To be annoyed at partner booking a trip…

I have wanted to go away for ages but due partners work we have to wait till June for our main holiday.
Today he texts me saying he has booked 2 nights in Gran Canaria next weekend.
We don’t get there till 5pm Saturday and come home 5pm monday.
What is the point
The flights were only £40 return but still ridiculous

If he has then YABU and a little bit ungrateful.

But if you don't want to go then don't, I am sure your partner can find someone else to take who will be grateful of a couple of nights away.

Well you would get Saturday evening, all day Sunday, Sunday evening and Monday morning. Plenty of time to have a nice weekend.

That's eight hours of flying, plus getting to and from the airport twice, and waiting at the airport......for one day in the sun.

Strange choice of destination for a weekend trip tbh. Most would do city breaks, Gran Canaria is an all inclusive week long sort of trip surely.

I wouldn’t go….couldn’t be arsed with all the travelling for 1 full day

unless there is a drip feed that you don’t like flying, had a traumatic experience in Gran Canaria previously I can’t see the problem, I’d be thanking him and quickly digging through my holiday clothes to decide what I’m wearing.

I think you’ll get a lot of stick here, it sounds to me more tiring than a break.

surely a sensible thing would have been to just book somewhere in the UK where you don’t have to travel for hours and hours to get to?

seems like a kind thought, but badly planned out.

It’s enough time for a nice late dinner on Saturday, then I’d book one if the sea kayaking trips for the Sunday, and enjoy the rest of the day exploring then Mondays you’ve time for a nice lunch before heading away. It’s a little adventure and a change of scene from home. OP is being spoilt and rude.

I’ve gone away for a day before and I’m going to Pisa on Saturday flying home late same night .

I would love a weekend abroad - hes done a lovely thing and imo you’re being a brat

No offence but you must be easily pleased….or holiday deprived…..I mean 8 hours travel on Saturday and another 8 hours travel on Monday….could you be arsed? I go on lots of short breaks …but never less than 3 nights if going abroad….just not worth the hassle

Personally that would be way too much faff for so little time actually there, I wouldn’t be keen either.

I’ve just got back from Gran Canaria. It was a really nice break but i thought it was a long journey even for our 5 night break (obviously I could see how long it would be before I left, but knowing it and seeing how it feels are different)

I don’t think it would be worth the travelling for two nights.

Waiting till june for your "main" holiday- what a chore! Most people have to wait till summer for their only holiday 🙄. Well i would rather 2 nights 2 day in the sun than another raining weekend at home. Do you realise how spoilt and entitled you sound. I feel sorry for your partner, dont go and let him have a nice weekend by himself
