Made to feel uncomfortable

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:17

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

Sounds like you are an itsy bit jealous, and women can wear what they want, its a shame if he felt uncomfortable and had to leave but i think we are way past insisting women need to wear a wetsuit in a jacuzzi to stop men looking at them

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:32

He did leave. His point is and I think it’s a valid one, the showers are facing the jacuzzi and rather than have a quick shower before entering they stood there rubbing they’re boobs then turned round and did the same with their arse. He let that go but it was fairly obvious from what he says, they knew what they were doing. Then when they came into the jacuzzi where there’s plenty of room and sit in very close proximity is what made him feel uncomfortable.

He let that go? What? What were they doing? Showering before they got in a jacuzzi?

In response to those who have implied that my husband thought they fancied him or were interested in him, that is definitely not the case. As for him telling me why wouldn’t he. I’d tell him if the situation was reversed. Also I’m certainly not jealous of these women.

Firstly they didn’t make your husband feel uncomfortable they probably didn’t even notice your husband or give him any thought. If he felt uncomfortable that’s his doing due to the thoughts in his own head,

and as for why wouldn’t he tell you? Because deep down you absolutely must know these young women were not standing rubbing their breasts and arses in the way he described. Thay never happened. In his perv struck head it may have been happening, but in the real world they had a quick shower and thay was it
and that’s wby he should have kept his sick fantasy to himself. And I can’t get my head round you even thinking thay could possibly happen.

Thongs are bad enough but this thing for women wearing them at leisure centres and U.K. normal pools is awful

Hijg · 20/02/2026 11:44

How old is she? Why does an item of clothing "make her feel good"?

She's in her 20s.

Don't you have clothing which makes you feel good?

As a female I honestly don't care what other people wear. I wear a swimming costume to the pool. More likely to wear a bikini on holiday but what other people do is completely up to them

Screamingabdabz · 20/02/2026 10:25

Sigh.

You do have two sets of rules because the power dynamic in your example is completely unequal.

A group of women and one man? What's the power dynamic there?

FunMustard · 20/02/2026 11:53

I'm sorry, this sounds like a little story he's cooked up to try and make you feel uncomfortable. ALL of them were rubbing their boobs and bums right in front of him in the shower?! My eyes are rolled so far back in my head I can see my own brain.

And the inverse would be a group of men and a singular woman in the jacuzzi, no?

scottishgirl69 · 20/02/2026 11:54

I've been in saunas with all men and I have felt a bit uncomfortable but only when people have started to chat to me - I always chat back though. Why would I make a complaint about men being in my space in a sauna they are allowed to be in?

What is actually wrong with a a practical one piece in a place like a private health club?

Nothing.
But there’s also nothing wrong with wearing a bikini either.

AncoraAmarena · 20/02/2026 11:55

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 10:06

At no point did he think they were putting on a personal show! The assumptions on how my husband thought is unbelievay

Really? In a previous post you said:

'they stood there rubbing they’re boobs then turned round and did the same with their arse. He let that go but it was fairly obvious from what he says, they knew what they were doing.'

So he obviously did think they were putting a performance on for him.

BTW, how did he 'let that go'? What could he have done about them having an actual shower?

Hijg · 20/02/2026 11:44

How old is she? Why does an item of clothing "make her feel good"?

What makes me feel good when I’m exercising, including swimming, at my health club is comfortable practical clothing, I don’t go there to make a fashion statement. Leggings and t shirt for the gym. A one piece for the pool. And there are many lovely flattering ones out there.

I might go for a quick parade to Tesco shortly or can one only parade in a bikini?

Only if its a thong bikini

Lots of people have items of clothing that makes them feel good. There is nothing wrong with that.

I’m in my 40’s and like to wear things that make me feel good and give me a boost.

KaleQueen · 20/02/2026 11:56

I think you’re getting a hard time here @Scottishlassie10 was at an indoor waterpark recently and loads of women in thong bikinis with barely there triangles tops covering not much more than nipples. My 12 year old daughter said after ‘it was good but wish I hadn’t had to stare at so many bare butts waiting for the water slides’ and ‘why are some girls virtually naked it’s gross’ .
Im a middle aged woman and I didn’t know where to look at times.
Also have a private health club membership and def see this more and more now in this context too.

Not everyone feels or thinks exactly the same as you.

I’m hoping you responded to you daughter that women can choose to wear what they like and that it’s rude to call them gross?

KaleQueen · 20/02/2026 11:59

Corinthiana · 20/02/2026 11:54

Why, what's the problem?

Because we don’t want to have to see someone’s entire bum when we’re just in for a swim?

Some 62 year old bloke looking at the fish fingers would definitely feel uncomfortable at such a parade, obviously coming on to him like that when he's trying to shop!
Have a care!

It's appalling isn't it. He 'let that go' 'they knew what they were doing'.

I really hoped the sick, archaic judgement of women might be diminishing but nope here we have chapter and verse from the op on how her dh carries the flag for misogynistic, inappropriate men's thoughts. Ugh.
