Advice to avoid flavoured yoghurts is often given but many people will not eat plain yoghurt. Do you avoid flavoured yoghurts/kefir?

You are being unreasonable - I buy plain only
You are NOT being unreasonable - I buy flavoured

The Yeo Valley extra thick yogurt is organic so better quality milk and really creamy and thick and delicious. I have it with berries and nut butter, delicious.

Fruit kefir - check the ingredients. Many are just yogurt with fruit puree and a tiny bit of starch to stabilize, much better than other yoghurts with thickeners, emulsifiers and sweeteners.

Again Yeo Valley is good, also Biotiful and Bio & Me - theirs has chicory root fibre instead of starch.

What's the beef with flavoured yoghurts? The one I have on the go at the moment is live greek yoghurt, raspberries, citric acid (lemon juice to you and me) and corn starch. All perfectly normal food ingredients.

Most yoghhurt I eat is plain as I prefer it and also use it a lot in savoury cooking, but I don't think a bit of fruit in yoghurt is going to cause an issue.

I like Longley Farms. I also love a Muller Corner.

We love greek yogurt here, add berries and granola or nuts, dates or honey. Creamy, crunchy and delicious!
The kids still prefer the sweetened fruit yogurts and are very excited when we buy them occasionally! But they already have too much sugary stuff so we encourage them to eat the greek yogurt.

AlbieJiggered · 12/03/2026 17:24

Buy decent natural yoghurt and add whatever you like to it if you want to.

GloiredeDijon · 12/03/2026 17:24

I avoid all of it. Can’t stand the stuff.

LameImpala · 12/03/2026 17:25

I don’t eat yogurt very often so if I fancy a flavoured one I’ll have it but I probably only eat one every two years.

SylvanMoon · 12/03/2026 17:25

I make my own plain plant milk yogurt in a yogurt maker.

NoYourNameChanged · 12/03/2026 17:27

I buy both 🤷‍♀️ breakfast tends to be Greek yoghurt with fruit, but if I fancy a quick snack of an afternoon, it’s generally a flavoured yoghurt. The peach and passionfruit Lidl one specifically, bloody delicious.

Fage strawberry OMG, the best IMHO! Although dh, and I disagree on how it is pronounced.
I find most people who eat natural yoghurt flavour it with something, eg honey etc.

How can any disagree with how it’s pronounced considering their highly annoying and bombarding ad of the last two years ‘it’s called Fa-yeh for a reason.’ Not sure they’ve ever revealed the actual reason.

faerylights · 12/03/2026 17:31

Flavoured only, I can't stand plain yoghurt.

Hellohelga · 12/03/2026 17:31

I buy blueberries - fresh or frozen - then cook them up till the go to a mushy compote. It only takes a few minutes and can be done in pan or microwave. Cool and add to plain yoghurt for a lush homemade fruit yoghurt. Add oats for a lush Bircher. Add nuts and seeds for something that would cost £4 in Pret A Manger. No additives at all.

MagnusSkipton · 12/03/2026 17:32

I buy Fage yoghurt and add fruit and nuts etc as required. I find store bought flavoured yoghurt to be absolutely minging.

SoScarletItWas · 12/03/2026 17:36

If you dip your Doritos in natural organic yoghurt are they better? Asking for a friend…

dizzydizzydizzy · 12/03/2026 17:38

I but mostly plain but some flavoured. When I do buy flavoured, I check the ingredients list because I like to avoid weird ingredients that I couldn’t have in my kitchen.

rubyslippers · 12/03/2026 16:28

I buy plain fage yoghurt and add honey or fruit myself

This is what I do too.

Missey85 · 12/03/2026 17:42

I buy flavoured greek yoghurt 😊💜

I make my own plain plant milk yogurt in a yogurt maker.

That sounds like a very upsetting substance.

I buy flavoured yoghurts if I want to. I also drink wine and eat Doritos and I don't even make my own bread. 😱

Sad times 😂

faerylights · 12/03/2026 17:45

This is such a middle class thread 😂

wishingonastar101 · 12/03/2026 17:59

I eat a lot of plain yogurt with savoury meals - like falafel or curry etc. even make it into lebneh (which I am not sure of how to spell) by squeezing it into a muslin and adding salt. Yummy with pitta or salads.

auserna · 12/03/2026 18:11

I fully appreciate you can start a thread about whatever you want, and I didn't have to click on it (although the title was just "Yoghurt" which I am interested in), but why do you care whether other people eat flavoured yoghurt? I mean, obviously they do, otherwise it wouldn't be available in the shops.

Are you doing market research?

Love yoghurt with curry etc. (Not strawberry yoghurt, obvs.)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/03/2026 18:13

Personally I avoid all of it. 🤮

Bearbookagainandagain · 12/03/2026 18:15

We buy mostly plain. I'm the only one who eats flavoured yogurts, occasionally.

Kids have always eaten plain, with some honey or a bit of jam once they turn 2-3. They'll happily eat it plain of we're not home though.
