If your insomnia was cured by ‘good sleep hygiene’, you didn’t really have insomnia

I'd like to ban 20mph limits and those skin coloured leggings that make me wonder if the young woman has left home without a skirt or trousers.

CoyGoldenKoi · 17/03/2026 23:56

Part of the driving test ought to be driving through progressively narrower sets of poles. If you don't know how wide your car is and can't safely manoeuvre it properly within a space 6" wider on either side (I'm being generous!), you shouldn't be allowed to drive.

This part of the test is also administered every time you buy a new car.

School mums are fucking weird - or almost all the ones I know are

As opposed to who, home ed mums? Not that I have anything against home ed mums but I think it's fair to say that some of them are a tad eccentric.

Anyway, I think anyone who modifies their car or motorbike exhaust to make it sound like a 1000 decibel fart should be fined £1,000 for a first offence. For a second offence, their vehicle should be confiscated for good.

My BiL was of much the same opinion as me, then he got a pair for around the house, then he was just nipping to the local shop in them, and now he only takes them off his feet to put golf shoes on. They’re insidious. I’m too frightened to ever try a pair on in case the same thing happens to me.

Croc-creep! So it is a thing. Sounds terrifying.

I assume everyone who's obsessed with perfect cleanliness and/or zero UPF eating etc is a shit shag. 😆

Mental health may be an invisible illness but sometimes suffers do just need to put their big girl/ boy pants on and get on with life . ( or maybe just my DH should)

The great British public needs to understand that those with mental illness are not usually choosing not to do things, they can’t do them.

Although. there are exceptions to the rule. If you see me procrastinating about tbe washing up, give me some encouragement to do ir because I feel much better for doing it.

I agree. Also people who insist on talking with a mouthful of food - disgusting.

Including those who cover their mouths with their hand while continuing to talk.

I now have a mental image of them creeping out of a shoe rack like crocodiles out of a pond.

People who only tag previous posters without quoting what they wrote should be banned from Mumsnet.

I'm not trawling back through a million posts to find out what they actually mean.

🙄 Nobody is asking you to, least of all me. It wasn’t anything insightful or life changing. It was a throwaway comment about Crocs, to two other posters who would know exactly what I was referring to, and it didn’t occur to me that anyone else would be interested.

And I’m not quoting unnecessarily just because some nosy fucker doesn’t want to RTFT. Get some sleep, you’ve obviously had a rough day and I’m not having a midnight argument with an internet random over fucking Crocs, of all things.

portvfs · 18/03/2026 00:03

I don’t understand why people keep pointless pets like hamsters and rats and fish that just make a mess and die early.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 18/03/2026 00:03

Mental health may be an invisible illness but...........

People who write "mental health" when they actually mean "poor mental health" should be banned from Mumsnet.

How was I supposed to know it was about Crocs?

ThatPearlkitty · 18/03/2026 00:05

society should be built to be as best as possible services education etc, and without it all being about $$

mumofoneAloneandwell · 17/03/2026 23:42

Omg

Those 'the money won't change me' wankers

I become a different person when I find cash around the house!

See I would spend it. Nice house. Nice car ,( by this I mean luxury family salon not a chavvy penis car), never work another day.
BUT , I would still shop in Aldi and Primark and travel on cheap airlines.
Does that make me changed or not? What joy is there in life wothout preceived bargains?

oviraptor21 · 18/03/2026 00:07

No-one needs to spit.

ThatPearlkitty · 18/03/2026 00:08

they say tv does not influence behaviour when people use it as a defence in court, so why then are millions spent on advertising etc ?

murasaki · 18/03/2026 00:09

Nobody should be allowed to vote unless they can name 3 policies in the manifesto of the party they are voting for.

Well it would have got you a nice house, a nice car and the freedom to not have to work.

So it would change your life but not necessarily you as a person.

I think that’s what people mean when they say it won’t change them.

ClairDeLaLune · 18/03/2026 00:11

I'd like to ban 20mph limits and those skin coloured leggings that make me wonder if the young woman has left home without a skirt or trousers.

The other day my DD and I were on a bus that was waiting to leave and saw a woman sitting outside a cafe who was wearing skin-coloured leggings and a matching T-shirt. At first glance she looked completely naked apart from a small black crossbody bag placed "strategically" over her crotch. DD and I both got the giggles. Luckily, the woman couldn't have heard and never glanced in our direction - she was too busy talking to a young waiter who appeared to be politely pretending not to notice that she was starkers.
