No sir (or madam) I don’t want intimate knowledge of your nether regions through the medium of flesh coloured scrunchbum pants and inappropriate swimwear that clings to your flaccid member ***title edited by MNHQ to correct a typo***

Totally get that in theory everyone has a right to wear what they wish but even so…I theory I have a right to not have to walk around looking at the floor

Curses. Nether. Not meter.

I always thought that when I saw a lady with protuberant nipples that she was chilly. I didn’t realise you could buy nipple enhancing clothing outside of that little passageway by Berwick St.

What is the world coming to?

False nipples are also supplied by the NHS post mastectomy.

KvotheTheBloodless · 08/03/2026 13:47

A colleague of mine once wore a flesh coloured skintight jumpsuit to work. It was really distracting, as my brain kept registering her as naked even though at second glance she was covered fully. Super weird clothing choice - very attention-grabbing which I suppose is the point, but not at all appropriate for the office. We don't have a detailed dress code though (just 'professional/business attire' with no further detail) and damned if I was going to take the fall for harassment if I mentioned it, so I took the coward's way out and ignored it.

On the London Underground the other day there was a young woman wearing flesh-coloured, skin tight, scrunch-bum tights or else very thin leggings - with a waist length top.

There are times when I really do think ‘Wear whatever you like!’ has gone too far.

The days of romance and subtle allure are certainly gone 😂

A woman going about her day in public minding her own business is not trying to ‘romance’ you.

No, and of course such a woman as I quoted is not a blatant exhibitionist, either, wanting people to gawp at her - heaven forfend that anyone should think so!

TheMatildaEffect · 08/03/2026 13:56

Yanbu. I was in body conditioning class, stuck inches behind a young woman in beige bum enhancers yesterday.

Every time we leaned forward, I felt like I was looking right into her soul.

God knows what it's like for the men who get stuck behind these.

Church

Sounds like a vast improvement on my church!

ThatCyanCat · 08/03/2026 13:57

I thought those ridiculous scrunch bum leggings went out long ago. Not seen them for absolutely ages.

VisitingInkMonitor · 08/03/2026 13:59

Twice in the last week I’ve been walking behind someone wearing really thin black leggings that were translucent across the bum to the point I could see their undies (blue thong in one case, floral hipsters in the other). Is this a deliberate fashion choice or the equivalent of tucking your skirt in your knickers and I should have told them?

WhatAPavalova · 08/03/2026 13:59

Agree, I even find myself trying to avoid glancing at men in grey tracksuit bottoms, I'm not a pervert, I swear they must design them to outline the nether regions.

Andepeda · 08/03/2026 14:00

There are some advantages to being housebound. My lovely postie wears shorts sometimes but I'm ok with that.

BookOfBritishBirds · 08/03/2026 14:01

At the risk of sounding like Mary Whitehouse, there's an argument that some revealing clothing skims pretty closely to the obscenity laws. If you can see the defined shape of a small flaccid penis through pretty flimsy, slightly damp swim shorts, then surely you can see a penis.

Blimey, all these people who say, don't look. Would they say that about a flasher? Not staring might be an option, but not seeing isn't. And some things once seen cannot be unseen. No one wants their eyes assaulted in the way the OP describes.

Man wearing wet clinging swimming trunks at church= inappropriate for the setting and a concern.
Same man at a swimming pool= to be expected, surely?

Same man at swimming pool should have the decency to invest in swimwear which is fit for purpose. Interestingly IMO budgie smugglers are considerably less alarming than semi damp cheesecloth in a pale colour that shows everything.

Its a form of oppression.

I don’t think what other people are wearing should have any offence to people in the slightest. Look, or look away.

On International Women’s Day of all days to come on and berate women for wearing something they either feel comfortable in or feel they look good in is terrible.

Get over it, move on.

It's probably because of what day it is this thread is here, sadly.

So have you voiced your concerns about being oppressed to the swimming pool management?

I often wonder if posters on MN are constantly cover in bruises and have to visit A & E for broken bones. Surely that’s what happens if you walk around never looking at the floor or where you are going. Don’t you walk into bollards or fall down steps?

But isn't it accepted that it's not polite or possibly even ableist to focus attention on people with obvious disabilities, deformities, skin conditions etc even when some of those people may be acting in a way that draws attention?

And not to pay attention to DC having tantrums, couples having arguments and so on.

And not bat an eye when people are wearing clothes or engaging in behaviours that are outside of the norm which will draw attention and are often the intention of the person exhibiting them.

So how does it work?

Just don't look at anyone ever for more than a second or two? but also if you don't look, you're potentially being ableist or discriminatory with numerous visibly disabled people and activists saying they absolutely hate and deem it a form of discrimination when people pretend they can't see them or don't acknowledge their differences.

@BookOfBritishBirds tried to launch a female top shelf mag. I think it was called ‘For Women’ . Obscenity laws being what they were the bronzed and muscly male models who graced their pages were all in relaxed mode.

Every time that's been attempted, it has turned out the people buying and looking at the magazines were gay men, not women.

I think anyone who lives on planet earth would know that a straight woman would never buy a magazine to look at dicks.

I agree I just want to admire the broad thick shoulders & upper chest, rippling forearms and hands like shovels, flat belly, huge muscular quads hamstrings and calves etc.

Sure, you can wear what you like, if it is within the establishment rules. I do, however wonder why the woman wearing the tiny, totally arse revealing bikini with a top that barely covered her nipples chose to dress in it at the local private gym pool. She showered, walked round the pool once, sat in the jacuzzi for 3 minutes and left. Everyone else was in the sort of costume you wear for serious swimming.

Oh no, she wasn't one of the young women who, err.... distracted your husband, recently, was she?
