (the t shirt is old, from when longline was still in fashion), it looks a bit ridiculous, because there are about three inches of fabric in a different colour to the t-shirt and jeans, just sort of randomly sitting in the middle of my outfit.

Is anyone else having this problem? What am I supposed to do?

It's really strange that you think high-waisted jeans are not in fashion - they are very much the go-to style at present. I used not to like anything high on my waist, much preferring low-waisted, but I've now got used to them.

You mention not having time but a quick search online on a few retail websites will find a selection.

All the younger folk are wearing the very wide, very high waisted jeans and trousers. That's predominantly what I see. Not skinnies, rarely straight leg, certainly not low rise.

My current jeans are mid rise, because French Connection stopped selling the high rise skinny jeans I used to buy from them. I think it’s that that’s caused the problem. My jumpers are a few years old and were fine so long as the jeans were high rise, but not with mid rise.

It’s all very well saying ‘wear high rise jeans’, but what do you do if shops stop selling them?

If you can't find what you want in the shops, you carry on wearing whatever you have in the wardrobe. There is no law requiring you to buy new clothes every season.
