Made to feel uncomfortable

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:17

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

I think you’re getting a hard time here @Scottishlassie10 was at an indoor waterpark recently and loads of women in thong bikinis with barely there triangles tops covering not much more than nipples. My 12 year old daughter said after ‘it was good but wish I hadn’t had to stare at so many bare butts waiting for the water slides’ and ‘why are some girls virtually naked it’s gross’ .
Im a middle aged woman and I didn’t know where to look at times.
Also have a private health club membership and def see this more and more now in this context too.

Thank you. That’s how my husband felt. That’s the type of “bikini” he was describing and like you I too have seen it.

I’m hoping you responded to you daughter that women can choose to wear what they like and that it’s rude to call them gross?

No i didn’t actually. I said nothing. She’s allowed to form her own opinions

A few weeks ago, a plumber came to replace my kitchen tap. He was a large gentleman, who clearly did not favour high rise trousers.
When he was bending down under the sink, I caught a view of his hairy arse.
You know what I did? I left the kitchen until he finished because I didn't want to see that.
He finished, I paid, all good.

Why was he so bothered about their bikinis?
Couldn't he look away when they were showering? Couldn't he just relax with his eyes closed in the jacuzzi?

😂😂
Some 62 year old bloke looking at the fish fingers would definitely feel uncomfortable at such a parade, obviously coming on to him like that when he's trying to shop!
Have a care!

Can you imagine the op's dh 'the wimmin were parading up and down the aisle, I could see the outline of their bumcheeks through their tight leggings then one of them picked up a banana and looked at me suggestively, I had to leave after I'd put in a complaint to busybodies.com'.

Cherrytree86 · 20/02/2026 12:08

Women have boobs and bums. That’s life. He needs to deal with it. You need to deal with it.

@KaleQueen

just as women are allowed to wear whatever swimwear they want 🤷‍♀️

icouldholditwithacobweb · 20/02/2026 12:10

YANBU OP, I wouldn't have liked it either. If you want to be mostly naked that's fine but go do it on the beach, not in the gym spa area where you have to be respectful of being in close proximity to other gym users. My partner would have left, too.

As a parent I would have thought it’s your job to challenge opinions, especially ones which are judgemental and rude.

Your husband will eye up women on other occasions too. This won't be a one-off. I suspect you're very aware of this but won't admit it here.

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:32

He did leave. His point is and I think it’s a valid one, the showers are facing the jacuzzi and rather than have a quick shower before entering they stood there rubbing they’re boobs then turned round and did the same with their arse. He let that go but it was fairly obvious from what he says, they knew what they were doing. Then when they came into the jacuzzi where there’s plenty of room and sit in very close proximity is what made him feel uncomfortable.

Sounds like they knew exactly what they were doing. No wonder your husband felt uncomfortable

It wasn't in a gym. It was a jacuzzi.

scottishgirl69 · 20/02/2026 12:14

Would it have been different if they were wearing the "right" type of bikini - not a thong and if they were slightly more covered up?

butterpuffed · 20/02/2026 12:14

EleanorReally · 20/02/2026 09:46

what did they do wrong
i bet they were glad he left

Of course they were .

OP seems to think they were showing him rubbing themselves to tease him. . Wrong ! They wanted the jacuzzi to themselves and knew what they were doing would embarrass and get rid of him.

Don't wear a bikini in the.... water?
What 😂

I can only think he was, Gloriia. He spoke of mixers and double levers, the sauce bucket! Think I don't know his game?!
Imagine coming to someone's house and dressing like a tart.

I don't believe for a minute they were rubbing their boobs and their arse in the shower.

KaleQueen · 20/02/2026 12:17

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 12:00

Don’t stare at them then. It’s not difficult.

I wasnt staring. That would be weird. I do have eyes though and it’s rather difficult to
navigate a water park with one’s eyes closed.

scottishgirl69 · 20/02/2026 12:18

How do you think staff cope with all the arse rubbing and the thong bikinis - do they get the vapours and walk off shift?

Completely different. That guy just needed a belt, he didn’t turn up to your house in a pair of chaps.

I guess I’d like to understand how a string bikini which basically just about covers vulva and nipples but absolutely every other inch of skin is exposed to the world makes a woman ‘feel good’ as PP mentioned about her daughter. Is it the fact they know people will be staring and that makes them feel great?

There’s no way it’s more comfortable or practical to wear it so why else? It’s the same, as I mentioned before, as women who wear tight hot pants at the gym. It is NOT more comfortable or practical than leggings, the only reason for this is they get a kick out of being ogled by random men.

Angrybird76 · 20/02/2026 12:20

'from what he said they knew what they were doing'. So a man says that women must be doing things to deliberately entice them? erm, isnt that just a step away from saying 'they must be asking for it?' It's a bit weird that he is making so much of this, my DH goes to the gym all the time and has never mentioned anything like this. There is a plethora of kicking young people threads about at the moment, and older people have been slagging off younger people for a very long time, and your post and description is a little disturbing. They are allowed to be in the spa, go in the jacuzzi and use the showers, as is your husband. If he doesnt like it, suggest he finds another spa.
