How much I hate Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.
I mean (controversial) I always have. But now I hate it even more.
There I said it.
Am I being unreasonable?

At one point the most played first dance wedding song was I'll be watching you by The Police, even though it's actually about stalking. Apparently Sting found it hilarious that the couple's never realised what the lyrics meant.

It's a right dirge and I have no recollection of it from the 90s. I also have a distinct lack of photographs other than a couple of blurred snaps from disposable cameras, which is just as well. Memories beat evidence!

YANBU, and given all the awesome music they was in the 90s, to soundtrack that meme with such a dull piece of MOR!

They could have had Nirvana, Primal Scream, Underworld...

I got married in ‘98 and I don’t remember the song from that time at all! Just watched on YouTube and of course I know it. Don’t mind it. Wouldn’t be in my list of favourites. Prefer more upbeat stuff from all decades although Unfinished Sympathy is probs the best of the 90s plus Oasis, of course

Marlboro menthols had white filters and have been known to be lit at the wrong end.

I loathe all the clips that have a bleeding awful version of Let it Be playing, some rough voiced slowed down abomination. Why do they all choose the same song anyway??

Loved the 90s but I feel Iris has become bigger now than it was even then. Dont mind it tbh. Music just felt so much more eclectic then - there was a genre for everyone.

I hate it too, but the one that takes my most hated song is True by Spandau Ballet, ruined the 80’s!! Absolute dirge both of them.

I was abroad a lot in the 90s so never really heard it until 2001.
Weirdly I was in a really intense situationship and was having a meltdown about it… I put on some music without realising that my friend left the city of angels CD in my Walkman (lol) and the first song I heard was Iris, for the first time .
It was as though it had been written about that exact situation/ even some of the words said in conversations earlier that day. It was so weird.
Anyeay it’s not a song or band I’d often listen to but I love that song, for that moment in time

Far too ballady, not enough indie for me, hated it then, and even more so now. Lead singer was quite fit though.

You've all reminded me of some classic 90's pop/rock and I also realised I routinely deliberately changed words! So, and I realise some of this is not PC so apologies, we would sing Asians instead of Angels for Robbie's song and any others (City of Asians etc etc), You're Gormless instead of gorgeous, Just a Little Thrush instead of Crush.
