Made to feel uncomfortable

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

No they don't have to dress like nuns but neither do they have to dress like tarts

How does one dress like a tart?. Wearing a bikini makes you a tart?

@mydogisthebest Well thank you for showing us who you are.

I've noticed that from time to time we do seem to get an influx of people trying to claim, in various ways, that women are "just as bad as men actually worse, hypocrisy, double standards, misandry, attack of the evil predatory bikini jacuzzi girls, rhubarb rhubarb". There was a guy last night trying to suggest that women buy sex about as often as men do. He was just one recent example.

They used to happen when we'd had a thread taking the piss out of various misogynistic websites. Have we been laughing at Reddit lately or something?

oh please, don't patronise us.

Of course women can be as bad as men and you know it. I am not condoning ridiculous behaviour, but a small part of me is not entirely unhappy that women are not always the meek innocent fragile little creatures people like you would like us to be.

I am older, and possibly old fashioned- and unapologetic about it. I don't think women are doing themselves any favours by wearing deliberately skimpy clothing and then complaining men look at them.
In this instance, I don't think thong bikinis belong in a swimming pool/jacuzzi . Beach, okay - their choice.

They didn't complain, he did...

BudgetBuster · 20/02/2026 11:02

Babaar · 20/02/2026 10:58

That's actually the complete opposite of what OP wrote

The OP said that the jacuzzi was facing the showers. Jacuzzi by design are round. 2 of the women were able to sit opposite this man in the Jacuzzi... so he simply could have moved to avoid having to face the showers. Instead he chose to watch all 4, apparently touch their bodies in said shower area.

They flatter themselves though. I remember when I was young older blokes were like this. A 50 year old colleague accused me of flirting with him when I was 24!
I suppose I didn't wear a tent nor have my eyes downcast.
Jezebel !

You tart 😂

Even now though I get old blokes talking to me about their wives in case I might be flirting with them. Honestly I was just conversing about the layout in M&S while bored in the queue not sizing you up for a quickie…

Maybe the bikini had strawberries on it?

Have you been having breakfast in a hotel in the Lakes recently by any chance 😂

I feel uncomfortable that young women and girls feel they need to show so much flesh in public in order to be fashionable. Who is dictating these fashions?

It’s not the need to, you’ve that backward, they just don’t feel like they need to cover up with modest swimwear when at a health club. They can chose to wear what they wish.

and guess what they are right.

😂😂yes, in my C&A tartan skirt, jumper and loafers! 😂
Some people would definitely be happier in Kabul, I think.

Tarts, be careful there, your bitter misogyny is showing.

Heronwatcher · 20/02/2026 11:04

Good grief- you do realise that in Europe it’s actually prohibited to wear swimwear in most saunas/ spas.

Honestly I agree re women with tits and arse out in Tesco, not nice, but this was a jacuzzi FFS!

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 11:04

BetterOffNow · 20/02/2026 10:49

@Scottishlassie10 what exactly do you think these women were trying to achieve?

I don’t think they were trying to achieve anything as such. I was merely pointing out that they made my husband feel uncomfortable but based on the consensus it seems that this only applies to women.

That isn't actually standard - just so you know. I have conversations with many men (and I'm perfectly attractive) and they don't start flinging their wives into the dialogue.

I agree. It's two faced hypocrisy. And sets women's rights back

No woman complained. Did you misread the op? He is complaining as is his jealous wife, that they donned these tiny bikinis then put on a sex show for him, rubbing their breasts and bottoms, before crowding him in the jacuzzi.

if that’s not some middle aged troll of a bloke;s fantasy I don’t know what is, on no planet were these four young women putting on some form of sex show for this man.

Of course women can be as bad as men

They aren't, though. Of course they can be horrible, we have plenty of nasty people on here, but at a class level, no, they don't commit violent or sexual crimes or buy sex or assault partners in anything like the levels that men do. And the fact that so many people get so outraged at this website and think women gathering and sometimes saying not very nice things about men is somehow comparable to the real life threat women as a class face from men as a class is just unwitting proof of what the double standard really is.

That OP declares it "mind boggling" (!) that a lot of people don't think women entering a jacuzzi while wearing something a man doesn't like and then using the shower is a terrible act of aggressive sexual intimidation on a par with stories almost all women could share is just proof of the same.

That's what people fail to grasp: it does set women back.

loislovesstewie · 20/02/2026 11:08

BTW, my son had an older woman have a go at him for what he was wearing at the pool. They were what is commonly called budgie smugglers. Another woman told the complainer that there was nothing wrong with it. Off complainer trotted to reception to make them aware of her grievance . To be told that he was wearing a completely acceptable item. Someone will always complain.

Exactly. It's risible.
