Foul language on here.

AIBU to expect people to use less foul language on here. I’m put off by people using c , f.
Im not a prude and believe me there is many a time I’ve used the F word in conversations but wouldn’t dream of using it on here and never the c word.
Edited as deleted the asterisks - obviously doesn’t like them.

Swearing Is Actually a Sign of More Intelligence - Not Less - Say Scientists : ScienceAlert https://share.google/AtoB2SdqiYjiyxtQG

Don't be such a pompous prig op.

SabrinaThwaite · 15/03/2026 11:23

I’m reminded of that classic MN response off you pop, cuntychops.

Usernamenotfound1 · 15/03/2026 11:24

AsparagusSeason · 15/03/2026 11:20

Don’t be silly.

Nothing wrong with a judicious cunt or fuck.

I’ll tell you what annoys me - is when people put asterisks in profanities. Like we’re too delicate to cope with them.

Yep.

just say it. Even if you use asterisks you’re still saying those words, so just fucking say it.

f**k is no different to fuck. Just indicates you think you have some moral high ground because you don’t use the actual words. You’re still a sweary twat.

Fibrous · 15/03/2026 11:24

Don’t ever go on holiday to Ireland.

WestwardHo1 · 15/03/2026 11:24

Surely you must have known early on that MN was a sweary site? Why should people police their language simply because it offends you? Offence is taken not given.

Name calling gets deleted anyway (though that is annoyingly inconsistent). To me there's a world of difference between "you're a cunt" and "stop being a cunt".

Perhaps you should choose a different site.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/03/2026 11:25

Bunch of fucking cunts.

To all of you swearing on this thread I rest my case.

Oh NO!

What's going to happen now you've rested your case?! 😱

TwistedWonder · 15/03/2026 11:25

Seeing as the most common use of cunt is regarding a cocklodging POS abusive twat of a bloke then in the right circumstances it’s justified

Lemondrizzle4A · 15/03/2026 11:19

To all of you swearing on this thread I rest my case.

In what way?

If someone behaves like a cunt, I'll call them out on it.

I can't stand it when posters write ct and fk instead of just writing CUNT and FUCK.

It's so twee and unnecessary. "Cunt" and "fuck" are just words.

What really pisses me off on here is bad grammar, not bad language.

AsparagusSeason · 15/03/2026 11:26

Don't be such a pompous prig op.

Exactly. Prig is such a great word.

RobinInTheCrabApple · 15/03/2026 11:26

It's all going to improve OP because Mumsnet is bringing in a new No Swearing policy on the 17th March 2026.

See you next Tuesday.

the cunting thing with will probably get fucking nicked!

BauhausOfEliott · 15/03/2026 11:26

OhDear111 · 15/03/2026 11:16

I agree. Not being able to articulate an argument and resorting to swearing diminishes the point being made in my view.

Oh, I can articulate an argument without swearing. In fact, it’s literally my job to communicate clearly and persuasively on platforms where I can’t swear. I do it all day.

Doesn’t mean I always choose to do it in my private life. I understand the richness of language and the impact of words, so I’m afraid I’ll keep swearing as much as I fucking want.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/03/2026 11:26

Personal choice isn't it. It doesn't bother me, unless used really aggressively.
OTOH some posters berate others for using asterisks or whatever, but they should be able to do that if they want to.

Llttledrummergirls · 15/03/2026 11:27

Well fuck, thats me told

Nethuns is ➡️

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 15/03/2026 11:27

The language on here is fucking disgusting. It pisses me right off.

WonkyMirror · 15/03/2026 11:28

I don’t swear much on here or in real life but that doesn’t mean I never do it and I feel this is a safe space to do it. I don’t think individual people do it much but lots of women are posting here and you’re noticing every instance and so it seems a lot.
I never hear the language I see on here irl, I’m more prone to thinking it’s a beautiful thing that women get to let loose, I always have an image of them venting in here having a giggle to themselves and then turning round with a big smile on their faces and getting on with their lives. Isn’t it great that this exists?!

Oh God yes - an incorrect their/there/they’re/your/you’re bother me far more than swearing

CarbGoading · 15/03/2026 11:29

It's a site for adults OP. It will feature language used by over 18s.

no, can’t be St Patrick’s day!

no celebration in Ireland without a liberal sprinkling of feck and cunt.

Egit · 15/03/2026 11:29

If it’s good enough for Olivia Coleman, it’s good enough for me

RobinInTheCrabApple · 15/03/2026 11:30

You great big fucking onion.

Westfacing · 15/03/2026 11:31

I don't mind the odd fuck used here and there - it can add emphasis!

But have to say I can't bear to see the C word written down - like the N word it looks and sounds so ugly

BauhausOfEliott · 15/03/2026 11:21

You can’t ’expect’ other people to modify their language to suit you. And if you say ‘fuck’ in conversation in person, you’re a hypocrite to complain about people using it writing.

Yes this is a curious bit of hypocrisy.

Why is writing it down any more offensive that saying it out loud.

How fucking weird.
