To think the Green Party and esp its Deputy Leader is a real worry for women

CraftyTaupeBee · 06/03/2026 18:37

Over the last few months I have watched with incredulity the rise of the Green Party in the polls and wondered if I am alone in this. Mothin Ali their Deputy publicly celebrated Oct 7th (which he then apologised for) and has been seen this week at an event mourning the death of the Ayatollah. I am not anti any religion but his wife is fully covered in a niqab and I feel despite what others say to have a woman's face fully covered is a tool of oppression and not something I would want in a leader as a value set. I realise others may not feel this way and it is not meant to be offensive but the facts are there. And recently a female spin doctor for the Greens alleged that rape had not taken place on Oct 7th. To me the Green Party is reminiscent of what happened in 1979 and something that ultimately affected women's rights drastically (as well as any other rights of the gay community and others). The soft left (much like the Greens) allowed the strict islamic vote to take hold and look where they ended up. This really worries me for the country. Am I the only one? And why does the Green Party seem to be so anti west and anti white. I realise Zack Polanksi is gay and jewish and they are strange bedfellows but it feels like a trojan horse mindset and not something I want for my western liberal feminist girls. In fact it feels anti feminist?

I am just correcting your assertion that trans women have the same offending rates as men.

So you give no reason why women should be made to endanger yourself for the feelings of men. Right.

YouGov polling begs to differ:

https://sex-matters.org/posts/single-sex-services/poll-shows-support-for-sex-meaning-sex-in-equality-act/

Most women don’t want to share single sex spaces with men, and the women who support men in women’s spaces if falling over time.

The grift is over, thank goodness.

As I said, it depends on the recruitment methods of the poll itself. I never answered yougov surveys and nor does anyone I know. If you all shared this on here, then yeah the results Will be skewered.

That’s interesting because he’s the exact age of my husband and they have a the exact same story. As matrimonial. So Zack would be third gen from his GP coming over and technically he is Jewish. But no way would my husband declare himself Jewish. Even though he knows he is technically both ethically jewish and religiously through matrimonial Jewish.
My husband has the same background, and was brought up actively atheist, so culturally not Jewish and really only Jewish according to Judaism, which he doesn't believe in or practice. I have questioned him about it as it's only since he's got involved in Hard Left politics that he has started saying he's Jewish. I mean he is Jewish and his DNA says he's Jewish but in all the ways that matters I would say he isn't.

But why is he now saying he's Jewish? Since 7 October 23? Serious question - I'm not being goady because I've found a lot of previously Jewish denying people have since stated that they are now Jewish.

Their problem is that they have absolutely no idea how to turn that hope into an economical reality.
"We'll take all the money we need off the rich and borrow the rest" really doesn't hack it as an economic policy.

Not to mention that after they have left NATO, persuaded there rest of Europe to leave NATO and join up with Brazil, Mexico and some other random countries he is going to have to spend a shit ton on defence, because Brazil, Mexico and a load of extremely poor countries in Africa will be expecting to be protected from aggression from presumably America. Because of course by then he'd have persuaded Putin and the Ayatollahs to hand in all their nuclear weapons.

You don’t expect him to have thought it through do you? These manifesto ideas seem to have just come to him in a dream. They make about as much sense. He’s so breathtakingly clueless I’m embarrassed for all of those who thought he was a real politician with workable ideas. He’s a joke. Just as much of a joke as Farage. Spewing nonsense for the terminally hard of thinking to lap up.

I think people generally, have started to wake up to what men who want to wear dresses are really up to. Most didn't mind when it was a few who just quietly got on with their own lives and really didn't want to be noticed. I dealt with one such in my first job after university, a slightly slimmer version of the late great Margaret Rutherford. Literally in twinset, pearls and sensible shoes. What we have now are vociferous, demanding men. Men who want to take women's places in sports, jobs, men who want entry to hostels for women fleeing violence, and everything else. We have people prancing about like 1950s housewives in a caricature of female behaviour. I think many people started to understand when rapists were sent to female prisons, and men boxed women at the Olympics. A lot of people started to scratch their heads, and understood exactly what was happening. And, of course, nurses being told to educate themselves and change with a man in the room really did cause many to get what the problem is.
Sorry, a bit of a ramble, but I hope that common sense will prevail. Despite the Green Party.

I dont need to. Ive already said this is a non-issue for me. I have far bigger problems. I get that this is the biggest threat to your existence. It isnt the biggest threat to me and mine.

I am more concerned about non white prisoners having to share space with racists than I am women having to share with trans people. Like a 1000x more concerned.

Abosolute nonsense. I did the same search omitting cis and got the same spiel referring to the same studies. Is this the silliness you tell each other on here so you can ignore research that disagrees with you?

Research (Dhejne et al being one) states there’s no difference in offending rates when you are insisting there is. So no, it’s not nonsense. 70% (happy to be corrected but it’s high) of trans women in the prison estate are also in for sex offences. I think the only person ignoring research here is you.

This was already covered in the post I wrote. You wont accept why the research is flawed because it says what you want it to say.

Its okay that this is your biggest issue in life
You should feel happy about that

It’s possible to be concerned about more than one issue, at the same time.

Be honest with yourself (I dont really care), how much time do you dedicate to thinking about and posting about other issues?

Are you one of the posters who wont vote for any party who doesnt feel the same as you on this irrespective of their stance on other issues?

You can't share YouGov surveys. They are by invitation and they select participants to match the demographic of the country. I sometimes get invitations and often get screened out because they already have enough responses from people of my age and sex and geographical region.

I dont know anyone who has ever been invited to one or who partakes in any sort of research. How do they know who you are if you do not approach them?

Correct, won’t vote for anyone who thinks women can have a penis. Women fought long and hard for these rights. If they lie about such a basic fact I have no confidence they’ll be able to deal with any other issue I consider important.

Thats what I mean. Whether they think a woman can have a penis is way down on my list of priorities. Things like "do they want to chuck me out of the country" are far higher on my list and of much more importance. The fact that I know some (white) women would vote for a party that would kick me out of here just because of their stance on trans people is very frightening. This is why so many Black women have so many trust issues with white women. They dont give a fuck about us.

The links are on the graph but the data came from the ONS and MOJ.

I can't remember how they first got in contact with me but it's many years ago, I probably forgot to untick a box at some point. I have done quite a few surveys for them, mostly about political issues, more about Scottish independence than anything else.
They explain on their website how they operate. It's not like we on FWR pass these surveys to each other, that is not how it works.

Ive never been asked by a survey for any sort of political or social opinion of mine. I was actually discussing this a few months ago with family when something said that women like something or feel something and me and my sisters were like "nobody asked us!". And it came on to a broader point about where the get these people from

The thing is you are spending a lot of time telling posters what they consider is important to them (and whether you like it or not women retaining sex based spaces and sports is to a lot of women,
especially survivors of sexual assault), just isn’t an issue, you don’t care, it’s not important etc etc etc. Trans blah blah (when that not a trans issue it’s a male issue). Over and over.

Yet I don’t see anyone else doing the same to you about what you consider important.

So basically you don't care about men taking over women's, all women's spaces? You know men who do that aren't looking at ethnicity. They just want to do it to validate themselves. No matter who they upset or harm.

loislovesstewie · 11/03/2026 15:12

But I want you to hear this again. The fact that we are in this climate and you say you wouldnt vote for a party who supports trans people/gender identity is terrifying to me as a Black woman. I am terrified of you now and I see you as dangerous to me and mine. It tells me that you would vote for a party who want to harm me and my family and against a (potentially a sole) party who would work to protect us. You make this country more dangerous for us.

I care a little about sports but otherwise I have far more pressing issues from white people to deal with frankly

I agree with you OP. I think a lot of people have given up on Labour and see the Green's as a more natrual home form them - but I think those people are , mistaken at best and being very stupid at worst.

Most are very angry about Gaza, which I understand, but they havn't bothered to learn ebough about the middle east to realsie that many (not all) of the pro-Palestinian voices in the Greens are also pro IRGC in Iran, pro-Hezbollah in Lebanon and pro-Hamas.

The Greens will sink Labour in upcoming elections but they have no realisitc chance of winning themselves - a vote for them opens the door for Reform, who will probably go into some kind of coalition with the Tories.
