Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

What makes you think that losing weight on GLP1s require no effort...? if only it was that simple.

You've just proven that you obviously don't know anything about how GLP1s actually work.

I've been on mounjaro for 15 months for diabetes. Whatever gave you the idea it loses the weight for you? It can suppress appetite as a side effect which makes it easier to stay in a calorie deficit. I only.had appetite suppression for 4 months and have religiously calorie counted ever since. It's been willpower and calorie counting as the suppression went. It has controlled my diabetes though so I'm on a maintenance dose forever for my diabetes. But my weight loss hasn't been easier with mj. I've lost 9st 13lb, by July so in 9 months and have maintained ever since

I think you've responded to the wrong person

Normal diet not good enough for you? No wonder your friends pissed, she probably needs it, you are just vain and lazy.

How come OP gets sneered at for not following a “normal diet”, but her friend needs appetite control meds? Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?

Stop telling people your business and openly admitting that you lie.

That’s why your friend is annoyed. They aren’t lying to cheat the system. You are and you’re smug about it.

I think this is a little dramatic. The healthy range of BMI is very broad, around 2 stone I believe, when I am top end of healthy I do not look healthy. I look overweight. So long as someone isn’t falling into the underweight category I don’t think there needs be “deep concern”.

I agree to an extent that the one time in my adult life when I have been within "healthy" BMI limits, my Auntie went mental at me for being too thin and looking dreadful...and to be honest, she was right. I look fit and healthy at 2 stones over what my BMI weight should be. I'm a tall male btw.

This is why it's not a great tool and if someone looks unhealthy then clearly they are the wrong weight for them as an individual.

My husband is in the overweight category, he’s a military man that runs 10K 4-5 times a week and still gets light blue on a fitness test (a very high level for his age). He is not overweight.

You must be aware of the moralistic views people hold around taking certain medications and WL drugs in particular. Your friend probably feels you've cheated, and taken the easy and morally inferior route. While she's struggling to achieve her weight loss without the medication.
Perhaps it would be helpful to raise this out loud and acknowledge that while you have different opinions on WL drugs, you respect hers and hope it won't affect your friendship.

How is it morally inferior?! Disgusting attitude. So ignorant.

Johnny Wilkinson at the peak of his rugby career was classed as morbidly obese!!😁

Well you still poop daily, it’s not in there for years 😂

anyway you missed so many things the drugs also do,

controls blood sugar
optimises insulin
reduces inflammation
reduces certain cancers
improves cardio vascular health
improves liver and kidney health
possibly reduces dementia
provides anti ageing to our internal organs, as the inflammation reduction enables cells to regenerate, they have found it either slows, stops or reverses ageing in many people. Not skin, our internal organs.
the list goes on.

but enjoy your beans and lentils.

It stays in the stomach for longer, which is part of the feeling of "fullness" and satiation users of WLI report.

You also missed so many things the drugs also do...
cause sudden irreparable loss of eyesight
cause gallstones
cause gallbladders to need removal and all that follows that operation
cause gastroparesis or stomach paralysis
cause ileus or bowel blockage
cause pancreatitis
cause kidney damage
the list goes on...

hcee19 · 14/02/2026 23:30

I don't see it as a problem either. Live and let live, no one else's business but you own....

DibDob22 · 15/02/2026 01:13

Sounds like you didn't need to lose weight so I can understand that she is pissed.

Findingthe · 15/02/2026 03:05

She's probably a bit jealous, everyone wants to be about 8 stone and if shes been struggling and you've found a quick fix she is probably feeling a bit hurt and a bit of jealousy and self esteem issues all rolled into one. Maybe she is worried about side effects, Maybe she has tried and failed to get it herself and feels cheated? Try and be honest between yourselves- good friendship is worth its weight in gold.

Why would anyone be pissed off that someone else lost weight?

Ah let me correct that for you. Mine is does. Yours is may also do in rare circumstances, for the eye sight. For the rest it’s to do with weight loss or gain. And it’s about to be approved for kidney disease as it cures it.

but nice try, 😂

Plenty on this thread pissed off about it. Some folks are really messed up about weight.

disappearingfish · 15/02/2026 07:41

I imagine 100,000s of people have quietly done exactly what OP has done, and good luck to them.

A tablet version is in development, and I predict that the majority of older adults will be on these drugs as a preventative measure within a generation.

Greendiamondbee · 15/02/2026 07:43

I'm a healthy BMI but always wanting to shift half a stone. I lied about my current weight and used old pictures which were taken weeks after giving birth. I was denied and charged an admin fee. Glad I was told no tbh, it would've fuelled my already disordered eating.

It did read like it’s your view, and you’re not alone in proclaiming that shite, lots of cheating etc on here,

I find it mind boggling how angry those not on the drugs get about the fact they exist and people are becoming slim and healthy on them. I understand it’s jealousy, but wow it’s off the charts for some people.

The OP was wondering why her friend is angry. My response said "she probably feels.." I'm not sure why I'm now being told I'm ignorant and proclaiming shite.

It's your health you risk by taking drugs that you don't clinically need. I would understand if your friend was worried about your health.

I can’t imagine my friends being anything other than interested or excited if they found out I was on WLI. Even if they thought I didn’t need them. Anger wouldn’t even come into it.
