To be annoyed by this note pushed through my door - photo

I’ve recently moved to this street.

I know it’s politely written but it’s so passive aggressive.

The “end of the road” in question has a primary school on it. There were no spaces there at 830am when I needed to park. And there was someone in the space outside my house so I parked about two door down from my house in the only possible space.

I also have a blue badge.

AIBU to be annoyed? No house number on it so not sure which neighbour sent it

Everyone does, but that's how it goes sometimes. You don't have to like it, you just have to accept it.

I think that’s the point of the comment, self-awareness and of human nature in general!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 27/03/2026 22:41

If I found out who it was I would make an effort to park outside their house rather than my own forever more!

I would buy a cheap car that looks really shit and dump it outside their house permanently!

Changingplace · 27/03/2026 22:33

Twats.

You could be passive aggressive, photocopy it, attach your own response with details of someone already being in front of your house, blue badge etc and post a copy through all the neighbours houses so everyone else knows they’re a twat too 😁

Plus it’ll unnerve them because they’ll think you’ve only sent it to them so do know who sent it.

Edited

and I would also do this

Hahaha, yeah same - especially AFTER I’d got the council to paint a disabled space outside mine!!

Ohcrap082024 · 27/03/2026 23:43

I’d seriously look into applying for a bay as mentioned up thread.

I know you should ignore but if it were me, I’d have to do some amateur sleuthing.

That’s a woman’s handwriting, under 40 I’d say. So keep your eyes peeled for a female neighbour in the 25-40 bracket…or daughter of neighbours perhaps. One who visits regularly and can’t get her preferred parking spot.

Beaniebobbins · 27/03/2026 23:44

i am just struggling to think what sort of person leaves an anonymous note on a legally parked car with a blue badge. I wonder how they cope with real dickhead parking. Would that make them write notes in capitals or green pen or something?🤷‍♀️

Ohcrap082024 · 27/03/2026 23:45

The smiley face at the bottom would enrage me more than anything.

domenica1 · 27/03/2026 23:46

It was bad enough they left the note as it was — and then I read you have a blue badge! The nerve of some people!! Of course YANBU

Ohcrap082024 · 27/03/2026 23:47

@BeaniebobbinsI bet they would use a ruler and a red pen to underline key words if they were really, really angry.

LBFseBrom · 27/03/2026 23:50

Bin it.

climbintheback · 27/03/2026 22:31

It’s a woman between 25 and 35!

Oh do you reckon? My guess would be either male or female aged approx 50 🤔

RunningOnEmptyish · 27/03/2026 23:53

climbintheback · 27/03/2026 22:31

It’s a woman between 25 and 35!

It looks like my friend’s handwriting and she’s over 60.

BernardButlersBra · 27/03/2026 23:54

Ignore. The polite note title, content and twee smiley face are infuriating. The fixation about parking outside of your own house is just a parochial obsession. It’s first come, first served for sane people

portvfs · 27/03/2026 23:56

omg who is this person? How patronising. Yanbu

RunningOnEmptyish · 27/03/2026 23:57

Whenever you park on where you’re not “allowed”, leave a note stating that all “polite” notes will be ignored.

Twatterati · 27/03/2026 23:35

Yes AND sent a copy of the note to all the neighbours telling them that to avoid further upset you will get said disabled bay. So everyone knows that person is responsible.

EllaPaella · 27/03/2026 23:59

what a knob.. if people want to guarantee parking outside their house then they need to find a property with a drive. That’s literally the whole point of why some properties cost more than others. Just ignore.

TwoBagsOfCompost · 28/03/2026 00:10

Sweetbeansandmochi · 27/03/2026 22:28

I hate stuff like that. No one owns the road.
But (hypocrite alert) I also hate it when people park outside my house!!

My neighbour from 3 doors down regularly parks outside my house - instead of parking outside their own house!!! Makes absolutely zero sense and it drives me potty. The spaces are completely equivalent, yet they regularly opt for parking not outside their own house but outside mine. It's so bizarre 😭 made even worse by the fact that they often take up two spaces. The whole thing makes no sense.

Ohcrap082024 · 28/03/2026 00:12

Actually, looking again, that could easily be my SIL’s handwriting and she is mid 60s.

Uberella · 28/03/2026 00:14

This is what happens when you move into a house with no dedicated parking/very limited parking;it becomes parking wars especially when properties have multiple cars.

Just ignore it.

Okiedokie123 · 28/03/2026 00:14

Ignore!
I’d also be willing to bet that’s a woman’s handwriting.

Roadtripp · 28/03/2026 00:15

Get yourself a dash cam and keep parking it in that spot until the cowardly culprit is unmasked and then share the footage on the neighbourhood WhatsApp asking if anyone knows who this is littering my car!

Roadtripp · 28/03/2026 00:18

ClairDeLaLune · 27/03/2026 23:31

My uncle did this but with a big caterpillar digger!!!

Anyone who writes “polite note” about their own note is a dick.

You write a note, you try to be polite, and I’ll judge whether you’ve managed it. Which this person hasn’t, because they’ve come across as an arse “thank you in anticipation of your cooperation”.

I’d probably never park in front of my own house again. I assume you can guess who wrote this based on where you were parked. I’d park there every day.

The thing that winds me up about’Polite notice’ is that it was never meant to mean a polite note - it was to make people think it read ‘police notice’ and take it more seriously…like a sign saying ’no parking’ - if people driving past think it’s a police sign, they won’t ignore it
