She definitely has some uncontrolled bipolar, possibly self medicated with something bad. Always the same bizarre dancing. She is dead behind the eyes. She needs to step away and get help. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she passed soon 😞

My DSis is a psychiatrist and we’ve had conversations about Britney, she told me that a lot of women 40-60 misdiagnosed with bipolar present in a similar way and she’s seeing more and more a lot as inpatients where they’ve been medicated for a long time but after reassessing are found to have combined MH diagnoses often AuDHD , CPTSD some do still retain the bipolar diagnosis but she said there are some striking similarities to the point of stimming often with a focus on something to do with their original career (hence Britney with the spinning and dancing)

Poor Britney.

I think it's a nasty combination of mental illness and drugs. I worked with someone for years who developed a drug addiction (it took quite a few years for it to be noticed at all, despite seeing her every day. I now understand what a functioning addict is and how until you see it, you don't really see it). Britney's Insta reels have always reminded me of how this women looked, dressed and behaved once her addiction really took hold.

Everyone at work tried to help this woman once it became clear to us that she was, by then, a drug addict. We tried everything - she resisted everything. She had debt but what finally compelled her to leave the area was being in debt to very dangerous people.

There is a marked deterioration in how Britney looks and is moving the recent 3 videos on her account. I don't know much about her family but I do think it's unfair to ask where her sons are in all of this; I think that they would have tried along with other people to help her.

Britney presumably has enough money to pay for people to do as she instructs them to do (enablers). I don't know how anyone could possibly get through to her when she has the money to buy a ring of security around her to protect her wishes and the way she wants to live her life. The Instagram videos are distressing for the world to watch so must be incredibly hard for her family and the people who love her.

Allegedly it’s meth. I wish they’d stop her driving before she kills someone.

People - her management, her fans - wanted her to dance seductively and show off her body when she was in her 20s. Now she’s in her 40s and still doing it because it’s what she knows.
She was exploited and deeply let down by those around her from when she was a teenager and this is the result.

I agree with this - except that she was expected to do it in her teens. 😔 I think she was 16 when "Hit Me Baby" was released.

Angelic999 · 26/02/2026 13:13

The demise of child stars shows just how important the childhood years are. I'd love an in depth psychological assessment of this. Any psychologists on here?

Yes and before that she was a performer on the Mickey mouse show. She's been sold out since being very young.

She’s clearly traumatised by all the years she was controlled by everyone around her. She’s still stuck in the whole performing monkey routine. She needs help but can’t trust anyone. I feel so sorry for her.

She was "controlled" for all those years to try and avoid this. Shes clearly been very unwell for a long time and should still have that protection in place.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense, especially with the repetitive dancing and spinning.

I don’t necessarily think she’s bipolar. There are a number of other things that can induce mania and psychosis.

Britney has allegedly been heavily abusing drugs for a long time, predating the conservatorship. Uppers to keep her going, and downers so she can sleep. She has also allegedly had a number of overdoses, and a supply of narcan was/is kept at her house. At least one of those overdoses is alleged to have resulted in anoxic brain injury.

She’s been sued at least twice by former bodyguards. The first one accused her of sexual harassment, child abuse, and drug abuse. These went away with undisclosed financial settlements and NDAs.

Sam Lufti is another one that received a settlement to go away and shut up, after publicly making statements about what he had allegedly witnessed prior to the conservatorship. As odious as he was/is, they didn’t sue him for defamation. This alone doesn’t prove he was telling the truth of course, but what he’s said very much aligns with the things others have said.

Although it’s a drug associated almost exclusively with one demographic, methamphetamine is way more popular with celebrities and otherwise ‘respectable’ people than is realized. Cocaine doesn’t last very long, whereas meth can keep someone going full throttle for hours if not days.

Stickytoffeetartt · 26/02/2026 16:08

She looks completely possessed. And her hair is like a nest 🙈 I hope someone saves her from herself soon. She's a tormented soul. I always think it's so devastating that she missed her boys growing up. When she locked herself & the boys in the room because she didnt want to give them back..just horrific 😪

She still did the weird dances when under the conservatorship though. And she was made to perform, it was all very exploitative I think.

Tbh there's not a lot to be done if her family aren't trustworthy and don't have her best interests at heart. Major US cities literally have tent cities of homeless people profoundly unwell with mental health issues, drug abuse or both, in far worse states than Britney, and they're still left on the streets.

Biosblbay · 26/02/2026 16:49

I’ve just come onto Mumsnet to start a post myself about her posts on insta but just seen there is one already here!

I have just gone back through her recent videos and noticed in the background there seems to be a bottle of half drunk Jack Daniel’s on the table on the one uploaded 3 days ago where she is in a black bra and red crop top. It seems by her actions and facial expressions she is definitely mixing drink and drugs to be acting this way. Wish we could know more or she would share her story and be honest!

jojogwangwan · 26/02/2026 16:56

Cade will be the one editing her videos. He has been known to also get fucked up with her. Just enabler like the Britney stans.

They wasn’t weird dances though, it was clearly choreography she was doing, now it’s just god knows what !

nolongersurprised · 26/02/2026 10:50

How would you do this though?

My family have had a recent ish struggle of trying to get an older family member to seek medical help. It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to intervene in another adult’s life if they don’t want to see anyone, don’t want to get help, refuse to accept that there’s a problem.

Hypothetically, if Britney’s sister came and somehow got her into a car, what happens then? She can’t be dragged into rehab, doctors and/or therapy if she doesn’t want to be.

Well, in the UK she could be if she is deemed to lack the capacity to make decisions about her healthcare/medication or if she is deemed to be a risk to herself and others under the MHA. She would be detained and admitted to hospital if the criteria were met.

Not sure how it works in the USA, but there must be something?

Honestly the USA seems to have worse emergency mental healthcare than us. People in eg LA, Portland, New York wandering the streets floridly mentally unwell and even dangerous.

80smonster · 26/02/2026 17:35

I was wondering about these.

It varies by state, and she would be under Californian jurisdiction. She has previously been held under a 5150, which is a short term hold of 72 hours, but can be extended to 14 days.

Beyond that you’re looking at a conservatorship, and no one is going to invite the inevitable drama a new one would cause.

Yeah, while her dad and all his mates lived off her millions. She wasn't well enough to make her own decisions or control her own life, but she was well enough to headline at Vegas and make a shit load of albums. Funny that!

Everything about her is unsettling. The clothes, the joker make up, the gibberish when she talks on camera, the rambling stream of consciousness in her insta posts, the bizarre dancing and the creepy music she often favours to 'dance' to. What you see of her house in the background reminds me of the hotel in The Shining.
She is unrecognisable in every way from the pop star of the 90's.
Her insta seriously creeps me out. It's so far removed from reality, it's like a series of clips and pictures from a scary movie.

Yep. It wasn't to "avoid this" but to put it off long enough so she could do a Vegas residency as a nice earner for them.

If she was well and in control of her own life I suspect she would have retired around the time she released Circus.

Yeah, does she not have staff? Housekeepers? It’s always the same spot in her house which must be huge.

This is a very strange take.
A lot of mumsnet users will have grown up with Britney and have a lot of time for her, especially with the Free Britney movement.

What do you want PP to do exactly regarding a grown woman in an entirely different country?

Or is it just problematic because PP have found this situation with a very public figure upsetting and have wanted to talk about it and you don't care to?

Picking up the phone might be a good start. And expressing your concerns to a person in authority might prompt that person to express their concerns to a person in the US, who, in turn, might contact the proper authorities.

You could email and text every authority you know.
Do everything you can think of to help.
Then sit back, knowing you did everything you knew to help.
Conscience? Clean.

What’s strange is being super concerned and doing absolutely nothing about it.
And if you think it isn’t strange, I cannot assist you.
So very sorry.
So sorry.

You can simply sit back and watch the person you’re so extremely worried about fall apart and claim there was nothing you could do and then claim your conscience is clean.
Super weird.

TessTickle0 · 26/02/2026 19:42

Yeah I can just see myself phoning up the police to tell them I am most concerned about Britney Spears, because someone on the internet told me too.
