Forks are female and knives are male

And spoons are female too.
Or is it just me?

I also think letters and numbers are gendered and some of them have quite specific personalities. Eg. Both G and H are older matriarchal women.

I am aware I am coming across as an absolute loon.

Well, this thread is proving to be catnip for MN’s synaesthetes. It’s fascinating seeing how much you all disagree about the colours for days of the week.

I always eat pudding with a tiny spoon. It tastes so much better that way.

Yes! My husband has never understood this.

CoheedandCambria · 22/03/2026 19:09

Wednesday is red in my eyes. And I like it when Christmas falls on a Wednesday - it feels right.

Mummyratbag · 22/03/2026 19:12

Hmmm...Christmas "should" fall at the weekend (with additional bank holidays to compensate)

Holdinguphalfthesky · 22/03/2026 19:12

I didn’t realise it until you said that knives were male, but my reaction was “no, knives are female. Forked are male. Spoons are also female.”

So YABU but only for that reason.

Monday is red. Tuesday is green or blue and Wednesday is yellow. However, only the actual words. The days themselves have different colours depending what’s happening on them.

The year is round, with Christmas at the top. Weeks are rectangular when you look at the whole week, but when you look more closely at the front (Mon-Weds) or back (Thurs-Sun) of the week they join up…

Mummyratbag · 22/03/2026 18:59

No, but Monday is pink.

Absolute rubbish! Monday is red! You've clearly got Synthesisia like me.

LittleGreenDuck · 22/03/2026 19:14

No, but Monday is pink.

No it's not, it's brown. Tuesdays are pink!!😁

vincettenoir · 22/03/2026 19:16

Yeah for me all numbers and letters are gendered. Not coloured though.

Mummyratbag · 22/03/2026 19:17

I've found my people (even if I disagree with them) .. The year is like a calendar with months two at a time.
Jan Feb
Mar Apr
May Jun
Jul Aug
Sep Oct
Nov Dec

but then the following January turns 180 degrees..

Weeks run in squares left to right forever..

It's clearly green, but the bottle green of Christmas.

Monday is white, Tuesday is blue, Thursday is orange and Friday is Red. Saturday's colour depends on which season it is (currently brown) and Sunday is always yellow.

LittleGreenDuck · 22/03/2026 19:14

ImFinePMSL · 22/03/2026 19:19

Thursday, October, the number 7 and the colour orange are all the same.

January, March, July, August, September, October - Male

February, April, May, June, November, December - Female

Kwamitiki · 22/03/2026 19:19

Even numbers are definitely female, odd ones are male.

Yes yes yes all of this yes

Except February is also orange

BelleEpoque27 · 22/03/2026 19:21

Numbers and letters absolutely have genders. I only discovered most people don't see them when I was a teenager.

Some numbers and letters are the same in my head, and I really struggle to remember the correct order if I need to remember them. For example, 5, B, G and H are the same.

CoheedandCambria · 22/03/2026 19:21

How on Earth can Saturday be black? Saturday?!

OP posts:
rebeccachoc · 22/03/2026 19:24

I feel so at home here. Nobody I know is a sufferer (if that's the right word), so nobody understands when I say days of the week have colours for example, they think I'm mad. But FYI people the week is a rainbow starting at red, it fits perfectly.

ImFinePMSL · 22/03/2026 19:26

January - White
February - Pink
March - Sage Green
April - Pale yellow
May - Light Blue
June - Yellow
July - Red
August - Gold
September - Brown
October - Orange
November - Purple
December - Black

CoheedandCambria · 22/03/2026 19:26

Saturday and Sunday are both female though obvs.
Friday is the alpha male but not in a horrible Andrew Tate way just sporty vibes, outdoorsy and green. Thursday is an academic kind of guy, dark blueish and Tuesday is a lily-livered cowardly yellow.
Monday, Wednesday and the weekend all female. (Is this just to do with how I view their initial letters? Maybe)

flagpolesitta · 22/03/2026 19:26

Yes and the month May

OpheliaNightingale · 22/03/2026 19:26

@ is purple male or female? That’s what I struggle with!

idontknowwhattodo2026 · 22/03/2026 19:27

Lowercase e is always smiling 😊

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/03/2026 19:27

Sunday is white. Saturday is apple-green. Monday is slate-blue.

Knives are policemen.

ObelixtheGaul · 22/03/2026 19:28

Friday is purple. Saturday is lilac. Sunday is a rich, sunsetty orange. Monday is beige. Tuesday is primrose, whilst Wednesday is a shimmering blue, like the Mediterranean. Thursday, for some reason, for me, has no colour. But is tastes like sherbet lemons.
