Made to feel uncomfortable

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:17

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

Maybe this is why we need single sex spaces?

In response to those who have implied that my husband thought they fancied him or were interested in him, that is definitely not the case. As for him telling me why wouldn’t he. I’d tell him if the situation was reversed. Also I’m certainly not jealous of these women.

But that's been a few small comments... NOT THE GENERAL CONSENSUS.

BudgetBuster · 20/02/2026 11:24

What a contradictory statement 😂
I'm all for women wearing what they are comfortable in... except

So you aren't all for women wearing what they want then?

Where is the line for your then? Are crotchless bikinis suitable?

loislovesstewie · 20/02/2026 11:26

JLou08 · 20/02/2026 11:22

Thong bikinis are inappropriate. I'm all for women wearing what they are comfortable in as long as they're not flashing private bits-breasts, bums and vaginas. If people don't want to cover their arse, they should go to a nudist event.

They weren't showing their vaginas, or did you mean vulvas? They were wearing thong bikinis which are perfectly normal. The vulva is covered. If the management weren't unhappy then that's the yardstick.

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:32

He did leave. His point is and I think it’s a valid one, the showers are facing the jacuzzi and rather than have a quick shower before entering they stood there rubbing they’re boobs then turned round and did the same with their arse. He let that go but it was fairly obvious from what he says, they knew what they were doing. Then when they came into the jacuzzi where there’s plenty of room and sit in very close proximity is what made him feel uncomfortable.

He didn’t have to look at them in the showers though did he? Nobody had his head clamped in place and his eyes forced open. Poor him, bet he’s traumatised!

I don't go around saying "I'm all for women wearing what they are comfortable in" though

You made a statement and immediately contradicted it. I didn't.

Women. Are. Not. Responsible. For. Men's. Thoughts. And. Actions.

This.

Op fgs women wear bikinis in spa areas! We don't all wear an M&S one piece.

Your dh needs to give the jacuzzi a wide berth if he feels 'uncomfortable' around women in bikinis.

Quite. Some creeps get off by watching women in the showers, or going from A to B in swimwear.

Why on earth would anyone ask if a 'crotchless' bikini acceptable Confused.

A bikini in a spa area is acceptable. Men feeling 'uncomfortable' are not.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 11:12

Followed by the rights to own property and have our own bank accounts. Perhaps marital rape will become legal again?

All because women wear bikinis in a jacuzzi.

Yes. Some people would like to return to a time of "different rules".
I suppose when women knew their place.

Hijg · 20/02/2026 11:35

If someone's wearing a skimpy outfit it's only natural that people (especially men) will look.

They should never touch, say anything creepy or take pictures, but just looking with eyes is going to happen.

Corinthiana · 20/02/2026 11:37

Brightlittlecanary · 20/02/2026 11:13

yes she comes across as misogynistic but I guess that’s as she’s married to some old perv who comes home and pretends young women dressed in barely there costumes and started slowly rubbing their boobs and bums in front of him and then crowded him in the jacuzzi, I assume as he’s so fucking hot they couldn’t control themselves.

ive been to many spas, and never once seen a group of young women come in and start slowly rubbing their breasts and bums in unison in front of some bloke. Who is guaranteed to be older and not remotely attractive to them. In fact if Brad Pitt, George clooney and Timothy chalomet were sitting there I am still sure they’d not all start doing that.

quite simply they showered and he was watching so closely all he could imagine was that.

All of this, x 💯

"Parading around" as in #walkingwhilefemale And wearing bikinis in a jacuzzi! How very dare they! Seriously, who needs men when we've got misogynists like this.

What is actually wrong with a a practical one piece in a place like a private health club?

Being in possession of boobs and a bum!

You cannot see genitals in a thong. Bum cheeks <gasp> are visible that is it.

As a pp said this is clearly why we need single sex spaces to protect us from the poor menz being 'uncomfortable'.

livingthenotebook · 20/02/2026 11:40

Sounds like they wanted the jacuzzi to themselves

Nothing is "wrong" with them but personally I hate them. I need underwire support with a back fastening and they are a nightmare to get on and even worse for going to the loo while wet. Prefer a tankini. Sometimes a bikini if it's hot.

My DD wears tiny bikinis because it makes her feel good. A one piece wouldn't make her feel as good so why should she wear one?

I might go for a quick parade to Tesco shortly or can one only parade in a bikini?

Nothing, IF you want to wear one and that’s what you feel good and comfortable in. I don’t, so it’s all kinds of wrong for me. I don’t wear bikinis either, much less thong bikinis so I don’t have any actual skin in the game.

How old is she? Why does an item of clothing "make her feel good"?

Ohfuckrucksack · 20/02/2026 11:45

@KimberleyClark The only thing wrong with a one piece is if people are forced to wear it when they don't want to.

You can choose the one piece, others can choose the string bikini.

Maybe your one piece makes people feel uncomfortable, maybe others think you shouldn't be allowed in a swimming pool.

Does that make them right?
