Is there now a lack of personal responsibility?

Another thread inspired me to ask this question.

Now don't get me wrong there have been events over the last few years that have increased the cost of living. COVID, Truss budget, Ukraine/Russia, Iran etc.

Now I am by no means denying they haven't had a big impact, but are people using them to avoid failings in their lives?

I don't understand what people think is meant by personal responsibility on this thread.

Probably along the lines of “if you’re poor, make more money” , “if you’re homeless, get a house”. Problem solved.

That's how it reads. That is not what 'personal reponsibility' means. You can only do all this financial planning if you have enough left over to save etc.
There is no acknowledgement of the type of jobs that weren't furloughed in covid (ie essential and often badly paid).
