Advice to avoid flavoured yoghurts is often given but many people will not eat plain yoghurt. Do you avoid flavoured yoghurts/kefir?

You are being unreasonable - I buy plain only
You are NOT being unreasonable - I buy flavoured

I buy Longley Farm yoghurt if I can. They are the best, hazelnut or any of the flavours, actually. Life is too short for inferior yoghurt, imo.
I also drink wine and eat Doritos. 😬

There are a couple of farm shop type places near us which stock Longley Farm, but the flavour that was really lush is banana and I’ve not seen one of those for years.

So I stick to Greek yog or Skyre with fruit and nuts.

Basquervill · 13/03/2026 13:28

Fage with chopped dates and walnut pieces for me. I eat this because I think it’s better for me than pre sweetened yoghurts… but I love Tim’s dairy coffee yoghurt, it’s gorgeous.

DuchessofStaffordshire · 13/03/2026 13:42

I always have a large tub of plain Greek yoghurt in the fridge and kefir. I add yoghurt to lots of recipes. I love a bowl of greek yoghurt with banana and honey with some flaked almonds. Sometimes just a mixture of berries or stewed plums with cinnamon. If a recipe calls for mayo I'll generally substitute at least half with yoghurt (coleslaw for example) as I find a mouthful of mayo a bit cloying and heavy. I add kefir every morning to my overnight oats with berries and seeds.

Moveyourbleedingarse · 13/03/2026 13:46

Fage 0% with kefir mixed in. Add M&S blueberries, chopped banana, mixed seeds, flax, chia seeds.

I don't like sweet stuff.

Banana Yogurt | Longley Farm

I buy flavoured yoghurts if I want to. I also drink wine and eat Doritos and I don't even make my own bread. 😱

You outlaw!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 13:55

These are delicious but the list of ingredients is a bit long:
Strawberry - Village Dairy
Lemon - Village Dairy

Seymour5 · 13/03/2026 15:16

Natural, low fat, usually from Lidl, for making overnight oats, topped with frozen raspberries. For flavoured yoghurt, I like Isey Skyr Baked Apple - big pots.

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 13:52

Glad to see they do still exist - I think the shops get a mixed selection and the banana ones get snapped up first.

Fibrous · 13/03/2026 16:30

We're not far from Longley Farm so every greengrocers and farm shop around here sells them. I also like the banana flavour (and the hazelnut and the caramel), although they're all good. It's the tang.

Plenty of banana ones in stock up here. The cottage cheese is also the best. And I always have to lick the lid of the double cream, much to my cats disappointment.

Ohfuckrucksack · 13/03/2026 16:32

I buy plain greek yogurt and make fruit compote with far too much sugar in it.

I'm not sure it's any healthier than flavoured.

Squirrelandhedgehogs · 13/03/2026 16:36

Often get plain Greek yoghurt and add fruit but less often get flavoured like lemon curd, vanilla, Muller corners.

DaisyChain505 · 13/03/2026 16:38

Authentic Greek yoghurt only and then add to it at home. Nuts, frozen berries, honey, chia seeds etc.

By whom ?
Where?

What have I missed ?

I've read all 4 pages but am none the wiser about why it is controversial to buy a flavoured yoghurt.

Flavoured yoghurts generally have added sugar (top end) or sweeteners +random chemical flavourings. They are classed as UPF

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 17:24

@JustGiveMeReason , because of the added ingredients.
e.g.
Yogurt (Milk), Water, Strawberries (9%), Modified Maize Starch, Flavourings, Stabilisers: Pectins, Acidity Regulators: Sodium Citrates, Citric Acid, Colouring Foods: Beetroot Juice & Black Carrot Concentrates, Sweetener: Aspartame, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D

An ingredient being Fairtrade does have something to do with the ingredients
The raspberries contain sugar anyway.

Absolute rubbish comment. Fairtade is about how suppliers are treated nothing to do with the product itself. Of course raspberries contain sugar, it's not about that, it's that the manufacturers are adding in EXTRA sugar. No wonder there is an obesity problem when people think like you.

How can any disagree with how it’s pronounced considering their highly annoying and bombarding ad of the last two years ‘it’s called Fa-yeh for a reason.’ Not sure they’ve ever revealed the actual reason.

Yup, just a joke dh, and I have. Don't really watch adverts.

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 18:27

@Theyreeatingthedogs , No wonder there is an obesity problem when people think like you.
What are you insinuating? I'm not obese and I seldom eat UPF.
If I fancied a flavoured yoghurt, I'd look at the ingredients list.

I eat so little sugar that the amount in a yoghurt isn't going to harm me.
I'd not be eating something with Modified Maize Starch, Sodium Citrates and Aspartame in them.

Modified maize starch is a form of glucose, i.e. sugar.
Aspartame is a sweetener. I avoid it.
Sodium citrates are added for food stability and other things like emulsifying.

I'd prefer to support Fairtrade where possible.

I can't remember when I last ate a fruit yoghurt. 2023 I think and it was a Yeo Valley one.

I don't think anyone gets obese from eating flavoured yoghurt. I certainly won't.

Fage strawberry is out of this world good, it’s like mousse, I always have pots and pots of it in the fridge.

It is so good isn't it?! I can take or leave yoghurt usually but that one is delicious. I used to love Muller smooth strawberry (came in a huge pot in the 90s), and this is the first yoghurt I have found to rival it, always pick it up, especially when on deal.

keffie12 · 13/03/2026 18:37

I buy 0% Greek Fage yoghurt plain, and I have it with Greek honey. Love it. I get the honey from Amazon incase anyone is wondering where to get traditional honeys from

AlbieJiggered · 13/03/2026 18:37

@WhatwillitTake , @Iloveluna It's fah-yeh (ˈfaʝe). Greek for 'Eat'. Φάγε.
