Advice to avoid flavoured yoghurts is often given but many people will not eat plain yoghurt. Do you avoid flavoured yoghurts/kefir?

You are being unreasonable - I buy plain only
You are NOT being unreasonable - I buy flavoured

Absolute rubbish comment. ... No wonder there is an obesity problem when people think like you. so I guess I'm considered to be thick.

Goodness, who would have thought there would be such strong opinions on flavoured yoghurt! Thank you for the info, and I don't know about you, but I'm going to get some pre flavoured yoghurt for an evening treat! 😋

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 19:41

I'm definitely seeing flavoured yoghurt in a new light. I might even buy some HAZELNUT ones. Grin

I never said you were "thick". I said the Fair trade was not about ingredients and that that brand of yoghurt contained added sugar. You can infer whatever you want from me stating facts.

Fage strawberry OMG, the best IMHO! Although dh, and I disagree on how it is pronounced.
I find most people who eat natural yoghurt flavour it with something, eg honey etc.

It's pronounced "FA-yeh." Here in the US the pronunciation is on the container.

You see, if I had hazelnut I'd have to have some chocolate with it too; it is mandatory, and it would be rude not to after all!

I didn't say that you said I was "thick".

I cook meals from scratch, am vegetarian, rarely eat UPFs, rarely fry anything, have to remember to eat salt occasionally, don't have any sugar in the house but I have an unopened jar of honey. I rarely eat cakes or biscuits or even cereal, but you laid into me because I don't object to fruit yoghurt containing sugar.

This is factually incorrect.

Chocolate - lovely.
Hazelnuts - lovely.
Chocolate and hazelnuts together - not lovely.

You've got life all wrong.

Auroraloves · 13/03/2026 21:05

I love real Greek yoghurt, this is always first choice

Nope. You keep twisting things. You said that Fairtade was about the ingredients - wrong. You then claimed that raspberries contain sugar - of course they do, but I clearly said the yoghurt contained ADDED sugar. You rarely eat UPF, fine, but you have been promoting UPF yoghurts.

So, whoever is saying it that way is the one who's correct. I don't know if it's you or your husband but I guess it must be you because of the way you responded. 🤷‍♀️

AlbieJiggered · 14/03/2026 10:15

@Theyreeatingthedogs, A yoghurt with only fruit and sugar added is not a UPF, and I haven't been promoting or twisting anything.
You seem to have a very rigid mindset and to only be after an echo chamber.

Wtafdidido · 14/03/2026 10:38

We buy plain proper Greek yogurt and I make compotes or stewed fruits to go in Them or occasionally home made lemon curd. So much nicer and healthier .
stewed apricots and prunes
mixed berries
rhubarb and ginger
blackberry and apple
if needed I sweeten with a little maple syrup or sweetener if we have none.

It says on the pot how it's pronounced, as well as in the adverts.

BethBynnag86 · 14/03/2026 10:51

Always plain and always Tim's Greek Yoghurt .It's absolutely gorgeous and creamy and I could down a large tub in one but I have to stop myself!I just usually top with some raspberries,or strawberries in season.

usually plain and add lemon curd

You linked to Lemon Village Dairy yoghurt - UPF. I'm not looking for an echo chamber. What I can't accept is recommendations for UPF products from someone who says they rarely eat UPFs. It's illogical

tbh people wailing about upf bore me

you are talking about yoghurt. which will rarely be the only thing someone eats. and even with added sugar/starch/fruit will provide good nutrition.

processing is used to make food safe to eat
upf is a descriptor that's no well defined

There's processing, and there's ultra processing.

It's quite obvious the difference between an natural yoghurt with chopped strawberries stirred through..... Than a yoghurt that's artificially flavoured, coloured, thickened with gums and "fruit flavour pieces" stirred through.

It's not rocket science.

And as boring as it is, you should try to eliminate as much UPF as possible.

PonyPatter44 · 14/03/2026 13:54

I certainly don't need lectures from a twit someone on the Internet about the dangers of flavoured yogurt. Sometimes I buy Greek yogurt to cook with, and DH does overnight oats with it. Its nice with granola as well. However, the best yogurt ever was the Mr Fussy fudge-flavoured one that was probably more sugar than actual yogurt. It was truly epic.

ICanLiveWithIt · 14/03/2026 13:56

I eat plain Greek yoghurt. But I eat it with a bar of galaxy or dairy milk instead of a spoon
