Yoghurt

Advice to avoid flavoured yoghurts is often given but many people will not eat plain yoghurt. Do you avoid flavoured yoghurts/kefir?

You are being unreasonable - I buy plain only
You are NOT being unreasonable - I buy flavoured

I make my own in a yoghurt maker. So cheap and easy.

rubyslippers · 12/03/2026 16:28

I buy plain fage yoghurt and add honey or fruit myself

takealettermsjones · 12/03/2026 16:30

I buy flavoured yoghurts if I want to. I also drink wine and eat Doritos and I don't even make my own bread. 😱

Justcallmedaffodil · 12/03/2026 16:34

I don’t like plain yogurt, so tend to buy the Rachel’s Organic flavoured ones.

AdoraBell · 12/03/2026 16:35

I buy Greek yoghurt I use frozen berries. DH likes natural yoghurt with berries and other fruits.

Exactly the same!

itsthetea · 12/03/2026 16:38

I buy plain and add my own flavour - spoonful of homemade jam or some honey for sweetness , fruit, nuts seeds or cornflakes for crunch

I do drink wine and eat Doritos but yoghurt is so easy to get good taste and much better for you

WhatwillitTake · 12/03/2026 16:39

Fage strawberry OMG, the best IMHO! Although dh, and I disagree on how it is pronounced.
I find most people who eat natural yoghurt flavour it with something, eg honey etc.

Nicecatneighbour · 12/03/2026 16:39

I buy Longley Farm yoghurt if I can. They are the best, hazelnut or any of the flavours, actually. Life is too short for inferior yoghurt, imo.
I also drink wine and eat Doritos. 😬

Doyouthinktheyknow · 12/03/2026 16:39

I do a bit of both! I try to do low upf but I do need some flavour with my yogurt so I have flavoured or I add flavour drops to plain which are probably just as bad!

Overall I’m not worried though, I do my best and don’t eat a lot of upf foods! My diet used to be sweets, crisps and snack foods so I’ve come a long way!

amdel · 12/03/2026 16:52

I make up a fruit mush (lightly blended mix of everything and anything lying around), add a few drops of vanilla extract to that, and throw a spoonful on the plain yogurt. So nice. I also have a yogurt strainer, so if the plain yogurt is too runny I leave it in there overnight, and get Greek style thick yogurt next morning.

ChinaPlates · 12/03/2026 16:57

I buy 10% fat Greek yogurt. I buy frozen blueberries and I also add a seed mix. It’s so delicious I’m actually a bit addicted.

I ear loads of crap food as well. I don’t like flavoured yogurt.

Witchesbe · 12/03/2026 17:00

There is flavoured yogurt and flavoured yogurt though. Not all are equal

CharlotteRumpling · 12/03/2026 17:01

I don't have a sweet tooth so I don't like flavoured yoghurt. I only like natural.

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 12/03/2026 17:02

I buy the flavoured ones, sometimes I’ll top with fresh fruit, other times I’ll add granola with chocolate and crumbled up meringue.

Could not give less of a crap about sugar/fat/protein/calorie content. If I’m hungry or fancy something, I’ll have it. I do a very physically demanding job so I tell myself I’m burning it off, whether I am or not I don’t know but it makes me feel better about not eating healthy.

Gardenquestion22 · 12/03/2026 17:04

I really llike flavoured yoghurt but rarely buy it as unflavoured yoghurt is more versatile. For savoury or sweet things or cooking or whatever. Also I suspect I don't need the added sugar....

outerspacepotato · 12/03/2026 17:10

I make my own yogurt and add some fresh fruit or compote, some hemp seeds, maybe a bit of granola. I like a really tart yogurt.

Fibrous · 12/03/2026 17:11

I mostly buy plain fage yoghurt but also love a caramel longley farm. I don't eat doritos or drink wine. I do make my own bread. I also boil my own pulses. But can scoff a packet of jaffa cakes in one sitting. Make of that what you will!

Lurkingandlearning · 12/03/2026 17:15

I have flavoured yogurt as dessert sometimes. I thought it would be less fattening. M&S yogurts are delicious and only recently discovered that it is probably because they have whipped cream mixed in. Damn!

Shatteredallthetimelately · 12/03/2026 17:15

I've stopped buying favoured yogurts, mainly due to taste, or in some cases lack of it, artificial sometimes.

I now only buy authentic 5% Greek yogurt, never 0%, be it Fage, Waitrose No1 or Tesco finest as I find these creamy and smooth.
I add dried fruits, nuts and seeds never fresh fruit as they digest at different times and for me make me feel bloated, also add a squeeze of honey or maple syrup.

LemonVenom · 12/03/2026 17:15

Greek yoghurt, not the low fat one. It’s lovely on its own or with fruit or used to make overnight oats.

Vicliz24 · 12/03/2026 17:17

Full fat Greek yogurt with a spoon of honey and chia seeds is food of the gods .

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 12/03/2026 17:18

Greek yogurt with my oats, fruit, and seeds. I actually bought some flavoured yogurt recently to have something different and didn’t really enjoy it, I’ve got used to the plain version now, it’s really tasty in its own right. Nice to have a dollop with certain meals too.

bloodredfeaturewall · 12/03/2026 17:19

buy plain
add jam nutella chocolate sprinklesstewed fruits to taste

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 12/03/2026 17:20

I buy whatever I fancy that week. Sometimes it’s not even on offer!
