Ditzy women

Wellwhatnowbellaboo · 08/04/2026 15:25

... Drive me bloody bonkers. Just that really . I'm probably going to be flamed but seriously - I notice them more and more and maybe its my mindset ( driving, parking, meandering taking ages to decide in front of a supermarket fridge, forgetting appointments we've made, at work not knowing whst meetings are about etc.)

Anyone share my frustration!

It could just be your impatience and sexism. Is it only women who are "in your way"?

BillieWiper · 08/04/2026 15:30

Are you a man or a misogynist or both?

tichbrew · 08/04/2026 15:31

Why just "ditzy women", what about all the men who do all of those things?

Lifelover16 · 08/04/2026 15:32

I disagree - most women I know are juggling work, family, appointments for kids, food shopping cooking, remembering everyone’s birthdays, keeping house clean, paying bills, booking holidays and days out. I think women are amazing!

legoeverywhere2727 · 08/04/2026 15:33

I think they do exist. But then i have my moments too - mainly sleep deprivation down to childcare? Menopause. Brain fog.

But i find men more annoying on the streets generally from being too aggressive. Bumbling women aren't so bad.

Waterdust · 08/04/2026 15:33

Whats ditzy ?

sourceofnature · 08/04/2026 15:33

What were you hoping to achieve with this thread? That all women would come together and bash themselves for your entertainment?

SomeTameGazelles · 08/04/2026 15:34

I could write a long, vituperative paragraph about ditzy men.

FallacySunken · 08/04/2026 15:34

I have to say that I hate the trope that appears on films. The clumsy young woman in her 20s or 30s, tripping over on her way to the office, being clumsy, forgetful, grabbing her breakfast, dropping her handbag and spilling her coffee etc. I have seen it in so many films now. The women I know do not behave like this and I absolutely hate the portrayal. Once you notice it, you see it in a lot of TV programmes and film films.

ChurpyBurd · 08/04/2026 15:35

If they're looking for a manto rescue them.maybe, but just being forgetful?

That's a personality.

I agree, it started with Bridget Jones, we were encouraged to laugh at someone who could barely be an adult and cope with adult life, and it spiralled from there. We're meant to think it's charming and endearing when it's just bloody insulting.
I don't know any women in real life who act like that.

BetteDavisChin · 08/04/2026 15:40

At least women don't (as a general rule) blast my ears with tuneless whistling in the supermarket.

BestZebbie · 08/04/2026 15:41

'Meandering' can be a result of invisible multi-tasking - if you have one task in the shop, to buy one item, you can be swift going in and out - if you need to buy 40 items and several of them require decision-making at the point of sale, there might be some pausing (How many people will be eating this? Will the picky eater have it or do they need something else? If I get this then what about the other thing, can we have that next week? Would this be suitable to be that gift? What size feet do they have now?)

randomchap · 08/04/2026 15:41

Wow. Such misogynistic crap.

It's a sunny day, I'm sure you've got better things to do than this

Is that not just someone in a good mood?

Agree. I am ancient so noticed it with Ally McBeal. So frustrating.

Stnam · 08/04/2026 15:52

They are much more pleasant than impatient people who think they are superior.

Lengokengo · 08/04/2026 15:54

Agree about the ditsy clumsy trope on tv. I hated it in Ally McBeal (smart woman falls down often) and couldn’t watch more than 1 episode of the much-raved-about desperate housewives for the same reason. It just isn’t my experience of women.

yes there are annoying people who stop at the top of escalators, or are clumsy, or block the pavement etc etc but they are of both sexes!

BetteDavisChin · 08/04/2026 15:56

Ally886 · 08/04/2026 15:49

Not really, because if that was the case women would be doing it too.
I've nothing against whistling per se. It's the loud trilling variety that gets me. In the supermarket. By men.

youalright · 08/04/2026 15:57

I do wonder how some people dress themselves before leaving the house

Monty36 · 08/04/2026 16:00

I understand the irritation around the supermarket but cannot attribute this solely to women. It is women and men alike, some of whom seem to enter into a sort of trance like state once in the store. Unaware of trolley etiquette or other people they sometimes simply stand and stare ahead. Or if you are keenly picking out an item have fear of missing out and wonder what it is you are buying so come over to see.
Worst are those who section hog, knowing you want to get to something but spend an overlong amount of time selecting an item.

Shopping horrors. But men as well as women.

Oh yes. They are often the types that seem to want to take ownership of your trolley and move it out of their way. Not that it really was in the first place.

I am a woman. And no its not just them but mostly yes . How is that Sexism to want my own sex to be more ON IT . ARE YOU A DITZY ONE ?

WhatAMarvelousTune · 08/04/2026 16:05

Olivia Colman is bad for this I think. The woman got into Cambridge ffs (I appreciate she left quickly, but she did get in) but put her on the Graham Norton sofa and suddenly she is unable to string a coherent sentence together “oh gosh aren’t I so ridiculous I’ve literally completely forgotten every single thing about this film i starred in and that it is my job to promote ha ha ha what am I like”. I refuse to believe that’s her actual intellect, but I wish it was because putting it on is worse.

And when people on here start bashing men, do you say ‘what about all the women?’ Hope so
