Just that. AIBU to think this is the end of Farage?

With any luck, they will destroy each other.

BeGentleMentor · 15/02/2026 11:12

I wouldn't be surprised. I think a lot of Reform voters are increasingly disillusioned with Farage.

InOverMyHead84 · 15/02/2026 11:14

After seeing how Rupert Lowe ran the football club I support, the thought of him having any kind of power is just horrifying.

What happened

I know quite a few ex reformers that now support Lowe, as they think reform taking conservative MPs will dilute the party and as conservatives didn't ' solve' the problems when they had the chance as reform they won't either..
Bluntly they don't think reform are extreme enough.
They want mass deportations whilst supporting premiership football teams 95% foreign players 🙈🤣

Well, let's be honest, none of these far right types are exactly known for their intelligence. It really isn't reasonable to expect them to have coherent or consistent arguments.

Do you think that premiership footballers came to Britain illegally in small boats and were housed in hotels prior to getting their contracts with their clubs?

You make no distinction between anyone who lives and works here who wasn't born here and you think people who support Reform are stupid and racist?

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of either Farage or this other guy but the snobbery and viciousness of the Mumsnet class about ordinary working-class people's concerns is so vile that I don't blame anyone for voting for them.

I don't think it's racist or stupid to have concerns about irregular migration.

I do think it's racist and stupid to vote for political parties which have obviously racist agendas.

You can try to reduce it to a class issue if you like, but that's actually deeply offensive. There are tons of decent working class people who reject racism in all its forms, and who find the far right parties utterly repugnant. And there are plenty of middle class and upper class racists as well.

TwattingDog · 15/02/2026 12:31

Lowe is another scourge on society. At least he'll help split the vote amongst similarly hateful people in certain areas.

NellieJean · 15/02/2026 12:33

He’s an even bigger headcase so possibly.

The thing is and I say this as someone married to a highly clever working class man who doesn'tvote Reform. The reason people think the Reform voters are stupid is because they can't see that they're being played.
Its not to do with immigration, it's about making billionaires richer and more powerful.
I'll tell you who has the most contempt for working class people, its Farage.

Exactly! They can't see how they're being manipulated.

PandoraSocks · 15/02/2026 12:36

Lowe won't be as successful as Farage but he will hopefully split the far-right vote.

Freysimo · 15/02/2026 12:38

Rupert has done more than any of the other parties to highlight the abuse of British girls by "grooming gangs".

If you're so concerned about the way working class people are viewed on MN perhaps you'd like to practice what you preach and stop linking being WC with support for racism? Because as a WC person, I'm sick to death of being told that anti immigration rhetoric and support for racist politicians are 'the concerns of the WC'.
In my WC opinion, Reform are 'vile' and I'd take being thought stupid any day of the week over being lumped in with their supporters.
Many of us WC people live quite happily in diverse communities and care far less about immigrants than we do about wealthy white people exploiting us as they have for centuries.

Well said.

I really hate the way in which the far right racists are now seeking to present themselves as the champions of the working classes and the defenders of women's rights. Nothing could be further than the truth.

Rupert has done more than any of the other parties to highlight the abuse of British girls by "grooming gangs".

But they are only interested in grooming gangs run by Brown men. I don’t believe they are the only ones out there.

Tryagain26 · 15/02/2026 12:51

No idea , but I hope they split the right wing vote and they both disappear into oblivion

Has he always been a champion of abused women and girls, or did this particular strand of activism emerge only as a response as a facet of his anti-immigration views? What is he doing about the abuse of women and girls in his 93% White constituency?

100% agree, introducing a insurance based NHS system is firmly in thier sights, which will disproportionately affect lower income brackets. Sad that even one of my friends things Farage..the privately educated, multi millionaire, ex-metal trader speaks for the common man.

Asylum seekers have not come here illegally. You must know that if you have been on MN any length of time; after all, someone patiently explains it on every immigration-related thread. So why do you repeat something you must know to be false?

Equally if you think being housed 6 to a room in a former B&B hotel is the height of luxury, you have strange standards.

As for "You make no distinction between anyone who lives and works here who wasn't born here and you think people who support Reform are stupid and racist?" - what is that sentence supposed to mean? What distinction are we supposed to make, and between whom? If Reform voters want their views to be considered seriously, they need to try to write coherently, at the very least.
