People who win several million quid on the lottery and don’t give up work should be made to give the money back, so it can go to someone with the imagination to actually enjoy it instead

Omg

Those 'the money won't change me' wankers

I become a different person when I find cash around the house!

I run ultra marathons, I’m wondering why you think it’s selfish or self obsessed? I’ve never expected my family to be at any finish line, DH and I have always ensured each of us has time for our ourselves while the children are cared for when one of us are doing our hobbies. I seriously don’t understand why it’s self obsessed or selfish.

Edited

Genuinely if you’re happy then you’re happy. But I am assuming that ultra marathon training isn’t a few hours a week? So you work and you train every day… and have kids? So to me, being a mum is the priority and I get others don’t feel that way and want more time to themselves etc.. but I couldn’t without feeling guilty and selfish. So I guess to me someone who spends more time on a hobby than with their child is selfish. Sorry.

People in London should not have big dogs. The park doesn't cut it for space to exercise and anyway (and more importantly) I want to picnic in it unaccosted by wet sniffy noses in me profiteroles.

It's my favourite thing in the world when I find $20 in my coat pocket that I'd forgotten about from last winter. I'm like, "Woohoo! Today is going to be a gooood day!"

People who only tag previous posters without quoting what they wrote should be banned from Mumsnet.

I'm not trawling back through a million posts to find out what they actually mean.

Not every problem with children is linked to them being neurodiverse .

*edit, not meaning any offence

Edited

People refusing to accept that most problems with children can potentially be due to neurodivergence.

Oooff how do you know she doesn’t have a baby that naps in a running pram?
and also you come across as quite judgemental and jealous of how supported this mum is that she can model that women have their own lives to their children.

People with expensive powerful cars who toodle around at 10 mph under the speed limit should have the car taken away and given to me and get a picanto instead.

hey! I have a picanto ..3 cyl..runs on fumes.. bought it new 4 years ago when we moved here... sold our jeep grand cherokee , our suberu outback..and my husbands baby..his dodge challenger hellcat. moved from Canada to the Dominican republic. I love my Kia picanto, husband tolerates it but knows it is a great little car and we do not live were we should drive expensive cars lol

I think the key word there was sometimes. Not everyone. Hope you’re ok at the moment?

Hrm, I got offered a DIY CBT course earlier this week after I realised I was slipping again, so not really. The good people of Mumsnet however have informed me (on another thread) that DIY CBT courses are great and I just need to put the work in. Kind of a catch 22 because the reason I asked for help is because I can't put the work in and if I could I wouldn't ask for help. It's a mystery really.

Totally. When people say “We won’t let it change our lives” I immediately think “Then why buy a ticket in the first place, you boring gits?”

Yep which is why I dont share this opinion in general and am sharing it here. Im pretty sure most people doing iron man training and ultra marathons don’t take their kids training either… and not jealous but do wish I didn’t have such a strong feeling of what Mums should and shouldn’t do.

Most problems with kids are due to poor parenting.

You should read bringing up Bebe. It talks about mum guilt. I feel you.

Agree with this so much. What's even the point of having money if you're so bereft of thought that you don't know what to do with it? Give it to me. I'll show you what spending looks like.

BauhausOfEliott · 17/03/2026 23:52

People who come on to “Confess Your Unpopular Opinion” threads like this and start trying to debate and critique the unpopular opinions are missing the point

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/03/2026 23:52

Gentle Parenting is shit and leads to badly-behaved children.

There's nothing wrong with reality TV as part of a balanced TV diet.

IPM · 17/03/2026 23:54

MNetters who announce “I didn’t want to read and run” before imparting their wisdom, really aren’t as important as they like to sound.

No-one knows or cares so no need to make it sound as though you’re doing the OP a favour, by taking time out of your busy life.

murasaki · 17/03/2026 23:55

People who campaigned for the laugh emoji to be removed as they couldn't cope with a bit of piss taking need to have a word with themselves.

takealettermsjones · 17/03/2026 23:55

I assume everyone who's obsessed with perfect cleanliness and/or zero UPF eating etc is a shit shag. 😆
